A crumby jelly MMP

Evening all. Lawn has been mowed (in the middle of the afternoon of course…), Will reviewed (I go in to sign it on Moanday) and meals eaten out (hey, I won $400 on the cruise playing blackjack, so I have a little more cash than I planned on). Can’t download the pictures from my phone as the power cord doesn’t have a USB and the one I bought at wal-Mart a bit ago is to small for the phone. Guess I’ll have to visit the Verizon store tomorrow if I have a chance (refereeing 3 youth soccer games starting at 8:30am).

FCM, costly car fix, but better peace of mind for you and FCD. Hope he doesn;t push too hard tomorrow trying to get home.

talkie, hope Overlyboy enjoys his work. I remember my first day at the Restaurant…8 hours of doing dishes, I was so exhausted…

OK, need to do some you-tubing and then take a nice hot bath so I’ll sleep good (at least until the alarm goes off at 7am…)

All y’all have a great weekend now.

You have given something new to research!

Metal Mouse Are you getting up early for soccer reasons?

We are having Afghani food dinner. :yum:

Happy Firday!

It was a rainy morning at the park. Then the sun came out. Now it’s cloudy and one of my neighbors texted that we are under a tornado watch until 7pm.
No tornados, we didn’t even get rain.
No Barky at the park because of the rain.
Nellie, Barky has been coming a lot of days. I usually find an excuse to skip those days. She was going this morning and then the rain started. Since doodles are like sponges in the rain, she stayed home.
It was only Lucy and us.
I wish some of the others would come.
I saw that there was an incident a day or so ago, a dog attack that involved the police and the paramedics. Unneutered male dog, again. Big sign on the gate, NO UNNEUTERED MALES and yet, people still keep bringing them.

Annoying morning. I had to get gas. $74 friggin dollars. Then I had to pick up prescriptions.
Can I just say FUCK MEDICARE!
Prescriptions that used to be under $10 for a 90-day supply are now almost $300.

I’m sorry for what FCD is going through with his father. I’ve only known two people with Parkinson’s and neither had dementia with it. My aunt with it just turned 90 and she is mentally sharp, Physically, not so good, but she has multiple health issues.
My ex’s father had multiple strokes and I don’t know if it was dementia or the strokes, but he was not aware of anything anymore. He would lay in bed and scream F YOU! at the top of his lungs all day long. He was never one to talk to that way, he was a very sweet man. He also started getting mean to my ex’s mother. He would pinch her, punch her, and throw things at her. He thought she was trying to poison him. She was covered with bruises. One day the nurse who came a few days a week saw what was going on and had him put in a nursing home. Told his mother that she had no choice, or at least that is what his mother told my ex and his sister. She had put him in a home before and my ex and his sister made her feel so guilty about it that she brought him back home.

I worked for a company where we got paid once a month, on the 25th. That was hard at first, but once I got used to it, it wasn’t so terrible.
It was a sucky job though.
The one that had ‘file clerks’ whose real job was to entertain the salesmen when they came into town.
If you know what I mean by ‘entertain’.

Lots of labor - they had to replace 2 sensors in wheel hubs and remove the fuel tank to replace a filter (I think) but it had to be done. This was truly a case of the online reviews being spot-on.FCD was very impressed with the business. And he said the car handles great now.

I’m trying to sleep but I feel too wound up. I know if I try to watch TV, I"ll drop off. Wonder if the set has a sleep timer? Time to check.

Howdy all. Tis been a dreary and cloudy day but not much rain so far. It’s all around us though.

FCM I feel so bad for the in-laws and FCD. It’s a bad situation but glad he seems to be getting settled back in at home. FCMIL should take help. He’ll hasten her demise trying to take care of him alone. Care giving is hard work and it’s a 24 hour job. She isn’t able to do that for long. You can lead a horse to water but you can’t make it drink.

TGIF and stay safe everyone.

Date Night was nice.

Thank you for that. I probably wouldn’t ever use it because I have my trusty cane, but I’ll probably drop it in a drug drop off bin very soon.

I was just reading a gardening book and learned that sprouted avocados should be planted with half the seed exposed. There was an explanation about proper drainage and fungus, so maybe scratch some dirt off Ava’s pit to give it some air?

Buddy is getting very assertive about the lap. When he’s not around, Allie is doing her own version of velcro kitty, but still isn’t into lap sitting.

You aren’t harping~we’re your friends, we care and we want to listen. Keep it up, it’ll help you get through it and listening is about all us distant friends can do.

And that all any of us need to do. We’ll hold you to that (I’m older, though, you’ll have to visit me in ‘the home’-bring chocolate and high octane coffee, maybe a couple of cats).

Made me smile, thanks! I just ordered myself some badly needed new ones on line. Sent for about 7 of them. If 3 fit and I keep them I’ll be doing good. Should ‘hold’ me for a couple of years.

