A crumby jelly MMP

Ugh as well for the skim milk. I used to try and save money by using margarine, and 2% milk for everything. I’m retired now and have decided life is too short for that, so I buy butter, heavy cream for the coffee, and good quality brie when I want a snack on crackers.

FCM that baby is adorable!

Howdy everyone. A new week is upon us. I have developed a terrible habit of staying up all night and sleeping all day. I am going to try to change that tonight.

Mooommm put a spoon in the jelly jar beforehand. It would drive me insane. I guess since you already have crumbs the damage is done. Cute RoxStar and baby. He has the biggest eyes.

I spent more time today repotting some succulents. Ran out of dirt so a dirt run has to happen in the morning or whenever I awake. I didn’t get up today till noon or later.

I always wanted plantation shutters so I have ordered them for the five windows. The company had to come back today and measure again. I take that to mean the factory is ready to make them. I paid half the bill and the guy told my up to 12 weeks. It’s been 6 already. I want my shutters now.

Happy week everyone and stay well.

Explain how that’s terrible. I’d live that way if I could!

I was wondering about that myself. The worse part about working for me was being forced to get up way too early in the morning so I could be there on time. Now that I’m happily retired, I get up around 10. It’s wonderful.

Buddy is definitely not shy about making his wishes known. He started pushing at the laptop to get it out of his way so HE could have the lap.

I was heading off to bed when I heard horrible wails of despair echoing from my sewing room. Of course I scurried in to see what was wrong and saw that while GG was able to squeeze himself under the dresser just like has always been able to do it before, he couldn’t get out.

Hubs thinks that I’m a very bad person because I tipped the dresser back before telling him what was going on so we both could laugh at our gormless guy.

Isn’t quite clear on his current size, is he?

Just found out that we’re now able to order a third batch of Covid tests, 8 this time (2 batches of four). Submitted my order. Haven’t used them yet, but seems like a good idea to have them on hand.

Up, caffeinated, and sheveled. Off to heave.

He forgot cats are liquids?

Morning, mumpers! It’s 15c/59F and predicted to hit 21c/70f later. The weather app says “it’s probably a good day to stay the fuck in bed. Today will probably suck”. And apparently it’s also partly cloudy. Well, not from where I’m sitting, it isn’t.

metalmouse I’ve been to Powell’s twice, I could honestly spend the entire day in there but blokie has to set a time limit otherwise we’d never do anything else. And I’d spend a fortune in there too. I did enjoy our time in Portland, we had some help from a local friend who pointed us towards some good places to go for food and drinks. We are planning a return visit at some point in the future.

Current travel plans are a bit fluid, we are looking at somewhere to go over xmas/new year and had considered Hawaii (all based on tier points, reward flights and other things that make booking less than straightforward). Turns out the flights were reasonable but the hotels were extortionate so that idea got binned. He’s considering San Diego but not sure how many bars/restaurants would be open over xmas as it’s more of a city centre location.

Jane the Cane fingers crossed that your house is safe! Archosanti looks like a very interesting place, I wish I’d known about it before now as we did a trip through Paige, Flagstaff and Sedona a few years ago and could have diverted to visit there too.

Just adding my tuppence ha’penny to the skimmed milk debate…the stuff’s really not worth having. If you’re going to put skimmed milk in your coffee (or tea), you might just as well save the money and just put cold water in.

Mooooom sorry to hear you lost the Battle of the Boat Trip, fingers crossed that FIL decides he doesn’t feel up to it instead.

Busy morning for me, I have a team meeting, then a Heads of Education meeting, and then a Professional Services lunch at the Barber Institute of Fine Arts. Fortunately the Barber is all of five minutes’ walk from my office so not far to go. Not that I particularly want to go, it’s been organised by our Ops Manager so we can all get together because we haven’t “seen” each other in person for ages. Except half of us aren’t on campus on a Tuesday and those who aren’t scheduled to come in today are not particularly keen on coming in for a extra campus day! Also, campus catering is not the best, they are the people who came up with the brilliant idea of a couscous sandwich, and a mushroom paté version that looked like poo.

