Not that part, the reconvening part. There’s a legitimate reason why they’d have to consult with Pence–he needs to be there. Trump doesn’t.

It’s the same rationale as to why Republicans have never expanded the Supreme Court despite having had the presidency and both houses of Congress from 2017-2018. Because once you cross that nuclear threshold, there’s no going back.

I would bet dollars to dimes if Obama had gotten a majority of liberals on the court Trump/republicans would have stacked the court. We have seen no restraint from them whatsoever in breaking norms the past four years.

At least one member of Congress had announced that she has changed her mind and will mot object to the electoral college votes.
The Trumpists planning to object are apparently meeting with each other to decide how they want to go through with this, since presumably their ridiculous objections are now even less popular than they were before. I’d guess they’ll carry through on one objection and then be done with it.
