Your Literary Crushes

It’s so true (in re: Littlefinger)…and I certainly won’t begrudge you The Hound either.

(The real question, not appropriate for this thread, becomes “Who should Sansa be with?” )

Two more that I simply cannot believe I forgot:

Remus Lupin
Lord Havelock Vetinari (he’s like the good version of Littlefinger, in a way)

America Shaftoe, from Neal Stephenson’s Cryptonomicon
Another vote for HGttG’s Trillian

As I just mentioned in another thread (and so am morally obliged to mention here as I said I would)

Sir Stephen from the Story of O

Cassidy from Preacher

which should give you a pretty good idea of the span of my taste in men…although I tend to be a little more rational in real life.

Either you never read further than the third trade paperback or so, or you have some serious issues…

Ummm…the latter actually. But I broke up with the pseudo-Cassidy and went with the pseudo- Sir Stephen.

Which still means I have issues, but he’s really very nice for a Sadist…no, really.

Not bad, but give me Eliza from his Baroque Series. With all the fun-to-remove period clothing.

No one’s claimed Jon Snow yet? Good, because he’s mine.

Give me Teddy over Gilbert Blythe any day. Um…and Atticus Finch! He’s hot.

Nymphadora Tonks from the Harry Potter books.

Trillian has been mentioned, but I’ll put in a vote for Fenchurch.

…Oh, and Eowyn from The Lord of the Rings…

Yep, I certainly am. I want him for his soul.

I’d probably take Faramir, too, now that I think about it.

I gotta say I wouldn’t mind a little romp with Jack Aubrey from Patrick O’Brian’s books. All that energy and competence is compelling, and I love stupid jokes too.

Capt. Augustus McCrae from Lonesome Dove. So gray-haired, so sexy. What woman could refuse to give him a poke?

I’m mostly over it, but I have claimed Garp for years. Mmm that muscular runner’s butt.

Afraid of Jamie? Why?

He’s so big and I’m so small! LOL And I’m just not the strong woman that Claire is. I could never make him happy. But boy he is one awesome man.

True. Claire is not afraid of getting up in his face and telling him what’s what. But, dayum, you know he loves her. When I read A Breath of Snow and Ashes, and got to that part where What’shername accuses Jamie of getting her pregnant I knew there was no way in hell. Absolutely not. Never a shred of doubt.

Petra Arkanian from Ender’s Game and its sequels.

Henry De Tamble from Audrey Niffenegger’s The Time Traveler’s Wife.
So dashing, so dangerous despite being a librarian, and so in love with his wife, who he first meets when she is 6 years old.

Where’s the puking smiley?

How could I forget him? I love that book so much.

There’s also Joscelin from the Kushiel series.

I know its a bit cliche but I think Elizabeth Bennet is quite high on my list. I think my first real literary crush was Liza Khokhlakov from The Brothers Karamazov.

Other would be (in no particular order):

Adelaida Ivanovna Yepanchin from The Idiot
Petra Arkanian from the Ender series.
Haydée from The Count of Monte Cristo

I am sure that there have been others but that is all that comes to mind at the moment.
