We had a nice time at the marine museum. FIL seemed to really enjoy it, tho it tired him out, even with FCD pushing him around in the wheelchair. Then we went to Olive Garden for soup and salad, late enough that we won’t have supper tonight. After that, we went back to the marina so FCD could start the engine and so his folks could see the outside of the boat.
Whether we go tomorrow or not depends on FIL. He crashed about 3, which is when we were going to go tomorrow (Yes, I lost that battle) but if he’s feeling bad tomorrow, we won’t go. Is it evil of me to hope he doesn’t feel up to it?
Daughter has removed most of her stuff from the basement - apart from the Frozen decorations in Roxy’s play area, it looks back to normal. Speaking of which - “I’m Elsa!”
Tomorrow or the next day, I’ll move the treadmill and bike back so we can start our workouts after we return from Fl.
It’s starting to cloud over, so rain may hit us. Chillage shall ensue here.
wet one, coffee with skim milk is just wrong. Granted, I usually use 2%, but at least the coffee gets blonde.
Irked, came home, let Nelson off leash during our walk long enough to play with Sugar and Sully next door. A good time was had by all. As I was eating, the maintenance guy called and asked if it was OK to come in to replace the blinds. I figured he’d be here by now. Oh, well. If he doesn’t come this evening, Nelson will be crated tomorrow.
We live about five miles away from the Archosanti. It’s residents tend to be idealistic potheads, so of course I fit right in.
I’m praying it will be there tomorrow, it’s under siege by fire right now. I’ve spent my afternoon watching the slurry bombers diving but the only other water source out there is the Archosanti’s well and I’m not sure if the fire fighters access that water. Worry, worry, worry.
It is really cool. I always take out of state visitors there, the food is rather indifferent but they make really good bread and the bells make a great gift. Like anyone who is living their dream, the folks who live and work there lovelovelove visitors and think that show and tell is a great way to demonstrate their art.
FTR, if the wind turns and the fire comes this way our home is the one on the block the firefighters will focus on because we pay attention to keeping our place fire defensible and the firefighters know that that they have a better chance to save a defensible place than one with dry weeds growing up to the walls.
Howdy Y’all! Home from men’s night over to the church house. We had a good crowd and, as usual, 'twas fun and we solved all the world’s problem. Of course, no one listens to us, but that’s the world’s loss.
Ace, MOOOOOOM and N!uts it’s so hard to live amongst all the crumby heathen is it not! Also, talky scoopin’ off the top of the butter is somethin’ one would expect of only Satan!
WetOne I have never had Half and Half go bad and I’m the only one that uses it daily. Then again, maybe I drink bad Half and Half and don’t know that I do. I’m just that way. Happy second week of retirement!
Talky goin’ into a wave of plague would be a big no for me as well.
VanGo glad you had a good visit with the 'rents.
Quietly yay for the landscapers and havin’ a purty new yahd!
Nellie those would be two good stories to tell a new dentist. That way, the dentist knows to behave from the start.
Die I’m with you on ants and other outside critters. It’s fine as long as they stay outside. However, come in da cave and it’s war!
Jane The Cane in GG’s defense, it was a purty, shiny, brand new spool of cotton. He just could not help himself, poor thing!
Agreed. If they stay in their territory I won’t bother them and they can go on about their short little excessively-legged lives. Invade my territory and they go SQUISH.
Cats are well known for this, even past the kitten stage. Birds too. Ava (RB) would steal embroidery floss and such to use for nest-building.
When I was stitching outside, I would always snip my floss and let it fly in the wind assuming that birds would use it for nesting. One day I was at a stitching thing and got scolded for doing that because the fibers could hold moisture and get moldy which isn’t good at all for fragile baby birds. Of course your well loved Ava didn’t need to worry about rain but I felt the need to tell you about it anyway.
I don’t use half and half, but I’ve never had cream go bad. Usually the higher the fat content, the longer the bottle lasts.
Thank you for your kind words. I’m a big fan of yours as well. Hubs and I have learned how to live with wildfire bug outs over the years. We have a plan, we have our bug out bags and we have good insurance. As long as the people and critters are safe, all the rest is stuff.
All of the smoke I’m seeing around the Archosanti is white now. That is a good sign, it means they have a handle on the fire. Black smoke means stuff is still burning, or that the 120 Cardinals (state bird, btw) haven’t made up their minds yet which could be the same thing.
The fire has been moved north, it seems as though the Archosanti is saved which is a good thing IMO. It’s headed towards the I17 now which won’t be a very good thing for travelers. The wind has died down so I doubt the fire will jump the interstate.
Evening all. Made the attempt to go see Mt. St. Helen’s, got within 20 miles of the (currently closed) visitor center nearest the peak, but the weather was cold, raining, and heavy fog on a twisting 2-lane road…so I called it, at least now I have an excuse to come back out this way. Turned in my rental car and re-booked my flight (I was leaving about noon Portland time and getting back home near 9pm Ali-bama time; now I leave at 7:30am and get in about 4:30pm). 7:30am flight means the Rat gets up about 4:30am so it will be a short night tonight. Did make it down to Powell’s Books, it has appeared on lists as one of the best bookstores in the US, and after 45 minutes (and not beginning to cover the place), I tend to agree. Bought three books and only the threat of overweight luggage kept me from doing more damage.
I take no position on the great jam/crumb question, haven’t had jam on my toast for years, and usually only use the toasters for my BLT sammiches. And being a (slightly) slovenly bachelor, crumbs anywhere don’t upset me (except in my underpants…
Jane the Cane, hope you and your Archosanti friends stay safe.
FCM, charming pictures of the kids! I only drool that much for ice cream.
Wheelie, hope the mortgage gets approved, and $43 is about as close as you can get.
Nona, good luck with the tooth cleaning; my problem with it isn’t the poking or prodding, it’s when they ‘polish’ my teeth using a high-speed brush that when it contacts my gums makes me twitch something fierce…doesn’t hurt, just a weird feeling.
OK, hugs and happy thoughts to all, I need to finish packing so I can toss on my clothes and catch the 5am shuttle to the airport. Hopefully will catch up tomorrow evening once delivered safely to my abode.
