DC laws could provide cause to charge them, but they wouldn’t have affected having them.

There’s been a really strong force for everyone to pretend things are normal, that we didn’t just go down the fucking crazy hole because we like the way racist senile grandpa “tells it how it is” (hates the same thing I hate) and that this is just a slight deviation from normal. The media has always bent over backwards to excuse his evils and his incompetence and to make him seem more presidential and more normal than he was. And now these people who were in denial saw the exactly expected and predicted things that he basically told us all along he’d do and act shocked. Bullshit. I can’t tell if they’re stupid, in denial, or have some sort of agenda in acting this way.

Is there a procedural rule that says impeachment has to be drawn out and long? It seems like if everyone is on board, they could do it in a day. File the paperwork, vote on the impeachment, vote on the conviction, done.
Even if it somehow can’t, it should still be pursued as a message that this is intolerable and that the US Congress emphatically rejects what’s happening here. Even if the conviction is after he leaves office, it still bars him from serving in the future.
Pence is a fucking nightmare, but if it wasn’t his toady hypocritical self giving it, that would have been a great speech.
His speech writer earned his pay today (not dissing Pence on that count…they all have speech writers).
The only thing that can be done to a sitting president is to impeach him. Under DOJ rules, he can’t be charged with a crime while in office, and though he is CinC, he’s still a civilian and not subject to UCMJ or court-martial.
An impeachment could be concluded in hours if the Congress were so inclined.
Why was my thread closed? I looked for any other threads on the subject before I posted mine. This thread is from before the event, bwhich after 800 posts self-hijacked to the subject.
