NO. A card would be nice. Are you getting Jason’s cousin something? Who is Jason to you?
The sky looks ominous again–I’m starting to look for Dorothy. No wind, though–which is kind of freaky in and of itself.
I seriously cannot unwind.
Wait a minute, where’s that psychiatrist that said I’m not Bipolar 2 right about now? She needs to read all my MMP posts.
Li-Li, glad everything’s ok.
McUne, I don’t see that you need to buy her a gift. But if you did, I’d make it something small like a $20 or $25 gift certificate to Target or somesuch…
THAT’S SMALL? I wanna have Christmas at your house! I don’t give $20 to anyone, unless I owe it to them. My purse is screaming in agony about now. <goes away muttering; vows to count change jar this night>
Um, ok…
Yeah, so, it’s me again… This is sorta TMI, but not too much. Anybody have a suggestion for birth control pills? I’m not really looking for it’s effectiveness as a contraceptive, but it’s ability to control moods around that time of the month. Yes, I know, You ANAD, etc., but I was just curious if anybody had good or bad experiences that they would care to share.
{{{{{{Rigs}}}}}}; so sorry for the loss of your friend’s Mom. LiLi, glad that it was only minor damage to your oven–how scary!
I went out at 7:30 AM, even though I didn’t go to work today–I was headed to Whole Foods to get yogurts and see if they had the Gjetost Norwegian cheese. They did! I also got a couple of other cheeses (omg, that place is cheese heaven!! But they’re all so expensive!) and of course spent more money then I had planned and got more stuff too, so my bag was a bit heavy. So … the trek to Trader Joe’s got postponed until Saturday morning, which will be another early one. It’s supposed to rain and probably thunderstorm tomorrow, but not until after noon (I hope!), and we should be home by then.
I also want to start crocheting and am wondering if there are any beginner crochet kits out there? Does anyone know? If so, where would I get one? I’m seriously bad at that sort of thing, unfortunately (I cannot sew either … :() and have trouble understanding directions for knitting. I don’t know what to do, I’ll need something very basic. I do know a bit about crocheting, but would prefer to just start from scratch this time - what I did know, I had taught myself … need I say more?! Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
Hope everyone enjoys the weekend.
Pie, I have no anecdotes for you because I opted for tubal ligation looooong ago, but apparently Yaz is marketed specifically toward control of mood swings and PMDD–might be worth a try.
Agree, you’re off the hook on that one, McUne.
Just got done helping future DIL to make up wedding invitations, got pretty much all the verbiage and formatting down and tested that my ink jet printer will handle parchment paper–no problemo. Yay! Also assisted daughter in choosing her bridesmaid dress for same wedding so I feel all productive and helpful right now. Yay me!
Jason is my husband, sorry about that, lol.
Glad you guys agree with me, and **Pie ** that is what we normally give to family!!! We both have huge families and that is about all we can swing. We are lucky that there is only 1 this year, usual it’s multiple. Back when I graduated back in '01, I got mainly $5-$20 in cards. It helped me greatly.
Moooom, the note cards are a good idea. Since I make cards I can whip up a small set no problem. And that costs me nothing since I already have everything here.
Huh. That’s where I thought I was.
I think you’ve been too busy with The Guy to notice what’s going on in anyone else’s room. And what’s all this about being exhausted when he goes over to your place? Y’all playing badminton in the house or something? You really should do something else when he comes over.
LiLi - No fires allowed! Glad it wasn’t major.
One of my favorite memories from when my niece was really little is her helping make muffins. She was about 2 and insisted on helping put the batter in the muffin cups. She did a surprisingly good job for such a little kid.
Hugs for Blaze and Rebo (forgot that upthread).
I vote for a token gift for the girlfriend. Or at least a card. But, if you don’t know her, then you shouldn’t worry too much about her.
The guy in the interview was John Bolton, rigs. I heard him on a Fair Game rerun the other night. AIR, he’s always had a reputation for being rather rude. Haven’t heard the BBC interview, but he was certainly rude on Fair Game. Here’s the link to the BBC interview. I find it interesting that Bolton is trying to sell this side of the argument while McClellan is selling the exact opposite.
