Myndy - thanks for the podage info. I shall have to go shopping this weekend
**FCM ** - I like the face jar. Reminds me of the wife.
I also like your IRS checks. I got one a year after welbywife and I got married for 14 cents. We thought it was funny, so kept the check and put it on the Shelf o Weird stuff. A year later, I got another letter and check. We thought that was even funnier. After the fifth check the IRS stopped sending them. I figure they spent 20 bucks or so trying to give me the 14 cents. . .
VBob, sorry about the kitties.
Mooooom, I LOVE all of your clay creations!! They are beautiful. The monsters are my favorites.
Appropriate reactions all around.
I’m tired today. And have a headache. But on the plus side it’s Friday and it’s cooling down.
Best get to work. Although it’s hard to work when the systems you spend the majority of your day is still isn’t working. It’s been a week here.
I got a check for forty-three cents once. That was before they started taking my money, the bastards.
I like all the pottery, expecially the green star kitty, FCM. Very cute.
Time to snarf some breakfast and dash out to the laundromat.
Off to do stuff and then work. Rainy here today, but much cooler-this is a good thing.
Must stop playing that jelly cube game–very bad influence on me. And I can’t get past level 35, dammit!
The husband is gone for the weekend–a conference. [sub]yay[/sub]
Sorry, but have been feeling the need to breathe lately–we need some space.
VWife’s head nearly imploded last night. Her 2 favorite football teams, The Indianapolis Colts and the New Orleans Saints, went head to head in the season opener. She could not figure out who to root for to save her life.
The Colts won easily, so I hear. I was asleep.
How you doin’?

Well, I’m awake, but not yet caffeinated. I meant to be up by 9, but I forgot to set my alarm, and was up late converting a rather horsey training VHS to a DVD for a friend. (I just did the recording to MPEG2, which I had to babysit because there were no obvious means of setting a record interval on my USB PVR. I had to I still have to break it down into chapter stops, make a brief menu and convert to DVD format yet.)
'Welcome.
Note that everything but the Touch have already been shipped to stores and should be available by this weekend. The Touch won’t be available for a couple of weeks yet, but will be out this month nonetheless.
Swampy - Am I to understand that you were attacked by beer? And you lost? To Pabst? sigh Swampy, swampy, swampy. See, you need to keep a bottle of Corona with you at all times to beat those trailer trash beers into submission. If they start to get unruly, whip out that golden bad boy and suddenly it’s all ¡Hola, pendejos! ¡Vuelta al trabajo antes de que pusiera mi pie en su asno! Just watch those cans jump!
Morning, all. I finally got in synch last night to get some work done, and am finishing it up this morning. Then it’s off to get my teeth cleaned, and then after Papa Tigs gets home, head down to Moooom’s place. I have to wait for him to get home because I’m taking his car and leaving him the Dogmobile.
The Idiots’ bowls look great, FCM – I suspect something like a quick filling of superglue in the crack will make sure it’s watertight, and that’s really all we need. I can’t wait to see them in person!
I’m sorry about the kitties, Bobbio.
Have fun at your Chi-town get-together, everybody!
I got a bill for one cent once from my doctor’s office. So I taped a penny to the bill and sent it in. They were so embarrassed, they mailed me back my penny with a letter of apology; it ended up costing them two sets of postage over one silly penny. That was fun.
Back to work so I can go goof off later!
BBBobbio, sorry about the kitties. It’s tough to lose a whole litter. Feline Distempter is a bitch.
Swampy got beat up by a beer. snicker
FCM, I liked all the pottery - you do good work. You did a fabulous job on the glaze on those medallions! And I am in love with blue mouse and star kitty.
Went over to Librarian Friend’s house last night to help her disassemble her stereo components and put them in the trunk to take them in for donation. She got a Bose “Wave” radio/cd player and that thing sounds incredible! I was very impressed.
I have cramps, damnit. That is all.
{{{{VBob & foster kitties}}}} Will you got more foster “children” to care for? How could your heart stand it if they don’t make it?
eta
meh. I think a “classic” is good enough for me. Then again, maybe I’ll wait a few months and watch the Touch’s price drop… (my little 2nd genner is really starting to show signs of aging)
I know what you mean… {{{Rigs}}}
I’m here!!! Arrived in the middle of a rainstorm - lots of wet luggage at baggage claim, but mine was quite OK. Took a shuttle to the hostel and now I’m sitting here relaxing before venturing out to a museum or something. Still deciding.
Hi everyone!
GT
In all honesty, I have nothing to do with them, so I don’t get attached. No more kitties for the forseeable future, because VWife gets her first knee 2 weeks from Monday.
As detached as I am, it’s still sad to have to bury one. There’s an area behind one of the sheds we refer to as ‘the cat garden’.
Purdue? They still have a football team?
I had a Laundry Crisis this morning.
One of my drying racks had previously broken in one place, but KeithT duct taped it back together. So I loaded it up with wet clothes… and the tape didn’t hold and the whole thing crashed (scaring the cat of course) and broke most of the other rungs as it fell. The problem was that I already had clothes on the other 2 racks so I had to duct tape all of the rungs back on and put the clothes back and hope it holds.
And I got to work 1/2 an hour late because of that. Bleh.
I just made Nigella Lawson’s ten minute chocolate pudding. Someone keep me from eating the whole thing.
Recipe:
150 g butter (I used about a third of a cup)
250g dark chocolate chips (about 3/4 cup)
100g brown sugar (half a cup? or so?)
1 tsp vanilla
125 ml heavy cream
40g flour (a little less than half a cup?)
1/2 tsp baking powder
3 eggs
Blitz the chocolate to rubble in the food processor. Add the soft butter (cut into small pieces) and the sugar. Blitz again until everything’s smooth. Add all other ingredients. Blitz again. Scrape into a medium size buttered mixing bowl that’s microwave safe. Cover with plastic wrap, and cook on high for five minutes.
Take it out, stick a knife through the plastic wrap, and then put a heavy plate on it. Let sit for ten minutes.
My timer just rang. It’s done.
Ogghmgflgwk. It’s a very moist steamed chocolate pudding with chocolate goop on the bottom. :Sticks head back in bowl:
Ooh. That sounds awesome. But … I hate dark chocolate. Would milk chocolate work?
Or, or … ooh … white chocolate … mmmmmm.
Milk would work.
For anyone who hasn’t caught it yet, there’s a thread in Cafe Society announcing the death of Madeleine L’Engle. I don’t know if there are any other MMPer fans. She was one of my favourite wirters, and her death saddens me. I hope she died at home with her daughters and grandchildren near.
Loved Madeleine L’Engle and am saddened, but had to add:
Blitz.
It’s my new cooking term.
Thanks, Li-Li.
