7 Jan 2021 and beyond - the aftermath of the storming of the Capitol

Easy enough to check other sources

Sure. It just wasn’t mentioned in the first one I checked.

They’re not just admitting it. They’re damned proud of being on the side of the insurrectionists.

That video of them bypassing McTurtle’s hand is something else. I would hope that makes an impression on him, but I doubt it did.

And he just stands there like an idiot w/ his hand out.

But he doesn’t care. Won’t affect his machinations.

The influence and numbers of flat-out white-supremacist anti-democracy members of all law enforcement–and likely much of the military–remains a problem that could easily explode.

In a normal human being, it would induce feelings of guilt and shame and be a cause for reflection. In a cold-blooded reptile, it didn’t even cause the head to be pulled into the shell in the slightest.

“Oh, the cameras are on and I’ve already got my hand out. Heh heh. Just pose like this, after the people move through the line the scene will change. Ha ha it’s like I’m high. Keep smiling. Smile.”

I loathe MM with the fiery passion of a thousand suns, but I think just about any politician would’ve reacted that way.

Maybe any politician who enabled the Trump Chaos Machine that resulted in Jan. 6, sure. But not just any politician! Any other politician would have recieved a grateful handshake.

Kevin didn’t. He just held onto the thing he was holding. Why were they even there? I honestly don’t know. Were they invited or is it standard practice? Just wondering out loud.

Fear of Missing Out

They are the leaders of the, for the moment, republicans in senate and Congress. They also gave a speech. They were holding the medals.

McConnel’s speech included the importance of the constitution, which Trump just suggested should be disregarded, and McCarthy’s speech made sure to point out that not just the Capitol police, but all police matter.

Their line is doubtlessly that the events of January 6 were a patriotic protest that in no way, shape, or form had any intent of dismantling the government or harming anybody, and that therefore fighting against it is akin to what liberals think of how cops were handling BLM. Whether they actually believe this or not is up for debate, to be sure.

CNN sez the Committee is considering criminal referrals to the DOJ of Trump, Meadows, Eastman, Clark, and Guiliani.

Wait, NM. “Considering” Eh? Yawn.

Talking Points Memo has some of the emails sent to/from Mark Meadows before Jan 6. A few excepts:

Guys, if there was ever a time to stand with our leader who has strengthened our military, stood for life for the unborn, supported Israel, built the wall , appointed conservative judges ect. And we lay down and abandon him JUST BECAUSE THE BIASED MEDIA HAS CALL THE ELECTION?? Now is the time to fight and ADVOCATE for a recount in GA, AZ, Pennsylvania!!

Mark, When we lose Trump we lose our Republic. Fight like hell and find a way. We’re with you down here in Texas and refuse to live under a corrupt Marxist dictatorship. Liberty! Babin

Holy moley, some of these are real nutters. Hoping that the Special Counsel indicts the lot of them.

This is quite a distressing report.

It has been reported here that as early as December 20th reports were circulated with details of the planned attacks on the capitol, but none of the various agencies got their ducks in a row enough to send out the proper intelligences and warnings.

Over those 16 days, this analyst and others inside DHS’s Office of Intelligence and Analysis saw the plot unfold in excruciating detail. They watched as maps of the Capitol access tunnels were circulated online, along with tactical information about how to smuggle illegal weapons into D.C. and which radio frequencies to use for communication during the attack. They saw threats to members of Congress and local D.C. and Capitol police, and operational plans for the attack. They saw online posts by people who said they had put their last will and testament in order and told their children they were going to Washington, D.C., to defend the country and were willing, and expecting, to die for their cause.

Every day, multiple times a day between Dec. 29 and Jan. 4, the analyst sounded the alarm on the urgent need for reporting that could be used to warn other agencies.

This was finally published on Jan. 8 — two days after the attack.

So who, exactly, shit-canned the report by this analyst.

It would be a good thing if names were named, and serious questions asked.
