I got into 24 a month or so ago, starting with a marathon of some of Season 4 on A&E. My nephew got me the DVDs of Season 1 for my birthday. It’s also on superstation WGN.
For about three weeks I was watching the 2nd half of season 4 (finished it off with DVDs. Couldn’t wait.), the middle of Season 2, the beginning of Season 5 (missed the start of the season. damn.), and all of Season 1.
Are we sure Edgar is dead? His constitution had to be composed of about 90% Twinkies. Which are pretty much inert to any chemical compound.
There was some significant time compression going on in this episode. (I’m not sure why they even bother with the whole “24” real time conceit anymore.)
Jack got from Henderson’s house to CTU in less than 12 minutes. OK…maybe Henderson picked a place close to CTU 'cause he used to work there. But that still means that Jack left the lady Henderson bleeding on the couch while he took her husband off to be tortured.
Curtis made it back from the hospital pretty fast too. In fact, they were able to get to the hospital, sweep for bad guys, nail a terrorist, contain nerve gas, make sure that there wasn’t another canister and then finish up all the paperwork in near record time. I can’t even get lunch from the sub shop down the road that fast.
I’m still wondering how the bodies of Lynn’s skank sister and her boyfriend got discovered so fast. They were shot at 6:00 and Lynn was told about it within half an hour. Even though they were shot with a silenced gun by a “professional”. Did their blood drip down into the apartment below or what? Even so, someone would have had to get a warrant or at least spend a few minutes breaking down the door. The timing just doesn’t make sense.
Chloe’s emoting is really nothing new. Remember how she broke down in tears last season, when she thought that her old school chum was about to die? Heck, even before the teary floodgates were opened, she was already showing a soft side to her personality.
BTW, I know some people are suggesting that Chloe had some romantic feelings for Edgar, but I really don’t think we have enough basis to say that. Sure, she was broken up over Edgar’s impending death, but why not? They were friends, after all, and they did work closely together.
When we first met Edgar, the supervisor was Erin Driscoll, and the ever-polite Edgar always addressed her as “Miss Driscoll,” though it always came out “Mith Drithcoll” due to his lisp. It’s been my nickname for Edgar (said with love, of course).
Did Curtis actually get back from the hospital yet? I don’t remember him arriving back at CTU yet – I thought he was still away from the office. Besides, Black Bauer is an action guy – he probably doesn’t DO paperwork. Let the random underlings handle that tedium. After all, they need to do something useful, besides just get shot.
Jack Bauer shooting the woman in the leg. It seemed like it was necessary for the good of the country, but then it ended up being pointless. Very cool twist.
Kiefer’s acting. He really makes the difference in the show by the way he plays his character. That look he gave Kim when he asked her boyfriend to leave was priceless.
Edgar’s death. If this was any other show no one would have really believed that Edgar would die in the final moments of the show. Even though he is running through a room filled with centax gas. In this show however, when we see Edgar outside the situation room, we know his fate and it is painful to watch. It is the exact reaction this kind of scene would call for and no show but 24 could deliver it.
Does anyone less think that Audrey should stop taking off her glasses when she has something to say? It seems like she is trying too hard to make the moment sound important when the moment is already important enough on its own. It gets really annoying. I hope she dies next.
In an interview, the actor said he viewed his role as a big brother. He was aware of the fan fiction surrounding Edgar and Chloe, but that’s not how he believed he played it. To each their own interpretation.
While the producer quoted in the article said differently, the actor thought of himself as Chloe’s protector and friend, hence big brother. Probably not the first time a little sister had big bro under her control.
I agree. She has been way too over the top this year. They have really tried to give her character a different personality compared to last year. It doesn’t work.
I have to respectfully disagree here. Glasses-shedding aside, I think that Audrey is a lot more tolerable this year than she was last year. I think anyone who lost not one, but two lovers in the same day and then presumably had to step things up a notch or five in her father’s administration would find themselves with a bit of a different personality. I don’t think she’s been especially annoying or unbelievable.
I was just disappointed that she didn’t take aim to get Lynn the hell out of there sooner than she did.
