“Look, you pasty-faced, pencil-necked Euro-geek - I have already single-handedly killed 35 gun-toting terrorists today, and it’s not even tea-time. You sure you wanna fuck with me?”
I was so thinking that, my second choice was for his partner from last season. Anyway, this was more of a setup episode rather than a must see.
I guess we know who the mole is now of course some of us weren’t fooled for a minute. Well except for the chick she pulled the Jedi Mind Meld on, “I’m not the mole you’re looking for” The real question is, what does she get out of it, ok maybe she’s a double agent. Btw, wasn’t the guy she called the one from the Terrorist Hideout?
Speaking of Terrorist, the Terror Family is wayyyyyy too dysfunctional. I mean I have a just turned teen, so I can relate to offing him*, but Mom too. Damn. To be fair, I really wanted her to last longer, maybe showing up with some tea or a Coke for Terror Teen.
Was I only person thinking “Geez, Jack just rescued your ass from 20 terrorist, and you’re manipulated that easily by Mr. Bean.”
I was thinking Comic Book Guy was gonna whine for help from Chloe with his power plant bug, you just know she’s gotta come back. Speaking of, the NRC won’t let CTU have access to the system, yet they let someone build the Universal Remote of Doom, WTF?

for the joke impaired.
I found it interesting that sometimes in the “24” universe you can get from the Santa Clarita Valley to Santa Monica in about 10 minutes, but it seemed to take forever for them to drive out to Burbank.
The Metrolink train shown when TerrorMom got shot is the line on which the REAL fatal derailment took place, although not in that location.
Tony!!!
That is all. I am so thrilled to see Tony.
Oh, how would a medical chart not know that a person with schizophrenia was allergic to Haldol? Wouldn’t that drug have been administered to that girl quite a while ago? Or can you develop dangerous allergies to drugs all of a sudden?
Just curious.
I would hate to think that all of a sudden I could develop an allergy to the medication I take.
As a former Nurse. All medicines that a person is allergic too should be in a patients chart. It’s SOP all over AFAIK. It’s possible for a old chart to not have new information, or a New chart to hace old information, that’s why i’ts sort of the duty of a new patient to brief their doctors on any known allergic reactions. Hoewever, since not all drugs are administered at every admittance, it wouldn’t be all that oncommon for a chart to have incomplete info.
To put it another way. If you live in California but get sick on vacation in Florida, it’s not likely in an Emergency situation, that the Docs in FL willl know if you allergic to something. That’s why they have Med-alert Bracelets.
Shouldn’t the folks at CTU be a little happier that they have gotten “possible meltdown” from 104 reactors down to only 7 remaining? I mean, that’s pretty darn good progress for just the last hour, right? Okay, there are still 7 left, and that can be pretty serious. But much more feasible to evacuate the areas surrounding 7 sites than 104. Get it started. Still have a couple hours.
And don’t be so morose, dammit. You just saved 96 sites. Dorks.
97 sites… ::: sheepish :::
Hey, get your hands off my math degree!
Nah, weren’t you listening? We’re still talking about a “nuculer” holocaust!
A nuculer holocaust! Heh heh heh.
Anyway, when Jack said he was calling “the only person he could trust,” I spontaneously starting singing Spike Jones’ Chloe: “Chloe, Chloe… Someone’s calling!” Boy, did I feel silly.
And I was really pissed off at Terrormom for not feeding sunny-boy a few non sequiturs on the phone by way of giving him a heads-up. Come on, how hard would that be? Of course, it wouldn’t really advance the plot, so you’ve got to cut her a little slack.
I think not mentioning the whole anaphylactic shock thing to the Secretary of Defence might bite Head Bitch in the ass, too. “How are you doing?” “Been dealing with this schizophrenic thing for years. You know, good days, bad days. Today’s a bad day. I can deal. Why no, I’m not distracted in the slightest by concerns that my daughter might be dying a horrible death a few rooms away. 100%, yes sir. All business. La la la.” The schmuck.
"You see Audrey, the terrorists have this thing called an “Override” which allows them to take control of these things called “nuclear power plants”.
Meanwhile, we’re doing this thing to your brother called “torture” which allows us to get information out of him that we call “bupkis”.
Chloe wouldn’t have left 7 plant in danger mode. She would have been rewriting the security codes by now and running anti-virus scans on their PCs to boot.
“It’s time for dinner, Beaver. Are your little Jihad friends going to stay?”
So the Terrorists are now trying to create a melt down so that Imhotep can resurrect Anck Su Namun?!?!
