A crumby jelly MMP

{{{FCM and FCD}}} That is the worst. They don’t have any kind of living will, or health care power of attorney designated? I can’t imagine what MIL is going through either. Mr Rebo and I did that paperwork a few years ago.

It’s supposed to remain record-breakingly hot here, until SUNDAY SUNDAY SUNDAY! When the thunderboomers will be here for a week. Probably get some flooding to go with our drought. Texas is the rollercoaster of weather, I tell ya.

Happy Firday all a y’all!

FCD has their wills/end-of-life wishes and all that - I don’t know what exactly is in it. I do know this is tearing him apart and there’s nothing he can do. His parents are stubborn and determined they’ll do this themselves. We’re at a loss.

On the plus side, I’ve got the sheets on the line and I tidied the kitchen. I’ll take the little things when I can.

Happy Friday!

Up, caffeinating, breakfasted, a load of towels ready for the dryer and a load of clothes on deck. The usual Friday chores, paying bills and pulling out a sympathy card for a cousin who just lost her husband slated for today.

I have a feeling that my dad will be giving my cousin some financial assistance to move back to Indiana before it’s all over. I don’t have an issue with it. She lost her management job in hospital dietary last summer and, at her age, had to take a job that paid about half of her previous income. She and her husband were living in Nevada for health reasons on his part and he was older than she was. So now, she’s lost about half her remaining household income and I don’t think she has anything saved to cover it. I figure she’ll go back to Indiana to live close to her kids. It will be nice to have her near my dad as well. Shoot, it wouldn’t surprise me if she stayed with him for a while when she got there (she and her kids did stay with my folks when she was going through her divorce to their father).

I just rescued Rocky Raccoon from the bedroom for Nelson, so he’s settled down now.

Stay safe and healthy y’all!

Afternoon, mumpers! It’s 15c/58f here and cloudy. Weather app says “It’s sort of gloomy as fuck outside. It’s like a goth fucking weather day”. I’d agree with that, it’s humid but gloomy and grey at the same time. On the plus side, it’s Friday and I have less than 2hrs left at irk. I have achieved the one thing on my list for today, which was the thing I couldn’t be bothered doing yesterday!

(((((Mooom and FCD))))) Sounds like a really horrible situation for you both. It must be awful for FCD knowing he has to leave his parents there, and knowing they are in such a bad way. Doing it alone isn’t going to help - hopefully his car will be ok to drive back and he can get out today if that’s how he feels.

Rebo hope you and Lola are keeping cool! No extreme weather here and I miss a good thundertstorm.

netti hope you both feel better soon, good to know that the test was negative too.

shoe haven’t seen you around for a bit, hope you’re ok and keeping all your pieces together. Mumpers miss ya!

We went out last night to bounce around to a couple of bands at a local music venue. Missed the first of the four bands because it was too early for us to get there in time, turned up as the second band was starting. They are a local bunch so we’ve seen them a few times before. The other two bands are both ones we’d not seen before, one’s from Finland and the other from Sweden (which doesn’t explain the large tour van in the car park outside with German plates on it)…very good night out, gig finished just after 11.30pm so it’s a good job I am working from home today.

Every other Friday would be nice. We were being paid on the 1st and the 15th, and often I’d see the money in my account early. As of the first of the year, that changed to the 5th and the 20th, which is a pain because my mortgage payment is automatically deducted on the 1st. I just checked, and I’ve been paid as of this morning.

Good morning everyone.

Thank you all for the birthday wishes.

FCM, I am so sorry you and FCD are going through this. It all sounds horrible, frustrating and heartbreaking. I can’t believe that MiL just doesn’t see that FiL is at the point where needs care and is a danger to himself and her.

It’s currently somewhat cloudy outside and around 43 degrees and the high will be somewhere in the low 60s with partly cloudy to mostly cloudy skies.

We are supposed to go to the Nisqually Wildlife Refuge today, so I hope they’re right about no rain.