Need to try Green & Black. I’m pretty sure Whole Foods carries it. My grocery store might even have it (they have some fancy stuff).
It’s Firday!!! Yayy!!!
I’m tired. Guess I’ll go do something productive-ish.
Hugs to all.
Back after a bit.
GT
No he’s not–he’s Mr McUne.
I, for one, have graduation and pomp fatigue. It is Sunday but before that we have several graduation parties (thank god Daughter didn’t ask for one–I did not offer), dinner out with my parents tomorrow night (I’d rather be bowling with cute Dopers like jinglmassiv, but I digress), dinner out with The Husband’s parents Sunday night. Church service Sunday morning (“say goodbye to the senior youth”) and then the actual ceremony Sunday afternoon. This comes after 4 weeks of 1-2 banquets/award ceremonies per week, plus Prom.
I am so done with the nonsense! Where I come from, you’re SUPPOSED to graduate from HS. Jeesh.
We are getting Daughter a laptop for grad. (and for kid’s friend’s Bday presents, they get $15 gift cards–I don’t give out grad presents to those I didn’t birth. Since I am the only one in my family of origin to birth, this is fine.)
Weather again looking weird–cool breeze coming from the south, which means unstable front. I could still see Dorothy sometime. Clouds are roiling above us, but still no real wind and no more rain.
Oh, thank you for the name! I was going nuts–but he is just an A-hole, so I can calm down now.
You rang?
Call 911. Make a fireman come…
Just got back from Indiana Jones.
I like this series and want to have carnal relations with it.
LiLi for future reference, garden variety baking soda is an excellent fire extingisher, but it’s a cast iron bitch to clean up afterwards. You’ll need a shop vac.
Fire Marshall Bob, out.
The weather is really annoying today. It feels like it’s on the edge of a storm but we haven’t gotten anything beyond a smattering of rain. Huh.
Roo, yes, we enjoy a good round of badminton when he comes over. We enjoy it so much that sometimes we play several rounds all in one afternoon.
Yay for Muppet!
I bought Tropicana’s new fancy woo-woo fruit juice with berries from the depths of the Amazon rainforest or some such nonsense. It tastes nice.
feh - I am not even going to try to catch up - 36 hours worth of missed posts - You all know I love you, right?
I’m a hurtin’ kitty tonight - I’ve been feeling very muscle weak of late, so PT tonight took everything out of me. I’m off to bed real soon now
.
VBob, with no pun intended at all, just about the hottest man I’ve ever laid eyes on was one of the huge crew of firefighters that descended on us last August when we had a major huge wildfire heading for town. Once things had settled down they started giving tours of their camp, and we got lucky that he was there and talked to us for a good half-hour. He showed us pics of his family and everything. (Cute kids.) Swoooooooooooooon. He was all scruffy and stuff. Real scruffy, not Hollywood-I-haven’t-shaved-for-three-days scruffy. If he hadn’t been married…sigh thud
I’m here, I will have more swan pics up tomorrow barring some sort of disaster, because the baby is so dang cute.
I got a lovely card today from some guests thanking me for their lovely room. I do appreciate it, but if they had only filled out one of those “how was your stay” forms with my name on it because if they do that we get a small cash bonus…oh well. The funny bit is that I didn’t actually assign the exact room they got, but I’m not going to track them down and tell them!
LiLi, I can just imagine that conversation IRL, "Yeah, I made bread today and set the kitchen on fire. Nah, it’s OK. Yeah, I’m eating some of the bread right now.
Bobbio, are you a firefighter? That picture reminds me of what I picture you looking like. ::swoon::, also.
I’m waiting for an update from The Man (man I need a nickname for him!), we’re supposed to play Risk if we can find a third person, and do mystery activity if we can’t. Maybe playing pool at the truck stop.
**chaoticbear ** how is Risk? I’ve never played the game before, but might be doing a game night with some friends and risk was brought up.
**Bobbio ** swoons I have a thing for firefighters…
Where’s the fire?
It’s in my pants!
Your resident sleeze,
