6 January 2021; A Day worth a Thread

In case you don’t know, Jamie Raskin’s son died last week.

Finally voting.

It’s still a tragedy.

I don’t think what she was doing merited a death sentence. A fine and/or short jail sentence sure.

Regardless of your opinion of her she presumably had friends and family who will miss her.

I think this is one place conservatives fall down on. They have no regard for their fellow man and often delight in their misfortune and take glee in violence. Don’t be them.

Now waiting for PA objection vote. Bang the gavel, call them fellow insurrectionists, or whatever, aaaaaand next state, please.

And one cop who didn’t.

There are 3 more people who were killed, no details on that yet.

This, right here, is why the people who are saying this madness is a temporary aberration, that Biden will be inaugurated and normalcy will return, that Trump’s anti-democratic propagandizing has been merely self-serving and its effects will fade with his departure, are wholly and spectacularly wrong.

The Republican party has been consumed by deep irrationality, conspiratorial fantasies, and violent, reactionary anger. The genie has been invited to leave the bottle, pumped full of steroids, and given a microphone. Trump could die of a stroke five minutes from now, and this shit will continue dragging down American stability for years.

I never understand these legislative delays.

Just fucking vote already. You (representatives in this case) should be crystal clear about their votes before walking into the chamber. They have ample time to make deals before they go in. Once the vote is called they have a minute to register their vote…maybe play Jeopardy music to count it down.

All this faffing about makes little sense to me.

What does that mean?

It means the cop didn’t miss.

There are three more people who died. It was described as medical emergencies.

Meth ODs?

So… 45% of Republicans approve of the storming of the Capitol by Antifa?

I think it’s kind of like being at trial for a DUI after it’s been proven the prep was drunk, by puking, having six half-empty beers in the car and saying in court, “Well, that cop that pulled me over hates drunks!! Totally biased!!”

It goes on record, but still officially recorded.

Why are votes still being tabulated after the time to vote is down to zero?

All states get their say.

I’m talking about the House vote on the PA objections.

Oh, sorry.

In the days of covid floor votes go overtime due to the limited amount of people in the chamber.

Right, they’re voting in shifts.

It is moving along fairly well.