Yesterday, I renewed my license online, got my hair done, and went to the mall for a couple of pair of slacks, boulder holders, and maybe a blouse. I came home with some jeans, slacks, and boulder holders. I will have to make do with my tops unless I gird my loins and go again tomorrow or Sunday. My weight gain has continued and I just hate shopping for clothes. I have been trying to walk here and there, but haven’t found my rhythm or determination. I’m disgusted with my looks and myself, yet somehow can’t find the will to really do something about it. Ironically, I eat little and mostly eat healthy foods with little to no processed foods. I eat mainly proteins and vegetables, and my only downfall is a bit of ice cream in the evenings. The husband and I share a pint container and we don’t do it every evening.

Anyway, sending hugs and boos where needed. Have a great day!

5th and 20th? Don’t know if I ever heard of that routine. Guess you’ll get used to it, but still sounds like a hassle.

{{FCM}}, hope FCD makes it back OK. It’s not fun for family when a parent begins to lose all contact with reality…my dad hardly knew who I was at the end. But I sadly think you’re right, next trip down there may be the one to pay final respects.

Boo fae, glad the bands are out and touring again for you.

VanGo, still have about 12% oil shelf life, but car is nearing 50,000 miles so I’ll probably take it in for a full checkup here soon (of course, soon for me might be August…). Hope the leak is plugged.

Jane the Cane, that’s hilarious about the gun storage lockers that can’t store things. And I think

might just be a mis-quote?

OK, I made a list last night of things to do, one of them is downloading my vacation pictures, so that will be done (sometime soon…). All have to mow and since it is already 77F outside, best be done quickly. All y’all take care.

Yeah, were I not paying for the new roof we got last October or November, it wouldn’t be so bad. But the new schedule with the extra expense is a bit of a squeeze at the first of the month. Payments on the roof loan are due on the 7th.

Yay, Friday!

Overlyboy starts his first job this evening. He’s super excited - particularly for the first paycheck. He’ll be working concessions at his favorite place: the skating rink. He figured if he can’t skate yet due to surgery, he can at least work there. I reminded him a million times that he was there to work and incurred the wrath of the teenager (probably deservedly so). Anyway, mid-June he’ll be able to skate and may be able to be the skating police: you know, the guys that skate around asking, “You ok? You good? Need some help?” on the rink. I’m just somewhat excited to have him out of the house.

I’m still trying to get my brain to wake up. I might need to get out for a waddle between raindrops because the coffee isn’t working. It’s gorgeous and sunny right now, but it was like that earlier when it started pouring. Which was super pretty but not entirely conducive to walking then working. I don’t want to dribble on my laptop.

My daughter did that a few years - she also ran b-day parties at the rink and worked concessions. She enjoyed those days.

FCD just called. His car needs $2500 for repairs but he’s really impressed with the shop. He’ll get the car tonight or first thing tomorrow. His dad still doesn’t recognize him, but he does know the youngest son. It’s tearing my sweetie apart.

Meanwhile, I have some babby time!

I’ve ordered another lighter for my Zippo collection. They’re retiring it, so I thought I’d get it.

I have a display frame (shadow box?) with one empty place. That place is reserved for a lighter I bought a quarter of a century ago. I haven’t seen it in a couple of decades, but I think it’s in the house somewhere. (Hey, maybe if I find it, I’ll find my Hamilton Ventura watch at the same time! (He said hopefully.)) I bought a Case (knife) lighter when I bought the display case so that the order could qualify for free shipping. Now, one of my favourite pocket knives in my collection is a Case knife; but I can remove it from the case and replace it with the USAF one.

@Johnny_L.A - You might contact your mortgage company, and change your payment date to after the 20th.

I think there’s only three or three and a half years left on the mortgage. I could try, though.

It sounds like we should all plan our road trip to Butters place! I would love to see that. (No, I would never come without an invitation.) It sounds very cool and I am jealous.

Have you thought about calling Adult/Senior Protective Services for them? It’s similar to Child Protective Services for Seniors. I have no idea if they have it in Florida or what it’s called, but they may be able to get him/them some help. It’s clearly not safe for things to continue as they are. My condolences and best wishes to your sweetie and the family.

