Yeah, I would expect Dim to show up at a gunfight with a knife.
I went back and looked at it in single-frame. It was very dark and fuzzy, but it looks more like a circular saw.
I saw a drill!
The plausibility of her retreating would basically be a factual matter for the jury. The prosecution would argue that the assailant was dazed, probably injured, prone on the ground, and disarmed; that Kim held a gun that could keep the assailant at bay; and that the door was not far away. The defense would say exactly what you just said. The argument could go either way.
All this conversation about Kim’s legal status is interesting, but purely academic. With Jack Bauer’s connections, there’s no way Kim will ever be indicted, let alone put on trial. Hell, once Palmer gets reinstated, he’ll probably offer Jack’s daughter a presidential pardon out of gratitude!
It’s obviously time for me to clean my contacts!

It’s too bad that when Jack had Palmer on the phone, he couldn’t have told him to “pardon” the hacker.
The pardon wouldn’t be valid since Palmer isn’t the pres, and it would make the hacker far more cooperative. Unfortunately, it might also kill some of the contrived drama for next week’s episode so of course they cannot do that.
Palmer couldn’t do that, even if he is reinstated. Murder is a state crime. Only the governor of California could pardon Kim.
My house has an attic access ladder exactly like the one in the show. It is not physically possible to pull it up after yourself. Even if you had the superhuman strength to lie on your stomach, put your arms through the hole in the attic floor and wrench the thing off the ground with no leverage whatsoever - how would you fold the bottom parts up? And in normal houses you put the access in a corridor, not in the middle of somebody’s room.
Very odd episode. Third from the end and if you think about it, nothing really happened to advance the plot. I will admit that a show where you can’t tell what the ending will be even this close to the end is either doing something very right or is so dumb that it is incoherent. I leave the answer as an exercise for the user.
As fir Boston Public, one of my beefs against the show (which I’ve stopped watching) is that every teacher in it looks like a Playmate (except, of course, for one sassy fat black woman stereotype). There’s no way that the women in 24 are better looking.
I’m waiting for someone to look at his/her watch, notice that it’s nearly the top of the hour and say, “I think something dramatic is about to happen…” Would you want to live in the 24 universe, knowing that some earth-shattering event happens every hour on the hour like clockwork?
I also think if the pres is removed, there will be an amount of riots in the streets that make the Draft riots of 1863 (totally omitted inGangs of New York)look like a block party.
