"Your" song

“True Love Ways” by Buddy Holly
Probably one of the most romantic songs of all time. I played and sang it to her on our one year anniversary and it has been ours song since.

Before that it was “She Came into the Bathroom Window” particularly because on the night that we got together, I dissected the song and compared each part to her and showed her how she was exactly like the girl in the song. I guess she fell in love instantly! Of course, comparing someone to the girl in that song seems to be pretty far from a compliment, depending on how you look at it.

My Top Five relationship Songs

  1. You are the Everything - REM
  2. Stand By Me - Ben E King
  3. Baby, can I hold you tonight? - Tracy Chapman
  4. Be Mine - REM
  5. Bridge over Troubled Waters - Simon & Garfunkel

5 & 2 were from the same relationship (we got bored:) ). Bridge over Troubled Waters has also been a ‘secondary relationship song’ for every relationship I’ve ever had. I’ve never met anyone who doesn’t love that one.

However, at the moment I’m single so I’m listening to the Dashboard Confessionals pretty heavily at the moment.

  1. Bush - Mouth (American Werewolf in Paris remix)
  2. DMB - Crush

1 was the wedding song. 2 was of my previous relationship.

sigh. screwing to music. what beautiful memories

I don’t have a song or a relationship:(

But I wrote one a couple of weeks ago  See?

Got a couple:
“You’re My Home” - Billy Joel
“Angel Eyes” Jeff Healy (our first dance at the reception)
“True Companion” Marc Cohn

“Something to Talk About” Bonnie Raitt current

let’s go back in time…
“Don’t Answer Me” Alan Parsons Project shoulda had a clue that that relationship was not a smart idea.

“Night Moves” Bob Seger does is count if the other person never knew?

First Boyfriend = Angel Eyes - Jeff Healy Band
Marriage first song = At Last - Etta James

‘our song’ is something I never understood - what makes a song ‘our song’?

Any Way You Want It–Journey!

Oh, that?

Well, then we’ll have to go with Jimi Hendrix - Are you Experienced? (the album, not the song) and a Howlin’ Wolf mix tape. And stopping to switch tapes wasn’t as awkward as one would think. Needless to say that was a great time!

NIGHTS IN WHITE SATIN,
never reaching the end,
letters I’ve written,
never meaning to send…

'Cause I love you, Yes, I Love You! Woah-oahoah…

I’m holding out for a woman who will let me play Closer by Nine Inch Nails at our wedding.

Desperado

since we are mostly long-distance we make a lot of cds for each other.

but i’d say Your Song by Elton John and My funny Valentine sung by Elvis Costello are 2 of ours.

but at the moment i’m feeling these lines from Hallelujah (Jeff Buckley version) sum us up best.

“there was a time i moved in you,
and the holy dove was moving too,
and every breath we drew
was Hallelujah”

by the way, mark and lard played this song for 9/11 on radio 1 this afternoon, just after the silence. beautiful.

Making Love Out of Nothing at All, Air Supply.

I proposed singing that.

…you’re supposed to have a song? I don’t think the relationship I’m in right now has one. But my other relationship?

We’re true products of the 80’s here, so it’s Madonna’s “Crazy for You.”
