A Monday without an MMP is like . . . (a substitute MMP)

For dinner, I am having two pieces of naan. I intended to have salad, but I haven’t made it to the grocery store yet, so I really don’t have any salad fixings. Also, naan sounded really good. Should actually have something with it (maybe lentil soup?) but I’m too lazy.
Maybe tomorrow.

Should really do a bit more cleaning up, but I’m feeling really lazy. I was supposed to work in the garden today and have completely failed to do so. Again, maybe tomorrow.

Really needed this vacation, I guess.

Well, the lappy is all set up, more or less. Networked and everything. It works well, so that’s good. My only gripe is that is has one of those new-fangled glossy screens instead of the older anti-glare style. Admittedly the picture looks nicer, but when the screen is dark it’s almost good enough to double as a mirror. What’s the deal with all the new laptops having these screens anyway? Did market research indicate that people wanted every light source reflected back at them at full intensity?

But anyway, it works and that’s what matters.

It’s friggin’ chilly out there today – currently sitting at 12° (~53F) which is unseasonably (and unreasonably) cool. I actually had to wear a jacket today. It’s s’posed to warm up considerably for the next week though so it’s just a temporary thing – at least until October or so when temps will end up dropping around those levels on a regular basis. sigh Summer’s practically over and winter is on the horizon. Bleh.

Chili (not chilly) for dinner.

Glad to see Swampy’s still with us. We were worried about you!

I’ve washed a few loads of clothes, and made chipotle-lime chicken thighs in the crock pot. We also went to see a movie - The Brave One with Jodie Foster. I highly recommend it! She’s a great actress.

I am so jealous of all of you wearing jackets, for Pete’s sake! It’s still hot as hell here, with matching humidity. I am so ready for some 80ish temps with lower humidity…

Oh, my. Apparently Papa Tigs found some king crab legs on sale; anyway, we had three HUGE, GIGANTIC legs each. I am so stuffed with crab I cannot believe it. Oh, and fresh aspergrass. Yummers!

Also, we couldn’t remember where all our nutcrackers/pickets/stuff you dig out seafood with were, but at the last moment I remembered this odd little set my mom gave me that had been given to my folks back in the '50s. We have no idea what it’s made out of – she said ivory, but we’re thinking perhaps white jade because it’s too translucent to be ivory. Anyway, there are four two-pronged long picks and four teensy little knives; the picks are needle-sharp and are the best tools for digging out crabmeat I have ever seen. All my mom knows about it is that it’s from China, and was given to them by a Chinese couple who were teaching along with my dad. So now I guess I need to do some research, or better yet go to an Antiques Roadshow – I doubt it’s valuable, but it is unusual and I’d really like to know more about it. But we’re going to keep using them, what the heck!

Off to eat the Godiva crème brulée “dessert chocolat” that Papa Tigs brought home for me this afternoon.

Evenin’/Whatever it is wherever you are y’all! Papa John’s made dinner tonight. Nice of him to drop by with pizza. We’ve also had a dip in the pool, which, amongst the many other chores accomplished today, I cleaned. Good thing it doesn’t take long to do that. Anywho, the water is actually a little on the cool side. I suspect that has to do with the recent rains and the fact that it was only 88 degrees Amurrkin for the high today. Definitely a hint of Fall in the south Jawja air. What? It is for here!

Also, in a fit of what I can only say is insanity, I invited people over for some pool time/early supper tomorrow. No, I have no idea why. Guess I need to prove I am sociable. So, I shall come home after church tomorrow and smoke chicken. I think some steamed fresh spareguts and those N.O.T. I told y’all about that I do on the grill with bell pepper and onion and a little butter will make a nice meal without too much fuss. Hmmm… know what… I might just grill the spareguts too…MMMMMMM… I bought an angel food cake for dessert which will be served with some fresh strawberries (well, fresh frozen, but I froze 'em) and real whipped cream. That should make for happy tummies IMHO.

I intend to be rid of everyone by around sevenish tomorrow cause Monday is a work day for everybody after all.

Moooooom nice ummm… middle of the page OP! Congrats on the sales to you and BioTigs. I think it’s jake that y’all donated your profits to local charities! Maybe in October you should take Bernie along. You could offer the chance to give her butt skritches with each purchase. That should bring 'em in!

Who’s up for Monday?

I b’lieve **Rebo ** is on deck for Monday. I hope her memory is better than mine… :o

As for Bernie in the booth, I’m thinking no. The next show is 6 hours, not counting setup and breakdown. Bernie can stay home and keep her recuperating Daddy company.

I made brownies this afternoon. They’re good, but they’re not quite right either – after the actual baking it occurred to me that I maybe should have tried the high altitude directions! Not that I won’t eat 'em, of course.

Yes, Rebo is up for Monday. We don’t have anyone for the following Monday, but BioTigs volunteered for October 1.

