A Monday without an MMP is like . . . (a substitute MMP)

That sounds nasty, Tarra, but it’s not what I’ve got. I have a marginal corneal ulcer and my bit of paper from the horsepistol says this: “A corneal ulcer is an area of tissue loss from the surface of the cornea. Corneal ulcers may result from bacterial, fungal, or viral infection of the corneal tissue or loss of innervation of the pain nerves to the cornea. All corneal ulcers are serious, sight-threatening lesions that require immediate, aggressive treatment and management. Eye pain, light sensitivity, decreased vision and tearing are common symptoms of these lesions. Treatment is dependent on the cause of inflammation. Frequent examination will be necessary until the ulcer has completely resolved.”

It’s a bit less painful today and there’s less watering, but it’s still very red (and yellow from the ointment). This morning I had to wash my eye in warm water before I could even get it open. Yuk!

Doggio - wandering around with a clipboard looking clueless reminds me very much of my time working for the Ministry of Defence. All you needed was an Item Pad then you could wander round the Provision Building chatting to all your friends and it still looked like you were doing proper work.

Dotty - Has HRH recovered from her recent bout of illness now? And have you found a good reason for the ritual slaughter of the MiL?

So, me with my manky eye, I’m the only team member in the office today. One’s off sick with a stomach bug, one’s got a cough, one’s just left and the other’s on holiday. That means I get Tin Knickers all to myself for the day. Oh joy.

On the almost-plus-side, I have to pay the balance of our money for the trip to Vegas in November. Watch out, we’re heading your way!

Who stabbed whom? And why?

And I won’t even comment about having my *head *patted…

I have to say, the good thoughts are appreciated, but the “bad” thoughts worked, for me, too

Thanks.

IANAMuslim, but I believe the correct term is “Blessed Ramadan” (“Ramadan Mubarak”.)

**BooFae **-- that description sounds scary  take good care of yourself!

**Tigs **and **FCM **-- Good thoughts going out to your respective husbands.

Me, I got nuttin’. Four day weekend is getting to be kinda loooong just about now…

***where ***is the Bear!?!?

Up and caffeinated, and off to work. Enjoy your Friday, Mumpers!

At work and caffeinating.

Good morning! TGIF - I have today off, thank Og. Two days of work was almost to much to bear.

Speaking of which, where is that Bear?

BooFae, that eye sounds scary! I hope it heals up soon.

Here’s some more hugs for {{{you and your mama,}}} SpecialOne.

FCM, sorry to hear about FCD’s surgery, but hopefully it will heal quickly, and he will be relatively pain-free forever!

PaleBunny, I’m so jealous! I would squee all over myself to play with a baby golden. I sure missed my babies while I was gone. I’m so glad I didn’t put them in “jail” while we were gone. Dad handled the babysitting just fine, except they haven’t had much exercise.

We’re going to the dog park in a little while, after I get some breakfast. I got up at five with Mr Rebo’s alarm, and fed the dogs and caffeinated a bit, but then I went back to bed for an hour.

To clarify, yes I am up for Monday. I have all the pictures uploaded and renamed into my computer, now I just have to compose something coherent to link them together!

See y’all later…

Ever wake up in the morning, absolutely furious at someone significant (spouse, child, etc.), and then realize the reason you’re mad at them was a dream?

It hasn’t happened to me for a long time, but this morning I had my briefs in a wad because VunderKind gave the wrong stack of books to a donation group, and I no longer had my college texts, but I did have VWife’s collection of Danielle Steele…

:smack:

Dotty that story is heartbreaking! It’s also eerily similar to the story of St. Gianna Beretta Molla, who was recently canonized. Here’s a link to her bio, if anyone’s interested: St. Gianna. She, too, was a doctor and sacrificed her life for her unborn daughter. The daughter was there when her mother was made a saint! I’ve always been interested in her, as a working mother myself.

[/Catholic info of the day]

Up, at work, and V-8ing. :smack:

I am so worried about the bear. He’s been AWOL all week if I’m not mistaken. FCM, try putting that address in google and see what you come up with. Just a shot in the dark.

I have never been more glad for it to be Friday. This has been a very exhausting week where the inmates have been running the asylum.

One of the models for Humberto has it tracking across Flawduh back into the Atlantic and then doing a 360 back at us.

We had about 3 inches of rain and plenty lightning early last evening. It was a tad scary there for a while.

bobbio, you funny. <snerk>

Later.

Tupug

Morning, all. I’m vertical and caffeinating. Further the deponent sayeth not.

Take care of that eye, BooFae!

It was supposed to be sunny for ten days, and then today stupid Humberto starts heading this way and this morning it’s cloudy and the humidity is rising. :frowning: I may have to close up the house before the day is over at this rate; it’s already reaching the upper ends of my tolerance, at least when I’m working. I can handle a bit more heat, but humidity and I do not get along (at least when it goes up and down – when it was up all the time in New Orleans, I never even noticed it after a while). Stoopid weather.

Off to do something constructive. I guess.

Wheeeeeee. Half day today!!

I have a 1 PM Doc appt. and this evening there’s a family reunion type of thing going on that I’d have to be home to get ready for early-ish, so I just took the afternoon off.

I say we send a search party for Da Bear.

Shana Tovah and Ramadan Mubarak to all!

Yeah…the walking thing is mystifying. One of the things I really like about the community where I live is that people actually walk. Almost everything you need is within walking distance (and there are sidewalks!). I walk to the library, the post office, the eye doctor, the hair place, the grocery, and lots of restaurants.