His dad isn’t at a point yet where you could find two physicians that would impose the POA, as strange as that seems to say. MIL would provide cover and say it wasn’t needed, she can handle it. It’ll take a fall with serious injury that will lead to a care facility. Short of stealing his car keys and selling his car you can’t stop him driving either. Even if he was reported and they take his drivers license, he’ll just drive anyway without a license. It’s a mess-one I’ve been in the middle of as a home health nurse countless times. It breaks everyone’s heart and spirit.

So it hit a record 95 degrees yesterday, and I’ve had a couple of power flickers, including a few minutes ago. I was in Irregs yesterday, ao I was cooler, but I had a bit of a shock when I was taping a big box, and saw this:

For a second I thought somebody had order a RealDoll in a gimp suit. :open_mouth:

Feel free to vent, it’s horrible to deal with. {{{{FCM and FCD}}}}

The worst part is when you you have to wait extra time for your check after the first switch.

Looks intresting. My favorite one is Lucky B’s (although the one Spiderman took me to in Coshocken rocked.)
In any case, up, caffeinated, and sheveled. Off to heave.

Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffeinatin’. YAWN ‘Tis 73 Amurrkin (TWPTB say if feels like 72. BRRR!) with a predicted high of 92 with maybe rain later in the afternoon. We shall see. We shall be our usual slothful and useless selves. I foresee some quality cee-mint pond time along with the requisite day drinkin’. Any need to feed will be via forage as we have plenty of sammich makin’s and so forth.

Talky yay for Overlyboy and his first gig. Hope he enjoys what he’s doin’ at the rink.

MOOOOOOM vent at will. This is the place for that. This is such a tough situation especially since neither of you can do much about it until the in-laws realize help is needed. Glad FCD got his wheels fixed and will be on the way back today.

Now I need more caffeine and to feed rumbly tummy. Then, onward into the day! Rah.

Happy Sattidy!

FCD left Ocala at 0430. he texted that he had a good sleep, and I expect he’ll break a few speed limit laws enroute. Theoretically, he’ll be home in about 13 hours. We shall see.

You don’t have to tell me this. We’ve tried to tell her, but she insists she can take care of her husband herself, blind tho she be. For her, it’s as if asking for help is a sign of weakness. It’s a losing battle.

BTW, your gardening efforts look really nice!

We’re promised 94° but no rain, dammit. Before bed last night, I had to close the place up and turn on the air. It took something like 2 hours to bring the house from 83 to 77. I dread the next electric bill… sorta… we’re on a budget plan.

I do appreciate the kind words, even tho I’m sure you’re sick of hearing my whining. I’m sick of it myself. It’s hard to accept that one has no control, no power, no ability to help - OK, we have the ability, but it’s not wanted. Really, all we can do is wait for the final calls. Neither of them wants a funeral or memorial. Just a no-fuss, no-muss cremation. So shall it be.

As for the home front, I’ve started a load in the dishwasher. I’ve had a toasted English muffin and I’m caffeinating. After I don some non-sleeping clothing, I’ll spray some water on my garden and start some laundry - I figure 2 loads today, and they should dry fast in the sun and heat. I also need t push the vacuum around and make up the bed in the guest room with fresh sheets. Probably other stuff, too. I’ll figure it out as I go along. Eventually.

Happy Saturday! Stay warm, cool, dry, chill, whatever as applicable! :kissing_closed_eyes:

Morning, mumpers! It’s 15c/58f here today and mostly cloudy. Weather app says “Every cloud in the sky hates you”, which may or may not be true. Highs are predicted to be 17c/62f so a pleasant afternoon ahead. And no rain, which is a good thing as we’re out tonight and our gig venue is a half hour walk from home.

Mooooom you should carry on venting in here, it’s good for the soul. I’m sorry to hear that MIL doesn’t want to ask for help, and feels it’s a sign of weakness. I had such a hard time with my mum, trying to get her to have someone in to vacuum the floors for her because she really couldn’t cope with it. She saw it as a failing because she couldn’t look after her small flat, but she had a couple of falls previously, had broken both hips and one wrist, she used a cane or a walker to get around and it became obvious eventually (even to her) that she couldn’t do everything she wanted to.

flyboy I second/third/fourth? the idea of asking the loan companies to change their payment dates. They should be fairly willing to do it if you tell them that your employer has shifted pay dates for you, it’s not like you’re asking to skip payments, just to make a small change.

Talky yay for the boy’s first job! I hope he has fun doing whatever, especially as it’s a place he likes to be.

Doggio are you sure it’s not a doll in a gimp suit?

I have been to the gym this morning, done bootcamp and spin, which has apparently given me an extra 960 calories to play with today! So far I’ve had a banana (before the gym) and will be having half a can of soup and a turkey salad sandwich for lunch. My afternoon will be spent in a pet store doing some fundraising for a cat charity, and tonight we’re off to see a couple of bands.

