As evidenced by his activities on 9/11, Trump has shown that he has zero interest in the traditional role of former President.
He also skipped the inauguration, also traditionally attended by the outgoing president.
Thus properly - and understandably - following McCain’s family’s precedent.
Followed by a burial in Arlington where everyone but Trumps pays their last respect to the highest ranking black officer ever. A truely self made man.
Everyone will say, but where is the guy who claimed to love the military more than anyone?
Someplace where he can grift the marks.
I hope, though, that Trump doesn’t get buried at Arlington. I don’t think visitors are allowed to piss on graves there.

If there’s public access, they’ll probably put a (armed?) guard at his grave just to keep people from doing that. Be more difficult to keep people from spitting, though. They better equip the gravesite with a drain.
But he is an ex President, and has the legal entitlement to a ceremony with full honors and the option to be buried at Arlington National Cemetery.

I don’t know if you’re mistaken, but your cite says nothing about former presidents having that perk, and neither does this page outlining the Former Presidents Act at the National Archives. Meanwhile here’s a November 2020 WSJ story about a proposed Pentagon rule to allow former, non-military veteran presidents burial at Arlington and how that proposal was controversial.

Yikes. I would hope they never bury a current president.
That may have changed since 1998. See this page, particularly “§ 553.12 Eligibility for interment in Arlington National Cemetery” which allows for veterans who served as president or vice-president to be buried there.
They were trying to pass a bill earlier this year that would prevent a ‘twice impeached’ president from having the option of being buried at Arlington. I don’t know if they were thinking of anyone in particular…

I don’t think we have to worry about Trump showing up to pay his respects to Powell.