Hope your eye gets better quickly, BooFae.

What a sad story, Dotty.

What? There’s a requirement that the OP be coherent? Uh oh. I’m looking forward to tales from your vacation, Rebo.

Very cute kitty back there, mmmmmmmmm.

So does this mean Mom has arrived, MBG?

Maybe if we say swampy’s name often enough, he’ll hear us and check in.

I’ve been awake on and off since 6 or so. I don’t understand how it was possible that I woke up at the exact same time every day while in Chicago (well, +/- 5 minutes: between 6:42 and 6:47). Still tired. Maybe I’ll crawl back into bed for a little while.

GT

To those that missed it - my chorus is hosting the fall convention this year, which means we
[ol]
[li]get a stipend for doing so[/li][li]get to perform in the Saturday night show[/li](and most importantly)
[li]get to keep the money made at the boutique[/li][/ol]
the boutique is like a community yard sale, with bottled water (which the Adelines love) and snacks and generously overstuffed gift baskets up for raffle. For example, my salon donated a lovely array of CHI[sup]®[/sup] products.

Now I must do my last minute stuff and I’m outta here til Sunday evening.

Have a lovely weekend all

I remember that being a plot on an episode of Friends.

Hey, has anyone else noticed that Swampy hasn’t posted to this week’s MMP?

So far it’s a nice Friday.** BooFae**–I’ve always liked your moniker for your boss, but today I actually pictured it in my head: I got an image of Margaret Thatcher clanking around in ductwork like undies. Thanks.

Hope the eye gets better. We once had a woman have major, major abdominal surgery but when she woke up in recovery room, all she complained about was her eye. Luckily, there was an opthamologist across the street. He came over with some purple stuff, put it in her eye and used a special light on her eye. Clear as day, a gash appeared across her pupil/cornea. He Rx’ed eye drops and rest. Something must have gotten in her eye just prior to surgery. Yikes!

No one-sorry to hear about your mom.
I am going to make that leg of lamb today in the crockpot. It turned all fall-y (is so a word) today. Nice cool, crisp weather. Looks like rain later, though.

We seem to have run out of money-this is potentially problematic. (the COBRA is killing us). My problem is this: the husband says this to me (ok, he said-money is extremely tight this month, we must not spend on non-essentials. OK. Then -seriously, his next sentence was: how about we to out on a pontoon boat this weekend? Take the kids; you can study on the boat and we’ll make a weekend of it. Um… ). We’re not doing the boat thing this weekend–you get 3 guesses as to why.

Ditto. My area’s for walking.

Dotty, that was beautiful and sad. I hope the baby and daddy do very well. Ellen, what is St. Gianna the patron saint of? Mothers with difficulty in pregnancy and childbirth?

((((FCM+FCD))))

I was reading a hysterical, shrill, bossy pregnancy/birth/early childcare book about How to Raise a Green Baby. I prefer that mine be a normal human colour. Anyway, I should only eat organic food, attach a filter to my tap water, throw out my plastic water bottle and buy a stainless steel one, get rid of my shampoo and conditioner, and take a wide array of non-toxic alternative natural cleansers and my pillow in its organic cotton pillowcase when I go to the hospital.

I found out that having as little as two drinks a day can cause fetal alcohol syndrome! My word. Two drinks a day? I only have about one drink a week even when I’m not pregnant. Perhaps I should be hitting the bottle.

Also, I shouldn’t be drinking the tea in my cup. A few of my sensible books refer to all the well-meaning souls who try to wrest your coffee/hamburger/soda/chocolate bar from you as the Pregnancy Police. They specialize in Guilt Trips.

Today is my Day Off. Thank goodness.

I think all those obnoxious people you meet (or read) when pregnant are there to serve as a warm-up for all those you meet once the baby is born.
I remember reading in What to Expect When You’re Expecting to NOT give Baby a birthday cake–you were supposed to make some unsweet carrot cake thing(not decadent carrot cake) and give it to Baby dry.

I remember thinking…well, and when does Baby start living the good life? I’m all for banning CheeseWiz and high fructose corn syrup, but ye gods-birthday cake is Sacred. Morons.

Leg o lamb is now in the crockpot. I had to make some adjustments–the recipe called for a 6 pound leg! If this works, I’ll buy 2 legs and make it again. It already smells good…

Lissla, St. Gianna is a patron saint for mothers, physicians, and preborn children. St. Gerard is the patron for childbirth, but I’ve always like the idea of a female saint for that! She was really an amazing woman. There are several books on her life. Here’s a good site.

Happy Friday!

Hope swampy’s ok. I’m getting worried too.

That sounds like a good way to handle it. I think I may use that. Thanks.

LiLi, from what I understand the only thing people love more than giving advice to pregnant women is giving advice to new moms. The baby should/shouldn’t have a jacket on, the baby should/shouldn’t take a nap now, the baby should/shouldn’t have a feeding schedule, etc. Just think of all the guilt that’s waiting for you! :stuck_out_tongue:

I never watched Friends. :stuck_out_tongue:

One of my co-workers (a particularly young, stupid one) told me last night that he thinks maternity leave is just a year-long holiday, because ‘babies aren’t hard to take care of. They just sleep’. He thinks everyone should head back to work after two weeks. Presumable leaving the kid home alone. They just sleep until after work, right?

He’s twenty. I don’t think he’s ever been near a baby.
