A Melancholy MMP

I just got off the phone with my sister. She and my BIL are comin’ down for the weekend.

YAAAAAAY!!!

I know I don’t talk a lot about her but I lurves my sissy and I get to see her this weekend!

YAAAAAAY!!!

Nice to see you again, Mika - wish you didn’t have to leave us so soon, though! Hugs and good thoughts for you and your family.

Prayers for Swampy’s friend’s family–how sad. :frowning:

Good news, though, from SpecialOne re TerryThePup, woo hoo!

At least tomorrow is hump day - half way through the week.

swampy, unsweet tea? And you call yourself a Southerner? (I can’t drink sweet tea, but still!)

'Tis official. For the first time, I have a full-time job with benefits and all. Eeek!

{{{{{Everybody}}}}}

Ok, so I guess my dad is getting other estimates on the a/c so that my landlord can choose who does the work and hopefully, I will only have to pay the first $200. I 'm only going to believe it when I write the check. Unfortunately the weakest of my freezers has given out so the stronger one is now packed full, but at least it’s still going strong. Tomorrow I hope to have massive frozen food giveaways and make lots of croutons from the bread that’s stored in there.

Just got back from TVLand. We went out to dinner and shopping for a birthday party on Sunday.

And the crappiest news of the evening: My parents have signed their separation agreement today. My father is no longer allowed to live here until the divorce is final. I miss him, my mom misses him, and his dog misses him too. :frowning:

I’m sorry about your parents, Pie. And hope the A/C can be fixed soon, too.

Sorry about your mom, taxi. Hope it’s just an anomaly.

Yay for Terry being found! Also, it’s neat to know that the vet has really humanized the place.

That job sounds like something you would be good at, rigs.

I’m tired and it’s past my bedtime, so I think I’ll try falling asleep…

Hugs to all I missed…

GT

snowbunny congrats on the full-time with benefits. Yep, unsweet tea. Wanna know my most shameful, dirty secret?

I actually prefer unsweetened ice tea.

Ok, now that I’ve revealed my most shameful secret Ima go beddy bye.

Nitey Nite Y’all!

Sorry, too much blood in my alcohol.

Unsweet tea?!?  swampy, that ain’t right.

{{{{Pie}}}}

Congrats, snowbunny!

OMG–I just got a call from a coworker. She’s really nice and all, but she talked to me for over an hour. She’s had a lot of shit in her life right now, so I was happy to listen etc, but my ear hurts! But she also gave me lots of dirt that happened at work this past week. Some of it is shake your head at silly. Our one tech hoards our juice and cookies and pitches a fit if anyone actually uses them. Apparently, someone higher up got wind of this and came down to put things Right. Can’t wait to see the fallout tomorrow. (aren’t people interesting? Who cares about how much juice is used? The people are thirsty, having just had surgery. Also, this tech never ordered ginger ale, believing it to be too “expensive”. I’m amazed she got away with it as long as she did!)
I just had to share. Nice coworker is doing better, btw.

Hi, tarragon.

Still up, but heading off to bed.

Funny, that - I like sweetened ice tea and I’m about as much of a Yank as you can get without actually being a New Englander.

Night all!

Ooh, swampy…bless your 'lil heart.

Ooh, swampy…bless your 'lil heart.

Anaamika, it’s not just sweetened tea. It’s like sugar with a bit of tea color added. Perhaps it could work for me as a dessert, by itself, but it’s way too sweet otherwise.

Whoops…

No kiddin’ there, snowbunny, you done blessed swampy’s heart TWICET! I’m not sure you have enough of a head start on him, better start running now while he’s still hibernating! Seriously, though, congrats on the FT jobness, good stuff!

I like my tea sweet, but my dirty l’il secret is that I can’t stand sugar in anything I drink except my cawfee. Right now I’m all addicted to Crystal Light Peach Tea, mmmm… Peach anything blows my skirt up, really–on that note, I must highly recommend the Bacardi Silver Peach flavor, 'cuz for a bitch beer that shit be niiiiice!

Hmmm, update from Sis on the Teeny Toes Twins, apparently Miss Brooklyn started the party by breaking her amniotic sac, they think it was due to a bacterial infection but aren’t totally sure. Sis and the rest of her family were vacationing in Mexico when they got the call that the water had broken and they had to move heaven and earth just to get there three hours too late for the birth. Suffice to say that with one thing and another they’ve all had a REALLY eventful week!

My partner was just a total joy to be around today, stress makes him depressed and he was consequently cross as two sticks and grumpy as a N.O.B(ear[s]) today. I finally got tired of his rampagin’ around, kicked him outta the shop and told him to go sit by a river and go swimming until he felt better, even if it takes a week. Sure hope it worked–it’s nice that we’ve known each other so long because when Dr Aleq lays down the law he tends to listen–he knows I can kick MUCH ASS when provoked.

