"Your" song

So, dopers who are or were in relationships: what is or was “your” song?

“Whenever, Wherever” by Shakira.

Shew, ** Hero** by Enrique, as I am sure ten million other dopers will state was/is theirs as well.

You needed me by Anne Murray.

Previous relationships: “Oh! Darling” by the Beatles and “Nightswimming” by REM.

Current relationship: “The Luckiest” by Ben Folds.

When Mrs. Furd and I met, we couldn’t seem to escape this one song. It seemed like it was playing in the background every where we went. Our song? Yeah, well it sort of got done to us. I mean, who would choose “Nimm mich jetzt auch wenn ich stinke” as sung by a guy to a woman?

Translation:
“Take me now even though I stink.”

A long ago one that lasted a few years:

White Rabbit

For my ex and me it was U2’s The Sweetest Thing.

The line, A blue eyed boy meets a brown eyed girl was especially poignant.

Of course, after the whole breakup, arrest, jail, restraining order, probation thing, the song has lost a bit of its appeal for me.

Our first wedding dance song When you Say Nothing At All as sung by Alison Krauss

Previous relationship:

“Heartbeats Accelerating” by Kate and Anna McGarrigle

relationship #1 '76-'77 “More Than a Feeling”

relationship #2 '79-'81 “I’ll Never Love This Way Again”

relationship #3 '81-'83 “Your Kiss On My List”

relationship #4 '84-'85 “I Just Called to Say I Loved You”

relationship #5 '87-'95 that song by Cher and Peter Cetera, We keep coming back to these two hearts… etc.

relationship #6 '01-'02 “How Glad I Am” by Nancy Wilson. The song is about 40 years old, but we saw her in February, and after that it sort of became the song. Plus I’m way old now, so it doesn’t have to match the time anymore.

And my personal relationship song after all these years and relationships is “The Boss” by Diana Ross. As in love taught me, taught me, who was, who was, the boss!

The song for my ex-wife and me was “Too Marvelous For Words”. I don’t know who wrote it, but the version I have was sung by Ella Fitzgerald.

Our first wedding dance song was “Crazy”, sung by Patsy Cline.

“Here Comes My Girl” by Tom Petty.

The wife won’t let me say why.

heehee,

Ours is “Your Song” by Elton John.

Fits exactly with the OP…

Claire

According to Scott, my song is that rap song where the chorus is “It’s getting hot in here- so take off all your clothes!” I think it’s by Nelly

Not really a relationship, more like a booty call…

Memorable. “Crazy.” by Patsy Cline. Thank you, LindyHopper.

Always,

Patsy Cline

Ani Difranco - Untouchable Face
“so fuck you
and your untouchable face
and fuck you
for existing in the first place
and who am i
that i should be vying for your touch
and who am i
i bet you can’t even tell me that much”

Ah, good ol’ useless relationships :stuck_out_tongue:

Love Is All Around - R.E.M.

One of the few songs not sung by Michael Stipe. Only released as an additional track on their Radio Song CD single.

Mr Cazzle always tells me that Come What May* from Moulin Rouge makes him think of me. Awww

Dire Straits - Brothers in Arms was the song playing when I arrived at her house intending to propose. My heart was doing overtime, so I sat and let the song end, trying to calm down, before I went in.

Nina Simone - Feelin’ Good was the song we chose to walk down the aisle to at the end of our wedding, an excellent summation of how we felt at the time (and still do)…