LiLi, if I were Mr. Lissar, I’d let the Sensei know of his suspicions. He can frame them as exactly that, since he doesn’t have proof, but that will let others be on the lookout for additional odd behavior and/or evidence. Seems like the signs are there, so the prudent thing is to give everyone the heads up.

I had some Ghirardelli chocolate chips for dessert. Yum.

Hey Mork. Nice to see you wander by.

Where’s if2x?

Those lobster picks sound neat, Tigs.

Wow, swampy! 3:00 a.m. is a horrible time to start a shift. Glad next week will be a bit more civilized. We will, of course, expect the wardrobe line-up for the week.

Off to do more stuff…

Duh, you’re over a mile up. Darn right you should use the high altitude directions! Silly wabbit!

It’s never been an issue before in my entire life, you know! After the first few days the only times I’ve noticed the altitude was when alcohol was involved. You thought I was a cheap drunk before?

pale bunny there was a story on the news here in Chicago the other day about some local firemen that made kind of a beefcake/fireman calendar and were donating the proceeds to 9/11 victims.

I thought of you.

I had pizza too, but I went out for it, cuz the place we went to, it has beer.

'Course, now I’ve dropped momma at her hotel, am home and guess what?

I got beer here too!!!

I remember once, due to some thread on this board, googling for such a calendar. fanning self Though they don’t have to get half-naked to be sexy. I don’t think I’ll ever forget how totally hot the one that talked to my tour group a couple of weeks ago was. OMG. g

Drive-by post …

More later today after playgroup. Enjoy your Saturday night and Sunday folks!

I will not shop at Wally World at 11P.M.
I will not shop at Wally World at 11P.M.
I will not shop at Wally World at 11P.M.

Even if I need dog food and new pants 'cause I’m too tahred to wash.

It’s hockey season in 14.5 hours!

Hugs and beerverages to everyone!

Oh. . . that. . . that was just the preamble. Don’t you remember the initiation when you joined The Dope? And why is that the part you remember? Was that the best part?

Especially in the context of your answer, what will you be doing with clay molds of your husband’s fingers? Inquiring minds are inquiring. :stuck_out_tongue:

Is that normally where one goes bear hunting? :dubious:

Mork, congrats on the new laptop! Sounds like fun!
**
swampy**, nice to have you back! They were just about to send the out the marines to come find you!

::bounce, bounce, bounce:: I can’t wait! Can you tell?

When you get that new machine with the built-in walking foot, make sure it has a free arm. That’s where you remove a piece of the flat bed and the remaining portion fits a standard-sized cuff so you can sew cylinders easily. Or do you already have one of these and you hate sewing them anyway?

Is this just me? I’ve now read this three times as . . .two pieces of man.

I’m with you. Can we boycott winter this year?
Hey Dotty!! ~waving~ and ~bouncing~

I knew it’s still hot there, but here’s a song to give you some cool thoughts. It’s not cold outside yet, but I love this song and the youtube reminds me of doggio’s LPs.

Baby, It’s Cold Outside youtube
Baby, It’s Cold Outside lyrics
[Ella Fitzgerald/Louis Jordan]I really can’t stay (Baby, it’s cold outside)
I’ve got to go ‘way (Baby, it’s cold outside)
The evening has been (I’ve been hopin’ that you’d drop in)
So very nice (I’ll hold your hand, they’re just like ice)

My mother will start to worry (Hey beautiful, what’s your hurry)
And father will be pacing the floor (Listen to that fireplace roar)
So really, I’d better scurry (Beautiful, please don’t hurry)
Well, maybe just a half a drink more (Put some music on while I pour)

The neighbors might think (Baby, it’s bad out there)
Say, what’s in this drink (No cabs to be had out there)
I wish I knew how (Your eyes are like starlight now)
To break this spell (I’ll take your hat, your hair looks swell)

I oughtta say no, no, no sir (You mind if I move in closer)
At least I’m gonna say that I tried (And what’s the sense in hurting my pride)
I really can’t stay (Oh baby, don’t hold out)
Oh, but it’s cold outside[/Ella Fitzgerald/Louis Jordan]

Good night and good morning everyone!

Still awake. I am so out of my routine!!!

I’ll have pictures up for the next MMP, Roo

GT

And we’re back. Not that I’ve done anything really productive in the meantime. Should have had breakfast by now, but haven’t even managed that.

Off I go.

GT

gt, great! I’m looking forward to it.

Hey gt, we must be the only dedicated Mumpers! (Or The Dope was down last night.) :stuck_out_tongue:

But I’m up and moving. Have a great day, everyone!

IT’S HOCKEY NIGHT IN CAROLINA!!!

I’m back from Mass. A kid 2 pews up was doing a mind meld on his brother. The roof leaked again during Friday’s monsoon. Like Father said, soon we’ll have a brand new church.

Due to the rain?

So, looking forward to hockey at all? Didn’t think so.

It was down, Roo. There’s an announcement at the top of the page that lists threads.
