Here’s another angle on the shooting.
Looks like she was the first through the broken window; further down that thread is this comment:
“Police shot her after warning the group NOT to try and come through the windows. The police were in a hallway with several Senators who were sheltering.”
Why?
Do they have to listen to floor debates in shifts?
Yeah, extra limited capacity in the room. They have remote access to listen but swap people in and out to speak.

Or they can watch over cspan in their offices.
Then how can they object or bring points of order or ask for a question if they are in other rooms?
You leave at least one dude from your party to take care of that for you, probably a freshman on less important days.
~Max
Do they all have a walkie-talkie to him?
Are they on the record or the noob?
That is what one guy was trying to argue at the very beginning of this. Pence shut him down.
Do you have more detail on this? I’d be interested to read it.
More like phones and text messages, I imagine.
~Max
I would be surprised if it worked like this.
Often the window to do “something” on the floor is seconds.
No way is Ted Cruz madly tapping on his phone to send a text to a drone on the floor to make a motion in the 10 seconds it can happen.
Sign language from the gallery? Semaphore?
Rudy Giuliani called for the vote to be slowed down today. I wonder if this call for a counted vote is part of that.
I’ve served in the military, and if an armed mob broke into my base, I’d warn them to stop, and if they’d continue advancing I’d shoot them. The rules of engagement are perfectly clear in this regard. The only difference is, I’ve never protected anything nearly as important as the U.S. Capitol.
No, it’s standard procedure for any significant vote to ask for the yeas and nays.
~Max
It’s not clear to the extent that this mob was armed. I think most of them were unarmed.

Pelosi asked for a voice vote One of the members then asked for a numeric count that has taken almost an hour now
Back to the joint session.
That video makes it far more clear what happened.
The interview below with the guy in blue also makes it clearer:
“A number of police and secret service were saying ‘Get back! Get down! Get out of the way!’ She didn’t heed the call, and as we kind of raced up to grab people and pull them back, they shot her in the neck.”
… after she tried to climb through the window towards them.
Obviously they didn’t want that mob to break through while they were protecting senators behind them.
“Most”? Any number greater than 0 is too much. Believe me, I know all about armed insurgents using unarmed insurgents as human shields. The MAGAts were just following the Hamas playbook.