You know this organization doesn’t really do anything to foster loyalty. I mean aside for the old bad guy stand by “Do not fail me or else,”
I mean look what happens. Mom kills girlfriend when there is no real need to, then dad tries to kill son which makes son turn against the plan, then dad tries to kill mom, Hmmm I’m thinking her loyalty is going to wane a bit. Now dad is told to off his family but he is still going to pay. Any bets on whether he too might have second thoughts before this ends. I mean no maer what he does he’s going to die.
I guess this is supposed to represent religious fanaticism but I mean really.
These guys are morons. Perhaps they should have better recruitment methods and perks.
Poor IT guy. Good thing like all nerds he keeps a spare empty memory stick in his pocket, though.
Say why does this security place keep a tape from a function 3 months ago? Do they keep every tape, or store it on their server?
At least sonny boy gets to be let free after 2 1/2 hrs of torture (which I bet felt like 24hrs)
Jack Kicks ass again though. I loved how after he runs out of ammo he prepares to bludgeon his enemies to death. I think he could have done it too!
Didn’t Erin say something along the lines of “You’re looking at the wrong chart!” when they noticed the error?
My exact words at the end of the episode:
Tony Almada! Tony Al-fucking-mada! What the fuck!?
I too thought Jack was gonna call Chloe, though what she could have done is anyone’s guess. Make snippy comments at the bad guys?
It looked like they were wrong on some of the nuclear power plants in the US. They didn’t show a lot of the Northeast, but I don’t remember ever seeing one in southern VT, where Vermont Yankee is located.
Huh…interesting fact: VT apparantly gets more of its power from nuclear power than any other state…it’s 25% more than the next highest.
Info here.
I was expecting Jack to have contacted Chloe, Chase, or even Former President Palmer before seeing Tony McSoulpatch again! But I “marked out” just the same. I can’t wait to hear the explanation last week, but I’m glad he’s not rotting in prison after the events of Season 3, where he did a hell of a lot less than Jack gets away with every week.
NEXT week, I mean, not “last week.” Duh. I should apply for a job at CTU if I keep that up.
So…who thinks Tony is divorced?
I’m guessing he’s “just seperated” with Michelle being in Virginia.
Hmm…Reiko…

I was sure he was calling Chase, but Tony busting in was cool. Perhaps Almada was able to get to Jack quickly b/c he is living as a fugitive in the sewer system of LA - ‘Sure Jack, I’m just four manholes over, be right there.’
I continue to believe Audrey is a baddie and that the ‘mole’ in CTU is actually working as a good guy.
What the hell does the dork husband do that he has clearance to hang around CTU all day? And if he has a job pertinent to security, wouldn’t you think he’d have better things to do than get all weirded up w Auuuuuuuuuuuuuuuudry? What sense of timing - ‘listen ex-father-in-law to be ole chap, I realize you’re a triffle busy, but could you spare a moment to talk about me love life?’ What a dork.
I think TerrorDad is gonna get into a dust-up with Jack pretty soon (brought about by TerrorKi 2.0 and TerrorMom 2.0) and Jack won’t be able to break him.
Jack: “Tell me whats going on or I will kill your kid!”
TerrorDad: “Praise the gods - I’ve been trying all day.”
Jack: “Well, yeah? Then I’ll kill your wife too, you’re so smart!”
TerrorDad: “Allah praise you!”
They should send Jack Bauer after whoever it was who fed the scriptwriters their computer gibberish. “Precompiled headers” indeed! (A pre-compiled header is used for development and wouldn’t be found on a runtime system, any more than you’d find a stack of 2x4’s in the living room of a finished home.)
Not to mention “Sorry, there’s no time for you to proofread your juryrigged assembler code that might melt down a hundred reactors. Even though you, the expert, think it might possibly be a good idea.”
Is it just me, or do the bad guys have no idea how to keep a low profile? Sending 20 guys with automatic weapons to wipe out a couple of people seems like maybe it would attract unwelcome attention. And where do they find these guys? Is there some kind of Kelly Temp services that provides sinister Middle-Eastern-looking goons for light typing services and assassination? After Jack’s last two shootouts, the bad guys must be down to pretty much Terror Dad and his pal.
Tony was awesome, as always. I actually whooped.
I can’t say how glad I am that it wasn’t Chase. God, I hated that lumpy-headed chump. I mean, like alot. A whole lot.
I agree on Maryanne. I think she’s definitely working for a branch of the government…whether it’s one that wants to keep the [echo]Remote Of Doom[/echo] screwup quiet, or one that’s hoping to Take Advantage of Meltdowns is a whole other question.