At least the jar of strawberry jam was close to empty, and she didn’t touch my blueberry! And we head to FL the day after tomorrow…

That’s the most common comment when people first meet him. Kid’s gonna get an attitude if we’re not careful!

If I did that, I’d consider my day pretty much shot. Even in retirement, I’m generally up before 6. Then again, that’s my “me” time - I get the quiet to myself.

Wait - you actually have your laptop on your lap?? What a concept!!!

Thanks for the link - I shared it and ordered some more for us… just in case…

I’ve tossed a load of the in-laws’ laundry in the washer - they’ll be out of the dryer before MIL wakes, but I’ll leave them on the couch for her to fold. My helpfulness only goes so far.

Main chore today is to get the yard mowed. I’ll start with the ditches, then ride John Deere around. I’m sure the neighbors will be glad that the property will look less, um, abandoned. :open_mouth: But with all the rain, it’s been tough to get it done. And if I can’t finish today, there’s tomorrow.

IF the boat ride doesn’t happen, daughter and her family are coming over for pizza night. So the balance of the day is still up in the air. I’m just aiming for Thursday - once I pick up Roxy and deliver her to her mother, we’ll load the car and head to points south. With luck, we can be on the road by 4 and we can drive 4 or 5 hours before stopping somewhere in NC for the night. Then we’ll get to Ocala on Firday afternoon, spend the night, and depart for our return on Saturday. At least that’s the plan right now. I’ll be glad to get back to our boring routine.

Happy Tuesday!!

Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffeinatin’. YAWN ‘Tis 66 Amurrkin out and clear with a predicted high of 96 and N.O.S. for the day. Summer is definitely back this week. Today is just chock full of excitatement, well, for us anyway. The bug man comes at eight, I have a doc appointment at nine-fifteen, OYKW has an appointment with the eye doc at ten, and today is laundry day. Plus somehow we need to fit in sloth, nappage, and day drinkin’. Sup shall be tacos 'n fixin’s, rice, and beans. Fartfest to follow.

OK, I shall feed rumbly tummy, caffeinate a little more, and then, alas, alack, and bother of bothers, I suppose I must purtify. One has to be presentable for the doc (or the PA, whom I would prefer to see). Woe is me!

Happy Tuesday Y’all!

Morning. I have not been to sleep yet. I tried several times but it just wasn’t meant to be. I think I’ll hit Lowes early for dirt and nap when that’s done. Then I’ll do my gardening this afternoon. I’m gonna get a bottle of Mel. This is ridiculous.

When I saw the periodontist for my implant(s) he said my sinuses were clogged and before he would do the implant he needed an ENT to sign off. I called around and got an appointment. Of course the ENT needed at CT scan and also ordered allergy testing of my blood. I haven’t been back yet to see what he says but the blood results are on a portal and I am allergic to just about everything. I am gonna post a list later.

Thanks Nettie. I just ordered mine. I have only used one of the others when I was having an allergy attack just to rule it out. I hope I won’t need them.

Have a lovely Tuesday everyone.

Mornin, all. About to leave the house and drop the truck off at my buddy’s car fixin’ shop to get a new steering rack installed. He’s gonna loan me his car so’s I can get around for the day, and if’n all goes well I’ll get the truck back and deliver the second cabinet to him as barter for the truck work.

Then I gotta make the house brother proof. My bro is travelling to go to his daughter’s HS graduation and stopping here, as it’s roughly halfway. He can be a bit much sometimes.

Now, onward! Stay safe, all.

Good morning everyone.

Yesterday was the second of my pay period work in the office days and tomorrow will be my third. I was in Olympia at 4:55 am, out of the grocery store by 5:10, and in my office by 5:14. Getting there that early makes for a long day, but on the other hand, I tend to leave a little earlier than normal too. I can “count” my time starting at 6:00 which is what I usually do.

