A crumby jelly MMP

When do you get to move into the permanent place?

Afternoon all. Rain has been postponed until 4-5pm according to the Weather Wizards, so we’ll see. Have dined and drank (sweet tea and water only) and probably will take a nap here shortly.

Sunny, good idea, not sure how hot it is where you are, but a hot house can be uncomfortable for pets. and congrats to the parents for 60 years of marriage (to each other, I presume…)

Ok, onward into the afternoon.

Whenever our household effects arrive. Hopefully in the next week or so.

HUSH YOUR MOUTH!!! (we still have four major appliances that haven’t been replaced this decade)

It’s supposed to be cooler today, it’s just after noon and 91F outside. I’m thinking it will top out at just around 100. Our home was designed for the desert, we probably won’t get hotter than mid-80s inside as long as we avoid heat producing activities. No cooking, laundry or dish washing during the day until this is fixed. Like I needed another excuse to avoid work

We don’t have a Hobbit House, but we do have lots of ceiling fans, no windows on the east and west sides of the house, good insulation and double paned windows. Our north facing back porch is long and deep as well as having a professional misting system. If it gets really bad, we can leave but I doubt it will get that bad. The cats will probably get verrry long this afternoon, LOL!

Kitty would probably be fine, I’d worry about the elderly dog. Besides, you are a good and thoughtful daughter who won’t want her parents to come home to a hot uncomfortable house.

Poor lil girl. It’s good she got lots of head rubs to make up for her fall. I hope she’s OK.

Hot as blazes here too. I started to pick up sticks and small limbs in the yard as the mower comes tomorrow but didn’t finish. I shall attack it again this late afternoon. The kids are going to cook a pork loin, cabbage, creamed corn and mashed potatoes for supper.

I futzed around and potted some succulents in a giant pot. I put seven or eight in one pot and it looks great. I need to do one more pot. The problem with the big pots is it takes too much dirt. I also transplanted a couple more tomatoes. The cuke is blooming so we tied it up so it can climb.

I have housework but I’m just not feeling it. Maybe tomorrow.

I wrote a check for my great niece’s graduation from high school. I don’t know her very well but would be an ass if I didn’t respond to the invite. $100 ain’t much but it’s all she’s getting from me.

Happy Sunday everyone.

I’m (presumably) graduating again in September. Hint, hint…

My phone just told me that we’re under a severe thunderstorm watch for the next few hours. My dog is better than radar in that regard: currently she’s peacefully snoozing on the couch, but I’ll know the storm is imminent when she either starts shaking or decamps to the bathroom (her “storm spot”).

My house faces mostly west (a little northwest), and late spring through early fall the evening sun is SUPER bright through the front blinds. Not only does it create serious glare on the TV, it also adds unwanted heat to the living room. It wasn’t much of an issue before the pandemic, because during the week I’d get home after the worst of it, but it really bothered me in 2020. Last year, I MacGyver-ed a solution by binder-clipping a room-darkening curtain — same color as the walls — to the top of the blinds. It worked great! So, I’m doing the same this year: I put it up a month or so ago, and it’ll stay there until at least Labor Day. It looks kinda weird, and I have to turn the living room light on earlier than I would otherwise, but on days like today (and yesterday) it makes a big difference. If I ever had company I’d probably take it down for the duration of their visit, but I don’t remember the last time someone was in my house who I wasn’t paying to clean/fix something.

I always leave the AC on for my (old) girl. Maybe not set as low as I like it for myself, but I think AC is more important for her in summer than heat is in winter.

I’m glad that Echo wasn’t hurt from her fall sari.

oopsie, I’m just about twice the distance between you and Moooooom from metal mouse, so we get mostly the same weather too.

sunny, your folks’ pupper needs some AC. Good on you for making sure he gets it. Happy anniversary to your folks.

Here are the promised pics of the potted plants. I planted a couple of Gerbera daisies (the only bloom that does well in my shaded yard), a purple palace coral bell, sweet basil, English thyme and replaced the peppermint.

