A Listful MMP

  1. Good morning!
  2. Caffeine.
  3. Busy morning.
  4. Chilly outside. I want my spring back!
  5. Roo - See, now it’s too cold for humping. That’s what happens when you wait too long.
  6. Ellen - Did you apply the DST 2007 update for PalmOS? Have you tried both a soft- or hard-reset or removing the battery for a few minutes?

The only time I want to get married is when I see pretty bridal dresses. I wish I had an excuse to wear a wedding dress without getting married.

Progression of Events Last Night:

  1. Scottish Darling and I baked brownies and watched Jane Eyre
  2. Got a text from Captain Cheekbones (our nickname for our resident English lad, who happens to have lovely cheekbones :p)
  3. Took brownies over to Captain Cheekbones’ place.
  4. Ate brownies, drank some gin and tonics, talked about stuff
  5. Started playing Presidents and Assholes
  6. Got drunk at an alarming pace
  7. Somehow stumbled home and poured self into bed.

You know when you can feel that one more swallow of alcohol will make you seriously ill? Yeah, that was me last night. I was too drunk to even post my obligatory drunken post confessing my love for you all.

Have a lovely day everyone!

  1. Pugs, escotes barco (those without straps) look very pwetty but you can’t move in them. I wonder if there’s youtube videos of the Gigantes de Pamplona, every bride I’ve ever seen in a strapless was about as stiff as those balsa-and-papier-maché dancing sculptures (there’s a trick, they’re guy-inside-powered).

  2. SCL, I can’t remember names even of people with whom I’ve been working for months, but I can remember faces of people I’ve seen once.

  3. I mentioned BioTigs new knee to Mom and she sends best wishes. She’s been told she may be listed for one in about ten years. I would have loved to be there, she claims to have stared at the doc until the doc hemmed and hawed and broke the silence herself. Mom reckons that given her general health (which is bad but would be better if she ate well), if they decide she needs a new knee whereabouts of being 75 they’ll decide she’s too sick to be an adequate candidate. Always the optimist, my mother. But she does send best wishes.

  4. My bosses don’t know what to give me to work with but apparently I’m now being given the duty to chase “people who aren’t doing their jobs.” Is there such a job title as “Junior Boss”?

Did you miss the entire story, or just the shot I fired over the rescue org’s bow?

Howdy y’all! Sorry about not reportin’ in yesterday but I was tahred and remember I’m usin’ mom’s dialup. It’s sooooooo slllllooooooooowwwwwww!!!

Anyways, I did make some headway yesterday. I now know he has enough life insurance to take care of final expense stuff. Or at least buryin’ him. I know, morbid, but that’s stuff I needed to know. Looks like he’s gettin’ around eight hundred from social security each month and about two twenty three from retirement at Chrysler. Ok, not a lot, but takes care of basic expenses. An appointment has been made for mom and him to go see a lawyer next week about power of attorney. Sis will make the trip with ‘em to see what goes on, since I’ll be back home. I’m goin’ home tomorrow. I need to go home. I miss home. Besides I gotta go cook stuff Saturday so I gotta rest. Today we’re goin’ to check out the safe deposit box, just to see what’s in there. Mom will also have a key to the box just in case. All his money goes directly to the bank and he says that today he’d like it if mom’s and my name were added to the account. Pretty good huh? Well, yesterday, like I said, was throw down day. I kept sayin’ cut the bs and tell the truth. I also said I’m not leavin’ til I get the truth if it takes stayin’ here all night. Kinda got me a strange look from mom, who was with me… like, stay here, all night!!! I was damned determined though. So, I feel better about stuff. I’ll feel especially better when I know the P.O.A. is done and names are put on his bank stuff. I know I’ll need to make a few more trips up to do other stuff, but this is a huge start. We’ve got some ideas on places to look for him to live. I know I’ll have to keep up with that to make it happen. Make it happen, I will, though. Oh, and yeah, the threat of competency hearing was raised yesterday if he was not forthcoming. Apparently that was enough to scare him into comin’ forth with info. I still hate that I had to do it, but for his sake and mom’s I’m glad it seems to have worked.

That’s how 00Bear’s day was. Hee! I like that!

All you sick folks feel better. I prescribe ice cream, chocolate, beerverages, or whatever works for ya.

Gotti it ain’t nice to set DH on fire. :stuck_out_tongue: At least not with the grill.

Mom’s puter is in good shape. She does not do much beyond check her email and does not open up anything she does not recognize as bein’ from anybody who has her email addy. Yay mom! She’s taken some courses at the senior center and apparantly that got drilled into her brain. The BIL has been glad I’m around cause I’ve been doin’ stuff he knew needed to be done but hasn’t had time. Remember, dialup… takes for freakin’ ever! So, all the little stuff that needed doin’ is now done. YAY!