I have a lot to get done today and tomorrow and then I’m off starting Thursday. On Monday, I head over to Okanogan for a whirlwind tour of meet and greets with local officials in that area (we’re visiting three towns). Two days in that area, and then we head south to Wenatchee. We are just stopping their to sleep because otherwise, we’re not getting home until 11:00 pm at the earliest and I’m just not going to do that.

I hope the boat trip is scuttled, FCM. But, if you still have to go, I hope it’s a smooth day.

I do not buy skim milk and I buy heavy cream. I don’t actually drink milk, but I enjoy the occasional bowl of cereal and sometimes use cream in a recipe. I drink my coffee black. I also buy butter, not margarine. Why buy stuff to “save” money when it ends up getting tossed because we don’t eat or drink it.

Hope the brother’s stay goes well, VanGo.

Well, I need to get the last of the dishes in the dishwasher before I head upstairs to work. You all have a terrific Tuesday!

Mowage is done - and boy was it needed!! I still need to do a bit of week-whacking, but I’ll save that fun for tomorrow. FCD is cleaning the boat - he should get home in a couple of hours. I’m showered and dressed and the ice maker is churning out cubes to go with us this afternoon.

Inlaws have been futzing with their laundry - I think they’re starting to pack. They’re ready to go home. We’re ready, too. Honestly, I can’t think of any house guests I’d want staying here for a week or more. Two or 3 days and I’m done being a gracious host! :grimacing: Well, except for Mumpers - one never gets tired of Mumpers.

Are you sure they’re accurate? Blood allergy tests don’t work for everyone; I had one some years back, and I registered as ‘highly allergic’ to literally everything that they tested for. Seeing as I don’t go into anaphalactic shock about every 10 minutes, which I’m pretty sure would have happened were my true allergies as indicated, the specialist told me to ignore the results as meaningless. I actually have a mild contact allergy to nickel and possibly a reaction to black mold, but that’s it.

*crosses Boofae’s campus off list of places to visit*

I seem to be suffering from an outbreak of volunteerism; the campus here is supposedly having a bit of a shakeup, so has been asking for feedback on various things- I appear to be almost the only student actually showing up to most of them. Just went to one, and I’ve signed up for another meeting for specific course feedback on Thursday. I really will do anything rather than write essays…

Well, today marks exactly a quarter century since Mrs W and I said our “I Do’s”.
We’re keeping it low-key, as buying a house is pretty much eating up all of this year’s discretionary income. But we have reservations tonight at one of our favorite local spots, a decent enough restaurant/brewery with a fantastic ocean view. We’ll be there for sunset and I’ve asked for a window table. That’s romantic enough for us.

But man, twenty-five years! It feels both longer than that and not that long, if you know what I mean. I can barely remember a time before her, yet the memories of our early days together still seem fresh.

I managed to get up & waddle at 5:30 this morning - go me. I’m glad I had a friend waiting on me, or surely I’d have slapped my alarm into silence when it went off.

Work is frighteningly quiet today - hoping it doesn’t bode ill. So to distract myself, I’m going to find out (hopefully somewhat soon) whether it’s possible to successfully smoke a brisket on a gas grill. I tried once before and it wound up a bit pot-roasty, but good. Here’s hoping that the second time’s a charm. As an added bonus, since I’m working I’m less likely to keep opening the grill to check said brisket, thereby letting tons of smoke escape.

Best of luck making the house brother proof, VanGo - hopefully you will tell us tales of your (uninjured) adventures soon. 'Cause I’ve got no adventures and I need to live vicariously through someone.

The shelter said she was one year old based on her teeth. That was verified yesterday by Dr. Mac - my vet for the last 25 years. So sadly Lola is just a long lost cousin to Nelson.

Now to go and catch up on the rest of this MMP.