Himself is off having his annual LAN party with a good friend of ours whose wife and kids take off for a month in the summer to visit her folks every year. He has the house to himself and the boys like to get a few computers together, stay up all night and play video games while drinking beer until they’re fairly shitfaced and cussing at each other at high volume. I find the prospect of being in the house with such activities about as fun as a live organ transplant so I encourage them to go have fun SOMEWHERE ELSE! It’s nice to have the house to myself and the animals–I downloaded part one of “Dr Horrible’s Sing Along Blog” which is Joss Whedon’s new enterprise, starring Neil Patrick Harris and Nathan Fillion (swoon!) singing! It’s funny, I like–part 2 is up tomorrow I believe. The server is totally crashed from traffic since this morning but I found a torrent for it…

“Riff raff,” hmmmm? deletes interesting picture that might have been shared but now will never see the light of day Nice to know where we all stand!

If you think it might help, Pie, I could give your freezers the cold shoulder… How come your dad can’t live there? If everybody misses him why is there a divorce anyway? Color me confused…

Hi, Mika, haven’t seen much of you lately 'round these yere parts!

Your tech sounds a tad tetched there **Rigs–**does he/she think those supplies come out of his/her paycheck? And why would anyone think ginger ale is more spendy than any other pop? Just weird. Hmmm, risotto, huh? Did it smell like va–nope, not gonna go there, just not!

Hope your head gets better, Taters, if I were there I’d give it my patented squash, guaranteed to chase away even the most persistent of headaches.

Don’t hold back there, swampy, you’re kinda happy about your sis visiting, aren’t you? I’m almost psychic the way I can figure these things out from the tiniest of clues…

Argh, stoopid Comcast and their scheisty network, we hates 'em precious! They’ve been randomly kicking me offline for a week now but swear there’s nothing wrong. I want to BURNING THEIR DOGS!

Right… :stuck_out_tongue:

Ahhh… Somebody got the reference!

You people have been pretty quiet all evening… Yay **SnowBunny **on going full time with benefits, Yay **Swampy **on getting to see your sis. Hi Meeks, just because you’re around only for a short time… Oh and “hi, riffraff :D,” too. Y’all know who you are!

Yesterday, I had a real white-knuckle moment driving… I was in the right-hand lane (buses, carpools, right-turns) barreling along at 45 or so in a ~45 zone, passing the poor schmucks who needed to continue straight at the light… when suddenly some idiot decides he’ll do better in the right lane. So he cuts over, unannounced, and I practically run right into him… slam on brakes, thank Og for ABS in the process, see that won’t do it, aim car at angle to curb (not a pedestrian area), find myself alongside his car as one wheel goes up on the curb, as he speeds up and continues, I get back down off the curb… all in split seconds.
And of course he (illegally) went straight ahead at the lights…

No harm no foul, I guess. But… yeesh.

Some people should not be allowed behind a steering wheel. Eek.

Mika, hey! We missed you! We’ll miss you! (When IS the board supposed to go back to free posting anyway? I feel like we haven’t heard anything about it for a while now.)

Another boring day teaching the young unwashed masses.

Morning all. YAAAWWWWNNNNN! I am one of those people who SHOULD have gone to bed at 9pm last night. Instead, I sat in front of the idiot box and watched back-to-back episodes of Grey’s Anatomy, Ugly Betty and Desperate Housewives. Good, brain-numbing television!!!

Last night’s bedtime routine for HRH only took 30 minutes of me sitting on the floor next to the cot holding her hand, then gradually skootching backwards (but remaining within her line of sight) until her little eyes finally closed and her breathing slowed to that regular, sweet sleepy-baby rhythm. At least there was no vomiting and changing of bed linens involved last night! Whew.

Hugs, yays, boos, gropes and noogies all 'round. My favourite [del]shithead[/del]boss is trying to squeeze some more work out of my lazy butt before tomorrow, so I have to go read some documents and pretend to care! Later 'gators!

What’s with all these folks coming in just to say goodbye? Hi, Mika!

Back to meeting land.

Glfglpgfm.
Morning.

Morning all, up and caffeinating here - but ready to leave for work shortly. Got a story to tell, but will have to tell it later!

Congrats Snowbunny on being full time with benefits now, woo hoo!

Well, since I was skimming with reckless abandon yesterday, let me try to catch up some…

Hi Mika! I don’t believe we’ve met, but it’s so nice to meet you… Sorry to see you go. :stuck_out_tongue:

{{{rosie}}} Sorry to hear that the knee monkey (and hamstring monkey) has gotten to you again. According to my mother’s workplace, working with a crutch or a cane is a liability because someone might trip over it. So I suggest that you use your crutch to its full detriment.

swampy, glad to hear that your sister is coming to visit! Sorry about your friends’ son.

Noonie, glad you found your dog. Don’t know what we’d do if something happened to any of our pups. And… The riff raff comment? I’ll just pretend like I never heard a word.

snowbunny, Congratulations!!!

Smarty, hope your partners’ attitude adjustment worked.

Hi rigs!

Hi** GT**!

Hi doggio, glad you’re enjoying vacation!

Hi Haze!

Good thoughts sent your way,** taxi**, for your mom.

Hi everyone else that I’ve missed and forgotten to mention!!!

As to your question, Smarty, it’s a long story, but after having gastric bypass and a 2nd heart attack my dad decided that he wasn’t happy with his life and wanted to strike out on his own. It’s been very hard on all of us, because we’ve always been so close. I don’t know what’s going to happen, but we’ve been living together (with my grandparents too) for almost the last 30 years. It’s hard to imagine that we won’t be together anymore.

Ok, I should really run. GilaMonster will be here in about 10 minutes.
