7 Jan 2021 and beyond - the aftermath of the storming of the Capitol

Someone should tell Trump that when he dies he’ll get to be the center of attention.

What we need is a really good video editor who can replace Michael J. Fox with Donald J. Trump in that clip.

And the sooner he dies, the bigger the crowds!

Reminds me what was said of Theodore Roosevelt (a much better man than 45, and one of my favorite Republican Presidents), that he wanted to be the bride at every wedding, and the corpse at every funeral.

Here’s some news:

I kinda wish I could quote the whole story, there’s so many outrageous details in it.

These include:

  • He’s black and is claiming that his longer sentence is due to his skin color.
  • He didn’t actually participate in the riots, but did post a lot of violent threats on social media in the run-up to the event.
  • He has a long history of fraud convictions, and has claimed to be a veteran and a colonel despite having no military record.
  • He had bought a plane ticket to leave the country shortly before his arrest.

He said:

“I’m no Dr. King, but we do share same the skin color and the same idea of justice. I just want to be treated equally,”

To which the judge replied:

“People died fighting for civil rights,” she said. “For you to hold yourself up as somehow a soldier in that fight is very audacious.”

I like this judge.

I do find it odd that posting threats earned a longer sentence than actually breaking into the Capitol, but I suppose most of the sentences thus far have been for trespassing.

Usually, I don’t subscribe to this sort of stuff, but I’ve been hearing growing speculation over the past week, now speculated by people to whom I (relatively) trust, that Marjorie Taylor Greene may have been the DC pipe bomber?

Well that would put her in a whole nother level of crazy!

The sad thing is that, as absolutely batshit insane as that theory is, I can’t dismiss it completely out of hand. She really does appear to be that crazy.

Yeah, if the shoe fits… or matches, as the case may be.

Maybe O.J. Simpson will be an expert shoe witness for her at trial.

Apologies if this has already been mentioned.

Rolling Stone yesterday released a story in which they interviewed two planners of the 1/6 rally.

The two sources, both of whom have been granted anonymity due to the ongoing investigation, describe participating in “dozens” of planning briefings ahead of that day when Trump supporters broke into the Capitol as his election loss to President Joe Biden was being certified.

“I remember Marjorie Taylor Greene specifically,” the organizer says. “I remember talking to probably close to a dozen other members at one point or another or their staffs.”

Don’t promise what you can’t deliver, pal:

It’s getting more and more clear that these Republicans - Gosar, Boebert, Brooks, Cawthorn, Biggs and Gohmert - took an active part in trying to overthrow the democratically elected president.

To the point of dangling pardons for the stooges that they worked with to commit illegal acts.

If this is allowed to stand, the US is finished as a country. This will become the norm for Republicans going forward, and they’ll just try harder next time to overthrow the goverment.

Simply put, they are traitors, and need to be locked up in prison for a very long time.

Gonna say be cautious with the RS article as it seems to point to a carefully constructed ‘the violence was an accident’ theory. Despite the juicy tidbits, the one thing the article is careful NOT to state is whether violence was planned at the Capitol by the named Reps when they met with the WS leaders.

And yet they dangled the promise of pardons to the demonstrators.

Why the talk about pardons, if there was no plan for illegal activity?

Just saying that this is a piece of damning reporting, not a smoking gun. That’s all.

The pardons were “for another, unrelated investigation”.

Pull the other one, it’s got bells on.