Maybe he should check for the medical POA that Rebo mentioned? If it’s there, it may be time to overrule their wishes.

I guess I’m harping on this a bit too. My grandmother went through this too, and it’s awful.

Nettie The wind is gusting here too. I am so glad they caught those arsonists recently. I hate to think what a fire would do in the these conditions. I’m glad Buddy is settling in. Are you planning to convert him to indoor-only? He sounds like a very sweet kitty.

flyboy Those are extremely random pay dates. Can you shift the automatic mortgage payment to another date (which I see Rebo has already asked)?

taters hugs to you too. I hope you enjoy the refuge. What sort of wildlife is it known for?

I went for a short walk with my mom and the dogs today. It’s windy, but the temps aren’t too high yet. I tidied the kitchen and I am about to do a grocery order. I’m not sure that I get too much else done today.

Happy Friday!!!

Took a break from irk to walk down the beach past The Beach (‘5 star dive bar’), Beach Cat Brewing, and Bay Breeze restaurant for 2.56 miles, 52:59 minutes (the gravel parts of the berm slow me down).

FCM I am so sorry for you, FCD and FCIL, what a horrible ordeal for everyone involved.

When I was working there, I refused to allow hubs into the building because I just knew he would want to use one of the lockers and I would have to listen to the fall out for weeks. I told him he could go after I retired, but he didn’t really want to go and make a fuss just to make a fuss. He’s got online monsters to kill after all!

You are a good mommy!

FCD’s car is fixed - came in just under $2600. OUCH! But he was very impressed with the shop. Plus since he was a traveler, they bumped him to the front of the line! How cool is that?!? He’s too tired to drive today, so he’s going to crash early, then leave early in the morning.

His dad is kinda sorta returning to more normal - he no longer thinks his eldest son is his wife’s secret lover. But he kept asking for his middle son, who’s lived in Texas for several years. Here’s hoping being back in his old routine and on a regular schedule will bring him around a bit more. I’ll talk to FCD about the medical POA, but as you might imagine, he’s reluctant do anything to upset his parents. We’ll figure something out, I hope.

Meanwhile, I’m a sweaty mess! right after I fed Higgs, I decided I should weed and plant the veggie patch. Seeing Butters’ garden pics on FB shamed me! :flushed: So I cleared the nasties out, broke up the soil and watered it, then planted cherry 'maters, beefsteak ‘maters, cukes, zukes, and bell peppers. Then watered some more. I’ll set the sprinkler in the morning before it gets too hot (it’s 88-freekin’-degrees right now) and give the bed a good drink.

I’ve got 2 loads of laundry to do in the morning, and I’ll run the vacuum and make the guest bed up since the sheets are clean. I’ll also have to turn the air on - FCD would be dying in the house right now. I’m not particularly comfortable, but I think a shower will help, and it’ll cool down overnight. I do love our attic fan - it keeps the air moving up there - sucking it in from the north end of the house and blowing it out the south gable. Plus we have ceiling fans in most rooms.

Anyway, I think I’ll shower and return to my reading.

Pretty sure at this point he wouldn’t have that.

Howdy Y’all! I did my duty and then spent the rest of the day bein’ a sloth. Quality cee-mint pond time, nappage, a little day drinkin’, the whole works. Then sup got et. The End.

I hope that you and your hubby are feeling better seanette.

{{{FCFamily}}} I can’t add anything to others’ advice, but sending you good wishes for whatever comes next.

Congrats to overlyboy wordy.

Friday chores are complete, groceries are bought and plans made with SIL (and maybe niece) for the Lao new year festival at the local temple / tour (for them) of my local ethnic markets (we have a bunch of them).

Mpw. I’m gonna mess around in the studio. Tomorrow, I’ll exchange the CO2 cartridge for the SodaStream TM and go to Lowe’s for some daisy and herb plants for patio / yard cleanup.