I screwed up when I did the load of clothes yesterday and just discovered it today when I went to fold them. I left a tube of lipstick in the pocket of a pair of capris. I’ve done that just enough to know that if I catch it before it hits the dryer, only the lipstick is a loss. I didn’t. :frowning: Fortunately, there wasn’t a lot that got the brunt. The stains came out of the pink polo (close to the same color), I didn’t bother with the drawers, and the khaki capris only got a little close to the pocket. The white gauze shirt that I wear over tank tops and the white capris though! I’m thinking a tie dying project is in my near future. :stuck_out_tongue:

I made a pot of aig roll soup for supper that’s pretty good.

Times have changed - I got diddly squat for my graduations! Somebody owes me big time!!! :stuck_out_tongue:

Alexa told me our area can expect severe t-boomers thru 9 tonight. Still a lot of sun out there.

Daughter and the grands came by after a playdate with one of Roxy’s classmates who lives near me. They stayed for meatloaf and just left. So it’s quiet again, except for Higgs raising a ruckus on the back deck. Dishwasher is sloshing away and chillage is in order for the rest of the day.

Howdy Y’all! We deheathenated, got the gardens blessed, had a nice reception and then got back to da cave, where upon da bear achieved a very nice nap. I really like the Luterun Assistant Bishop. A super nice person and a hoot, as well. She will be back a couple of more times with us durin’ the Summer and I look forward to that, We just had a really good tboomer which we enjoyed whilst day drinkin’ on the back porch.

Jane The Cane hope the a/c is actin’ better today. One cannot be without a/c when it’s hawt out.

Cookie glad y’all made it to MSP safe and sound. I hope you get settled in the permanent new digs soonest.

And now this…

Thank you, the AC guy won’t be in his office until Moanday, but I’m very sure that Hubs will be burning up his line before opening just in case. It wasn’t bad here, the outside temp topped out at 96 and we used fans and such so the house didn’t get over 82. That’s not horrible.

We didn’t think about the sun and windows until we bought our last place with east/west facing windows. When we were looking at this place, it was something we thought about a lot!

I hate it when that happens. It’s usually chapstick for us and I once did it with a shirt I really liked so I boiled the shirt for a while. That melted the wax or whatever it is they are made with and then I could attack the stain with conventional means.

Happy birthday Hippy! I hope you had a great day!

I was just stitching along and wanted to adjust my scrolling frame:

Imgur

Hubs bought the frames for me when we were dating which was /mumbles/ around 40 years ago. I was really proud of him for finding just the right thing when I didn’t think he even knew where the needlework place was.

So, anyhow, the knobs on the end screw over the threaded end bars. This is a very useful sort of frame for large pieces as you don’t have to be reaching all over the place to work. I went to move the fabric and one of the knobs lost it’s screw threads. Never having heard of such a thing before, I called Mom and we both laughed about it. Happily, hubs had the foresight to buy extra knobs so I’m back in business.

Cleaned, napped, watched sports. making Bojangles seasoned poke loin for dinner, with collards and sweet N.O.T.s.

Cooler than work, but I still hope it gets fixed fast.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY HIPPIE!!!

I’m exhausted, but alive. Just wanted to check in.

Plus I wasn’t working!

Tomorrow should be fairly nice as well, Tuesday won’t be as pleasant.

: gentle tacklehug :
Thnks for checking in?

How did you sneak in?

Keep staying alive and remember to eat!

Glad to hear from you, shoe

hippie, a most gracious completion of another orbit of the sun.

shoe, it is a nicer world when you’re alive in it. Take care.

Sari, glad Echo seems to be OK.

Rain showed up about 6pm and woke me from my nap. Big Bowl O’Sallit has been consumed and just about caught up with all my sites that I had been missing for a couple of weeks. Tomorrow will be a bit busy and we’ll see how my first full week home post-vacation goes. I was able to download my vacation pictures from both my camera and phone, so hopefully I’ll get them on the Book of Faces sometime this coming week.

All y’all take care and I’ll catch you on the next MMP.

Happy Birthday Hippie!!

Huzzah! I’m glad you’re among the living. Eat! Rest! Tell us what’s happening when you can. I worry. I’m a worrier.

Sari How’s Echo doing?

Right now it’s mostly just exhausting. We’re all working serious hours & running our tails off.

Hopefully it’ll be worth it.
