2008 Emmy Awards

Every time you deny Hugh Laurie an Emmy, another puppy dies.

The only useful information I was able to find about Alan Sues is that he is 82 years old. He looked very, very bad.

Good on Tommy Smothers, and good on Kathy Griffin for demanding that the audience rise for Don Rickles.

Yay for 30 Rock!

Incredible. I am so out of touch with popular culture.

The only winning show that I have watched is “Amazing Race.”

I agree. They couldn’t get Arte Johnson? Is he dead? And if he is wouldn’t he still look better (and be funnier) than Alan Sues?

Arte Johnson is alive at 79; I have no idea about his health. Henry Gibson is still with us. Of course Goldie Hawn is too big a star. Richard Dawson never did the comedy wall, IIRC.

I have a very bad feeling about Alan Sues.

Industry insider here

No huge surprises. No big disappointments. Glad Hargitay didn’t pick up a golden dildo for her overblown performance.

Still think Robert Sean Leonard got overlooked for “Wilson’s Heart” this year. Same for Anne in her guest role as Amber. But way to slobber all over Hugh again this year. No surprises here, still. Good job to 30 Rock and Mad Men and most mad props to HBO’s John Adams. Hurrah to cable, baby, that’s where it’s at.

Amen Elenfair. RSL has been really snubbed, and Anne Dudek? Totally Emmy-worthy.

And where was Hugh Laurie? He was supposed to present. Somebody at Television Without Pity said he had the flu.

Another actor who has consistently been snubbed is Vincent D’Onofrio.

Go figure.

I also heard Laurie was ill.

I’m sad that Michael Emerson didn’t win for Lost. He deserves it. :frowning:

I thought these Emmy’s were the funniest and most industry-bashing I’ve seen in a long while. Now I wish I’d sat thru Josh Groban, but musical montages have burned their bridge with me. Burned, I say!

What’s up with Tom Hank’s hair? I thought it was just for Charlie Wilson’s War, but looks like it’s a permanent do?

Soooo many traditional film stars there. Felt like the Oscars.
