Zombieland or Shaun of the Dead?

Bill Murray almost pushes Zombieland ahead. But not quite, Shaun it is. Love 'em both though.

Here is a Cracked article that highlights some details hidden in *Shaun of the Dead *(listed #4 on the page).

Zombieland is largely a comedy with some zombies in it (biggest clue–nobody dies, BM notwithstanding). Shaun is a bona fide zombie movie, and one of the best, period.

I really like both movies, but Shaun of the Dead is one of my all time favorite movies.

We have these team huddles every damn morning at work, and I try to end as many as I can with “There is no ‘I’ in team, but there is an ‘I’ in ‘pie’.”

My vote is for Shaun.

I don’t watch horror movies. Don’t like 'em. Don’t get the appeal.

But I liked Shaun of the Dead.

I thought the entire beginning where everyone is just sleepily going through the motions of their life and you’re wondering just when the zombies come in and thinking “that guy in the background, is he a zombie? ok, no, he’s just some guy” was just a spectacular commentary on modern life.

Zombieland is an extremely entertaining comedy horror film.

Shaun of the Dead is a damn near perfect film. Extremely well written and constructed, brilliantly acted and directed, both funny and poignant, both realistic in characterisation and absurd in setting.

Also, Bill Nighy > Bill Murray.

Like Jesse Eisenberg, Zombieland was neither fun nor funny. Shaun all the way.

But the double tap is always good advice.

Zombieland was pretty good. Shaun of The Dead is great. I really like British films so that is also a factor. As others have said, watch Spaced.

Absolutely.

Zombies die. Lots of zombies.

One of my favorite bits of action movie-ness ever is Tallahassee in the caged in carnival booth. And I was actually amused and surprised that he survived since it seemed like it was going to be the stereotypical big Noble Sacrifice moment.

The Bill Murray cameo is the thing I HATE about Zombieland. I still like it but it’s not a patch on Shaun Of The Dead.

I really like both movies, but Shaun edges Zombieland by just a bit in my book; I have a bit of a thing for Brit humor, and Bill Nighy is an absolute slice of fried gold in Shaun.

That being said, I did like the chemistry/dynamic between Woody Harrelson and Jesse Eisenberg (and their characters) more than I did between Simon Pegg and Nick Frost.

But the supporting cast in Shaun pushes it over the line FTW, IMO.

What he said.

This is why I voted Zombieland. The dirty old pub had such promise for the finale, and they wasted it. I particularly disliked the bit where that Queen song plays on the jukebox - very unfunny.

Shaun is a great movie with lots of great moments but i spent every single moment of zombieland laughing my ass off, i’ve watched it three times and there are still things i’ve missed from laughing too much.

I voted for Shaun, but I wanted to go back and see Zombieland again. I was surprised to find the whole movie up on youtube (with a fair use disclaimer–I doubt that will keep it from being taken down). I enjoyed the first half, but the curio-shop smashing scene didn’t work for me and I sort of lost interest after that.

Its got to be Shaun, easily.

I enjoyed them both, but thought that Zombieland was more fun.

I really like both movies. I’ll concede that Shaun is more intelligent and objectively probably the better film. But Zombieland is much more fun, so that’s how I voted.