Ok, off to prowl around town. Later y’all!

swampy, I’m glad to hear things are going as well as can be expected.

Gaaaaah, why do I feel MORE hungover as the day wears on? Excuse me while I crawl over to the library.

DH calls that cheater golbaki and makes it now and then. His mother makes it the proper way, though.

Part of me envies all of you people who caffinate in the mornings. As I think I mentioned here about a month and a half ago I started to slowly cut down on my caffine intake and am to the point of having almost none at all now. I make an occational trip to a coffee house every other week or so and drink an occational can of something or other at work, but other than that I caffine free. I drink water at resturants and either flavored water or milk at home.

This previous weekend Meli and I finished watching the A&E Pride and Prejudice with Colin Firth… mmmm, Colin Firth… sorry, what was I saying? Right, after finishing it I noticed that every single home mentioned in the movie had a name of some kind, it was never ‘so-and-so’s house’ but ‘Netherfield’, or ‘Pembry’ instead. I decided that I need some kind of regal sounding name for my apartment so that I can refer to it as thought I have some sort of estate.

I finally caught up on the whole MMP, but now, just as I am about to start commenting, I get a call from my boss and he needs me to run some tests for him ASAP. So I guess I will have to finish catching up later.

Mindfield, yep, did it. It was the desktop calendar that went blank, though–not the handheld. Husband is looking into it for me.

Who got their free cup o’ joe at Starbucks this morning? I did, that’s who! Free stuff–yay!

Mmm… Colin Firth.

What? Oh, right. I’ve always loved the idea of having houses with names. Pemberly just sounds so posh. I remember when reading the Anne of Green Gables series that their houses always had titles as well, like “Ingleside.” Once I get my own house I will christen it something… I haven’t quite decided what. I figure I have quite some time before that happens, though.

I’m going to hang a sign at the end of my driveway that says “Welcome to Belle Lea Acres”… :stuck_out_tongue:

When you say “went blank,” do you mean your calendar in Palm Desktop lost all of its scheduled events, or that it doesn’t come up at all? And are you completely unable to sync, or is it that either your Palm or your Palm Desktop isn’t being updated with new information when it does sync?

Well, the day will soon be over here, thank Og. Been a bit of a long day and I’m already beat. It’s a good thing I’ve got next week off. I’ma gonna do some serious catching up on my sleep, which I never get enough of these days.

I’ve also gotta go get a new health card next week. I’ve been putting it off for way too long. They’re just never open outside of the business hours that I work, and going and getting a new health card generally requires the entire morning before your number is called. They used to have a kiosk at my mall where you could pay parking tickets, put in changes of address, and update your health card. Just a little ATM-like machine where you could stick in your old, expired health card, follow a few on-screen prompts and they’d send you a new one in the mail. The kiosk is still there, but it no longer does health card renewals. Bastards.

If my house had a name, it would be Hacienda del Houndo.

bobbio, wow! That would make me very PO’d, too. Present company excepted, some rescue peeps haven’t got any more sense than LGAs.

Good on you, 00Bear! If your name is on the account, you might be able to set it up to view the account online. I did that for my mother.

Haze, you are dehydrated. That’s why you feel worse. Drink some water.

The NerdMobile IS done, but I have no clue about the final tab. I’ll find out soon enough…

I’ve been drinking water and orange juice after reading your advice. I do feel a bit better.

I turned my last final paper in a few minutes ago. YAY!!!

Things to do today:

  1. Write 4 pages of thesis crap
  2. Have a meal full of meat and lard to soak up the remaining alcohol in my system
  3. Meet up with friends to celebrate pwning our final papers
  4. Get laid

(#4 is wishful thinking, unfortunately, but a girl can dream. Heh.)

Halloween?? You’re welcome.

I’ll make it the proper way when I have the time, but I thought I’d give it a shot the other way, just for the heck of it. It didn’t taste too bad, but I wish I’d made little meatballs rather than just glopping all the meat on a layer.

Tho I really need to take the time and do it right…

Sketties tonight, and class afterwards. Tonight I’m making glaze and learning how to load the kiln  - whatever - it’s part of the class.

When I took the doggies out a little bit ago, it was over 80 degrees (normal this time of year is mid-50s) but overnight, it’s plummeting into the 40s and tomorrow night, we might get sleet or a wintry mix and temps in the 20s, and it’ll stay cold all weekend.

