A Mountains, Furniture, and Dogs MMP

I thought it was 304…

There was no job hunting yesterday, but it is supposedly in progress right now.

Hi, I’m home. Waiting for the AC repair tech. Any time between 1-5, and it’s just after 1, so any time now.

Flutter, my meatloaf is one of them never-the-same-twice dishes. But here’s how I made the most recent one:

2# lean ground beef
2 eggs
1 small to medium onion, chopped (depends on how much you like onion)
2-3 tablespoons of BBQ sauce - I think I used hickory this time
scant 1/4 cup of breadcrumbs - I used the italian seasoned flavor

Moosh it all together. Form a loaf. Bake on a raised rack at 350F for 50-60 minutes. Let it sit a bit before slicing, or it’ll fall apart.

Eat it up, yum.
**beebs ** - **Rue ** hangs out at Skip’s board and on LJ, although he doesn’t post a whole lot. I’m wondering if he’ll mosey back here when we’re free again. Last time I actually corresponded with him was months ago - I had a critter question, since he’s a Vet Tech and all.

Oh, and I like the idea of a nickname reference list. It’s hard to know the players without a program!!!

Southern Alberta

I’ve seen those things, though not Lawry’s (the brand up here is ClubHouse iirc). I use the shepherd’s pie, taco and chili ones but I want to do meatloaf on my own. Weird, but there you go.

**Flutterby ** I have a recipe that I can post on the blog later today as long as I remember.

I also thought it was room 304 as well. It must be getting dusty in there without **Lunch ** around.

Ok I just did it before I forgot. Here’s my meatloaf recipe.

But… there’s no fish heads.

It’s true. Distinct lack of fish heads.

Okay, I’m getting nervous. My Mum’s in Ottawa for a couple of days, and my Dad normally comes by on Wednesday to see the kid. He hasn’t come by, he hasn’t called, and when I call there’s no answer. I’m trying to figure out how much I should worry (which is a euphemism for ‘trying not to panic’). He doesn’t leave home much, he’s been not answering all day, and he has fallen down the stairs before. And he’s alone and 77.

I’m trying to decide if I should pack the baby up and run up to find out if everything’s okay, or if I’m being stupid. I don’t know.

LiLi, be patient. He’s probably getting a little side action, and will be by when he’s done.
Does he have a neighbor you can call to check on him?

I am too on the map! I remembered commenting on how close to my house you got, and I just looked at the list of names to the left of the map and I’m there. Or have I become invisible to you?

Fingers crossed that your dad’s okay, LiLi.

Thus far today I have done basically nothing. It’s definitely looking like that will be the program for the rest of the day, too. I’m feeling a distinct lack of ambition. I think I will just not worry about it and continue to be a slug. It’s quite enjoyable.

Do you hear that?! Cup your ears and listen! It the music of angels singing in the sky for I am accessing the Dope from work (on my lunch, of course). It’s unbelievable. I don’t know how or why it’s not being blocked.

Hope everything is okay with your Dad, Li-Li.

Mahna, I’m keeping my fingers crossed for you on the job front.

There’s nothing exciting going on here, just work and meetings, work and meetings. In fact, my lunch is about up, so I should go now and run yet some more data pulls and reports.

Ta for now.

I want a do-over on today.

Great, now it’s stuck in my head!

Fish heads, fish heads,
Roly poly fishheads
Fish heads, fish heads,
Eat 'em up, yum!

I make my meatloaf with Stovetop stuffing for the breadcrumbs. The seasoning adds a lot of flavor, too. Onion, green pepper, worcestershire, a drop of liquid smoke.

Thank goodness. He just picked up the phone. :tries to imagine Dad getting side action. Fails:

I’m glad I was worrying needlessly. I’m going to get their neighbour’s phone number. I was just remembering over and over that last year Mum came home to find him at thew bottom of the basement stairs… and he’s gotten pinned under heavy machinery. Aagh.

Heavy machinery? Then you DON’T want to hear the story of how my father-in-law flipped his riding lawnmower AND brained himself with some weights, which he had fixed to the front to prevent it from … tipping over backward. (He lives in the mountains.)

I get cold chills when I think of it! (He’s OK. Well, mostly. Not any worse than he was. )

My location is “East Bay”. Yeah, but which bay, you ask? That would be San Francisco Bay. If there are other regions known as “East Bay”, I haven’t heard of them.

As for the Wheel of Time, I have published a couple of theories to describe their suckness:
Theory of Literary Black Hole Formation
Theory of Plot Decay

Does sex after breakfast but before noon count as morning sex?

Just wondering.

Glad to hear your dad’s okay, LiLi.

I should be doing stuff but I feel lazy.

Does the idea of Mom & Dad Mom&Dadding fail, too?

Glad he’s OK, dear.

Suuuuuure.

My uncle cut his hand off while working on the roof.

Dad’s little brother. Must be more than ten years ago now.
They put it back on. He was alone, climbed down, found the hand, put it in the fridge, and called the ambulance.

To all those discussing the Wheel of Time series, let me say that I have read every one and while I’ve liked some more than others, I still look forward to the conclusion. YMMV

And according to his official blog, his wife and a writer are completing the final book.

tries to picture LiLi’s dad getting side action… and also fails

Glad your dad’s okay, though he’s clearly as mule-headed stubborn as ever.

Fire has been lit under several collective asses… now it just remains to be seen if they actually feel the burn and decide to do something about it. Huzzah.
