24: Season 4: Episodes 3-4 (9:00am - 11:00am)

squeezing eyes shut and covering ears, pokes head into thread

Hey, guys. Did anyone record these two episodes? Wanna share with someone who was spending some quality time with the inlaws rather than glued to the TV?

E-mail’s in the profile if you can help a girl out.

runs back out of thread

Watching the Araz family, I got a weird “House of Sand and Fog” vibe. And I don’t know why.

I don’t know if it’s been said before in the other thread, but Behrooz’s mom is SMOKIN’ HOT. And she’s got that Kathleen Turner/Husky voice thing going on.

Behrooz’s moms interaction with her son, is a little “weird”. Am I the only one picking up on that?

Beautiful CTU people=Jack Bauer cock-blockers. Ugly CTU people=his allies.

When Heller escaped, I imagined Rumsfeld watching it at home and getting a kick out of it.

Rumsfeld: Finally an accurate portrayal of the Sec of Defence! I could so do that!
R’s wife: You do know he got recaptured a few minutes later, right?
Rumsfeld: Hey, you make an escape attempt with the plan you got!

Mrs. Araz was the Ben Kingsley’s wife in that movie. Shohreh Aghdashloo.

Not only that, but the young actor playing Behrooz also played her son in that movie.

I didn’t realize that. That sure does explain it!

Sorry to whoosh you guys. Was being sarcastic

Ran to IMDB after the first two eps to comfirm it. When you need a middle eastern mother and son acting team, there must be only one game in town.

Heyyyy! The mountain lion wasn’t evil – it was just misunderstood.

(And it was smarter than Kim :D)

We’ve got 20 hours to go, so you may be right. Still, with Sherry and Julia Milliken in mind, at the moment the show’s gotten into kind of an uncomfortable pattern.

Well, I figured that the parents were going to make him kill Debbie, but then I thought he’d turn the gun on mom, so maybe I get a Norman Bates-Mother vibe there?

So… Jack decides that rather than slashing tires he’ll rob a place. Is this sort of “outside the box” thinking typical of him? I’ve only seen 4 episodes, so it’s hard to judge based on that.

She kept widening her eyes as if she were trying to hypnotise him or something. I asked my husband why she kept doing that weird thing with her eyes and he said he didn’t notice. Maybe it was just me.

Actually, usually Jack solves such problems by killing someone. Kidnapping someone is choice #2. Staging a robbery is choice #3.

Well, choices #1 and #2 are usually put on hold when he’s trying to follow somebody back to the secret bad guy lair, so in these situations, choice #1 is typically find a way to hijack CTU satellite or other surveillance resources without the Boss-Who-Hates-Him finding out. He’s right on schedule there.

And sometimes when he kills someone, he likes to saw off the head for a souvenir.

I don’t know if marianne is a mole, but she certianly has an agenda. She thinks blackmail is a legitamate career advacing method. i KNOW she will ask Edgar to do something he normally wouldn’t, but whether its just to make herself look better or part of a deeper plan i don’t know…

With 24, I pretty much assume EVERYONE is up to no good.

Brian

I meant weird, as in sexual. Like she was teasing him

And that is exactly how 24 keeps us coming back. The good guys being tortured by other good guys*. TV hasn’t really ever done this before. Also good guys being suddenly and brutally killed with no set-up (like Jack’s wife in the first season).
*('cept Richie could turn out evil in the end)

What do yo think you’re watching, Nip/Tuck?

I had the same basic thought, but I like your Muppet Baby analogy. I may have to steal it.

In regards to Jack pretending to rob the store to buy time instead of slashing his tires, etc:

He only wanted to keep the terrorist there for as little time as possible, then let him go so they can track him to where Heller is being held. Slashing his tires would force him to run somewhere, then steal a car, and maybe get lost. It’s much easier to track someone when you know the exact car he will be using and it’s starting point, plus, when the Sec. of Defense is kidanapped, it’s good to waste as little time as possbile.

She was trying to hypnotize him into having sex with her.

Seriously, was I the only one who noticed that eye thing going on? It reminded me of Tracie Allen Ross (Diana’s daughter) on Girlfriends[sup]*[/sup]. Like her eyeballs are too big for their sockets and they are attempting to pop right out of her head.

[sup]*[/sup]This is a show that none of you watch because it is on UPN, stars a bunch of black people and, extra special plus, is on UPN. You probably never heard of it. Did I mention this show is on UPN?

I don’t buy any of the people in charge of anything at CTU as good guys. Their HR department has some really serious problems, going back to whenever they hired Nina.
