Senate is meeting and moving along on the debate. Looks like the Republicans are backing off. Cory Booker just threw some good words. Ben Sasse is up now.
No, it looks like they are only going on Arizona.
The house will get started at 9am.
They are going to bed? Really?
Oops, 9pm. Unless they let Jim Jordan talk again.

Loeffler has changed her mind about objecting to Georgia election results.
Trump fucks things up for himself again.
Just saw on Twitter:
About 150 members of Congress started the day with an plan that they would try to stage a coup. Then a group of citizens tried to stage a coup, and all those members of Congress were suddenly clutching their pearls and want you to praise them for it.
From CNN:
Republican Sens. Steve Daines and James Lankford say they will now vote to certify the election results.
Calling Wednesday’s insurrection “a sad day for our country,” the two senators said, “We now need the entire Congress to come together and vote to certify the election results.”
I don’t know much about Ben Sasse but I usually have to shut the volume off when Republicans talk. I did not have to do that for Sasse. Is he normally a decent human being or is this just temporary?
He has his moments.
As a history buff, I was thinking about this. May go down as one of the top ten most written about days in Ameircan history. Then again, in 100 years it may only be the final chapter in the history of the whole clusterfuck.
After maybe Romney he’s been consistently the most anti-Trump GOP senator, which is admittedly a pretty low bar. He still voted to acquit Trump during the impeachment, though (I think).
Yes, he did. Too bad more didn’t vote with Romney. The events that transpired today would not have happened.
They didn’t have nearly enough votes to convict. His vote would have made no difference in the outcome.
Replying without reading. Sorry.
ISTM that if I were in charge of the proceedings at the EC vote, I’d say 'In light of today’s violence, objections to the officially certified electoral votes might be seen as support for the insurrectionists. And now, to the counting…;
When I was a little kid I was on holiday at a beach with a friend. An Australian beach with huge Pacific swells rolling in. We were city kids and didn’t have surfboards but we had surf mats. We desperately wanted to get out past the broken surf to the big green rollers and ride them like proper surfies. But pushing through the big breaking swells with surf mats was difficult.
After a few days of trying, there was a slight lull in the waves and we made it. Suddenly we were “out the back” of the surf, in deep green water with 2 m (six-foot) rolling swells, and the beach seemed like it was miles away. I looked at my friend and he looked at me and without saying another word we turned towards the beach and paddled as fast as we could go towards the shore, our hearts racing in sheer terror. We never spoke of it again.
From Facebook:
Damn, there’s a lot of good speechifying going on today - listening to Senator Duckworth at the moment. She, Booker, others…lots of emotion, lots of passion.
He’s lost the ability to spew his shit over Twitter and FB. Can we expect a call into Fox & Friends tomorrow morning?
