Well, they rule out folks who don’t know how many days in a month and how many days in a year, but I don’t see how to account for leap years and “30 days hath September”, etc.
Shame, FairyChat, you are a fellow engineer! Convert every thing to hours, work the equation, and convert the years, months, weeks and days?
So I was driving in to work at 10 this morning when the phone rang and it was the desk asking me to switch to nightside to cover an illness. I agreed and turned around and went back home.
As I was getting out of my car at the house there was a loud BANG! not unlike a gunshot. I thought the battery exploded in my truck.
Turns out it was the breaker for the transformer on the pole - I got to spend all my time before late shift sweltering in the dark. Twenty minutes before it was time to head back to work the power crew showed up , knocked the fried startling off the transformer and reset the fuse.
We apparently got a good rainin’ overnight. As I was falling asleep, I heard the pitter-patter of raindrops, but judging by how soaked the porch furniture cushions are, it got much heavier.
I was going to get back to mulching this morning, but not in the wet. So now I need to come up with a new plan. It could involve snoozing - we shall see.
Meanwhile, leftover pizza for breakfast - yum! Higgs has been fed and the kittehs got some treats. Ziva has forgiven me for allowing invaders into her house, but her new hiding place is atop the hutch. I’ll need to get the vacuum up there to de-hair it… eventually.
Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffeinatin’. YAWN 'Tis 75 Amurrkin out with a predicted high of ONLY 85 for the day. BRRRRRR! Looks like there shall also be late afternoon rain/tstorms/apocalypse.
Today is the first day of the two day daid pig and chikin smokeathon. I shall shortly get ribs and chikin thighs on the smoker. Need a little bit more daylight before I get started. I’m considerin’ mowage just to make the yahd look all purty and nice for tomorrow and Sattidy. I also need to clean two big coolers so’s I can load up on ice over to the church house tomorrow mornin’.
Ok, that’s all I got for now. I need more caffeine and rumbly tummy says its hongry. Then, onward into the day!
Morning, mumpers! It was proper scorchio yesterday so we went to a little country pub and spent the evening sitting outside drinking beer until it was time to go home. Of course, our driver was not drinking beer, that would have been very naughty and no doubt the local constabulary would have had something to say about that.
Last night it was too hot to sleep so I put the fan on in the bedroom and shoved some earplugs in to stop the noise keeping me awake. That helped, but then Ophie decided she wanted to be on the bed and the last thing I needed was a feline hot water bottle round my feet. Eventually I think I dozed off about 2am and was awake again by 6am. Thus I is tired and ready for a nice little snooze.
Fortunately today is cooler and cloudy with the threat of rain, frog-stranglers and thunderboomers, depending on which part of the country you’re in. Since I am in the middle, I expect a convergance of all of it at some point during the day. Most probably when I am either going out to get some lunch or going home. Should be better for sleeping tonight though, which will be a blessing.
Looking forward to this weekends music festival, should be fun, and of course there will be decent beer. I don’t think any of our friends are interested in going, probably because there aren’t any “recognised” bands playing but we don’t care, we’ll just go and see the band we know we want to see and then cruise around to listen to whatever else is playing.
so, Smokey woke me early, per usual, and I sent her away, per usual (repeat several times) until I felt like waking up, thinking it was after 8. It was only 6:20! Damned cat.
Blurf
Ribs and chikin are in the smoker. I have decided against mowage because it does not look that bad and I don’t want to mow. Instead I have N.O.T. on to boil for N.OT. sallit. That should be enough activity for someone who is on vacation.
Rosie Smokey does not wish her servant to be a slugabed.
N.O.T. are boiled and coolin’ down as I post. Coleslaw (I made some more) has been made. The <snerk> butt! <snerk> has been chopped. I shall also go ahead and mix up the beans whilst I am makin’ a mess in the kitchen. I feel so efficient. Go Me!
