7 Jan 2021 and beyond - the aftermath of the storming of the Capitol

Actually, I thought his prior attorneys were criminal enough.

Seriously though, you’re right that crim defense attorneys are very different critters from business / liability plaintiff attorneys.

I like how after being about as aggressively proud and self-incriminating as possible, now that he’s facing actual consequences he “has expressed regret for his actions”.

I hope he gets plenty more to regret, since he’s basically admitted to pretty much every crime possible.

Yeah, the jury trials could be a problem, but I’ve noticed that the civil actions that have been filed are mostly being filed in Washington DC.

It’s probably going to be easier to find a jury that won’t be hung by a Trump cultist in DC than it is elsewhere.

That phrase is open to more than one interpretation, given the “visual aid” provided by some of the insurrectionists:

Heh. The life of a politician.

I guess that’s what happens in a politics forum. :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

The last paragraph is key.

And he’ll promise to pay them in two weeks.

I’d wager the odds are better than even that in 2024 Trump is either dead or in jail. I’m not going to lose any sleep over his political prospects.

You seem to think either of those outcomes would matter to his followers. I am “hoping” he will get tired, leave the politics alone, and spend the rest of his life on the golf course where the most damage he can do is to the grass, or maybe a few fellow golfers.

More power to them!:

But will they still be sorry a few months from now? Or will they crow about how they got away with it?

“I’m sorry I got caught”

If anyone’s interested, heres the actual lawsuit, the court document. I can’t believe CNN didn’t even bother to link it.

Oh, holy shit, I just realized I’d been picturing Gohmert being fined over carrying a pole with a big round metal disk at the end all this time.

Maybe I’m actually a Republican?