Off to drink tea, put lunch together and go out to do something useful!

FCD is in Jawja. He’s so tired of driving, but at least he’s in his car with Sirius XM, so he can listen to whatever he wants. Near as I can tell, he’ll have decent weather all along I95. Theoretically, he’ll be here in roughly 10 hours. Of course, he’ll drive faster, so we shall see.

Meanwhile, dishes are washed, guest bed is re-sheeted and made up prettily, and there’s a load of towels in the washer that will be done any time now. I also swept the stairs to the basement, as the cats fling their litter thither and yon. I should scoop their box before heading back to the laundry room. After the next load goes in, the vacuum comes out.

Don’cha wish you could share in my fun???

Tis a lovely sunny day here, and as I was in the shower, the power went out. Huzzah. NYSEG claims 2240 customers are without power in my area. My intertubes are still working thanks to the battery back up I’ve got, but the damn thing is beeping every 15 seconds.

The lack of power has put a focus on a flaw in my housing condition. I can’t open the garage door with no power. Well I suppose if I could open the person door into the garage I could detach the garage door from the opener mechanism, but the person door is blocked by a whole bunch of stuff; shovels and rakes and implements of destruction. I should probably remedy that situation.

Morning all. In my soccer referee garb, leaving shortly to do 8:30am, 11:00am, and 1:30pm youth soccer games, left myself about an hour between games to recuperate, taking plenty of water with me, supposed to get to 87F this afternoon (already 76F at 7:30am). May give the kids water breaks during the game if they look like they need it.

FCM, as others have said, you are not whining; you are expressing legitimate concerns about loved ones to your friends. Nothing at all wrong with that,

OK, need to get a little breakfast and get ready to head out. Everybody have a good Sattiday.

sunny, different local temples do their new year festivals at different times according to the ethnic make up of the temple (the Thai temple in the county seat had theirs last weekend, different ones in Nashville have them for Chinese, Japanese, Nepalese, etc new year, all in the spring). I do enjoy going for the marketplace, good food, music and seeing coworkers outside of the workplace. As far as the international grocery tour, for a town of ~53K people at the buckle of the bible belt, we have a fairly diverse population that gives us good food (both grocery and restaurant) options.

Question for the Mumper bookworms (IOW, most of y’all): how far into the occasional book that you just aren’t feeling before you hang it up? I have done that with a few books on occasion, usually giving it around 6-7 chapters before determining that it is stupid or giving me absolutely no pleasure (this is pleasure reading that I’m getting at, not required). Right now, I’m 5 chapters into a book that sounded funny on the Amazon preview, but is just stupid AF. I’m fixing to hang it up and move on to something that I will enjoy, but I always feel a sense of guilt for not finishing something that I’ve started.

The big plans for the day are to run to Staples for a CO2 cartridge exchange and to Lowe’s for a few plants and spend the afternoon with patio / gardening cleanup. It’s supposed to rain this evening, so the plants will be watered in their pots.

Stay safe and healthy y’all!

Good morning everyone.

FCM, keep venting away. We’re here for you. I’m glad FCD is on his way home.

Well, we never made it to the Nisqually Wildlife Refuge yesterday. The weather wasn’t particularly nice until late afternoon, and even then, it wasn’t the greatest. I would have gone in the cooler, cloudy weather, but the husband wasn’t keen on it. I was a little disappointed, but we’ll do it another day. Here’s a link to the place: Nisqually Wildlife Refuge. The salt marsh was farmland a long time ago, I remember driving through the valley and looking at the old broken-down farm and all the dikes that were set up. The land was bought up and they let it go back to it’s natural state which is a good thing. I’ve never been to this refuge, so I was interested in going, mainly to see the birds and hopefully get some good pictures. I drive past the exit for it every time I drive to and from Olympia and points further south.

Today we’re going to see the kids. We’ll probably head up there around noon. I know the grandkids are going to be thrilled to see “silly Grandpa”.

I should finish my coffee. I want to clean up the kitchen and plant some posies.

I’ve had a few that I couldn’t get thru the first chapter. Granted, they were probably self-published oeuvres that I downloaded for free, which explains why they stunk so mightily. There have been others that were highly recommended so I forced my way thru them, tho I was inclined to toss them after a couple of chapters. And recently there was one that I set aside, then started again a few weeks later, and I wound up enjoying it, so I must have been in a mood the first time.

OK, last load is on the lines. Vacuuming is done. FCD got into SC about half an hour ago - his GPS says he’ll be home a bit after 5. We shall see. It’s not even 10AM and I’m starving - my English muffin didn’t sate me for long. So, do I have a second breakfast or try to hang in there till lunch time? decisions, decisions…

Re books. I give a book at most 50 pages. If I’m not into it by 50 pages, I fling it across the room with wild abandon hoping not to break the cat. Not really, I just put it aside and get another. Life is too short to read uninteresting books.