I’m displeased - I have a meeting at 2 tomorrow afternoon. My usual quitting time is 2. I’ll end up staying at least an hour over, hence the displeasure. I’m also displeased at Miss Brandy - she puked on the carpet twice today. I think I’m going to change her food to one that doesn’t have the nasty red dye in it - that really does a job on my carpet. No more Little Friskies.

I’m further displeased at the moron who I got stuck behind 2 days in a row. At least this morning I was able to pass him about 3 miles down the road, but doggone, if you’re afraid to drive in the dark, if you have to hit the brakes every time there’s an oncoming vehicle, maybe it’s time to restrict yourself to daytime driving. Better yet, give the keys to someone competent. Idiot!

And that’s all I’ve got for today. So far.

Hello! Todays list
1.[del]coffee[/del]
2. [del]work[/del]
3. Frozen pizza
4.Hockey Night In Carolina

If the apartment had a name, it would be “The Raleigh Veterinary Institute for the Criminally Insane”

Haze, you can wear a wedding dress anytime you like, people will just think you’re weird.

swampy, glad things are going OK with Uncle Marty. Did you get the sign? Do you need to plead the fifth? Or the whole half gallon?

Here’s what I sucked out of my bedroom carpet with the new vac. I think I have an extra pet, judging by the hair.

I finally picked up fabric for my two purses. I’ve decided that the first one isn’t as ugly as I thought, so I’m going to line it and see if I like it “finished”. Shoot. I should have picked up some interfacing while I was at it, since it’s pretty floppy. Back to the fabric store! Shucks.

I’m still debating whether or not I should get an inexpensive sewing machine. Would it be worth it? On the other hand, I could do minor repairs myself (ha!) instead of sending them out, and I could make curtains, since my decrepit house has non-standard windows (one of the reasons that the landlord hasn’t replaced the highly inefficient single pane sash windows.) On the other hand, my hand sewing is reasonably neat (home ec was good for something after all!) and I’m not at all tempted to take up quilting by hand. But if I had a sewing machine, all bets are off.

Oh, and here’s Skunk, pretending to knit.

Swampy, you are a good nephew. Sounds like you’re able to out-stubborn Uncle Marty, too, which is a very good thing. Out-stubborning older relatives can be a real challenge, can’t it? I once had to threaten to pick my 99-year-old grandmother up and throw her over my shoulder and haul her to the car to make her go to the emergency room. It was the only time I ever out-stubborned her, but I still get enormous satisfaction from it.

Doggio, ewwww! Although that’s easily what you could get from my carpets, too, any day of the week. Even if I vacuumed three times a day, the dogs would manage to stay ahead of it in the hair dispersal, I do believe.

I ended up taking a three-hour nap. It was loverly! The temp was warm but there was a nice cool breeze blowing, so I opened the windows and then snuggled up all nice and warm in my cozy bed and turned into a snoring, drooling, inert lump for as long as I could manage it. Apparently my body still thinks I require extra rest to do this “healing” business. Silly body, doesn’t it know I have many things I need to start doing again, like working, cleaning the house, etc.? Apparently it hasn’t quite grasped the concept. Not that I was objecting, mind you, while I was in my cozy bed!

Papa Tigs claimed he was actually going to get off work at his regularly scheduled time today. For the first time in, what, three weeks? And, to my amazement, he just pulled in the driveway, so it looks like he managed it. We shall have to find out what miracle occurred to get him away from work at a reasonable hour – although he’s apparently got several senior nurses (colonel types) concerned that they’re working him half to death. I’m glad someone besides me and him finally noticed!

Looks like everyone here has everything reasonably under control. Yay!

Jahdra, love the colors in that purse. The yarn looks kinda fuzzy - is it itchy? My local JoAnn Fabrics is closing, so they’re selling all their home decorator fabric samples really cheap. I bought lots, they’re about 14x18 inches - could you use something like that to line the bag? I can dig through the pile tonight and see if I have anything that might coordinate.

My washtub in the laundry room overflowed. Again. We got us one o’ them there “canyon capacity” washers, but we have a smallish sink, and if the load in the washer isn’t full-full-full, it gets too much water in it and over it goes. grumble So I had to mop. I hate mopping.

On the positive side, I cleaned out MY purse today, which was full of receipts and doggie’s heartworm pills and other stuff that doesn’t need to be in a purse. And I took said doggie to her vet for a follow-up on her nose owie (the dog’s nose, not the vet’s) and it’s getting much better (she was spider-bit and got all “swole up.”)

I made a gigantimous tortellini salad for dinner tonight, then ate a bunch of it cuz I have to leave for class before everyone else gets home for dinner. And now I’m off.
