A Mountains, Furniture, and Dogs MMP

Isn’t anybody going to comment on snowbunny’s Angry Swan photo? Because it really is deserving of comment. And I say that not as her maternal unit but as someone who loves a good animal photo.

And speaking of snowbunny, she could use a couple of those extra chairs, too, Rigs, since you’re sending them around the country.

When the weather moved in, we closed up the house and turned on the AC, but either I’m having a serious nonstop hot flash or it is still absurdly humid in here because I am sweating like a pig. No, not glowing, sweating. As in drops of sweat running down my forehead. And Im doing nothing more strenuous than sitting at my desk. Gah. I hate middle-aged hormonal ridiculousness!

Somebody did, but I must say that is one pissed off swan! I love the pic–I just hope she isn’t risking life and limb–swans can and do attack and do damage to people.

Cute lil cygnet, though.

Off to get hair purtified. Lamb stew sounds good, but it’s too hot for stew, IMO.

I did have my camera set to full zoom, but lemme tell you that swan moves fast – I was several feet away from the edge of the pond when he jumped out and I headed away, and then turned around and got that pic.

I know quite well they attack!

I wish more of the cygnets had made it, but at least we’ve got the one.

Angry swan pic is awesome. He looks like he’s decided he’s actually a bull and is getting ready to charge. Cygnet made me go “awwwwwww,” of course.

I could use some chairs also. My dining room table has two colonial style chairs that I inherited from Faraway Best Friend (they were her grandparents’ kitchen chairs), 1 chair that was in my bedroom growing up, and 3 folding chairs. Five is a funny number, but I’m sure I could find a 6th that would coordinate. I keep looking for chairs that I like, but have struck out so far.

I’ve been to the park and all of our containers are labeled now. That’s always fun, because after we’re done laminating them, we get to walk around and put them in containers and look at everything close up.

Now I’ve had lunch and am going to go out and investigate my own garden. There’s lots to do out there. It’s 82 Amurrkin degrees out and humid. But at least it doesn’t look like it’s going to rain any more.

Back after a bit.

The angry swan pic is da bomb but those pics of the baby swan (cygnet) are just so gosh darn keeeeeeeeeee-yooooooooote! AWWWWWWWWW… who could blame daddy for wantin’ to protect such a keeeeeeeeeee-yoooooooooote baby!

I am happy to report that chicken sallit is made and I have had sufficient pool time today. Waaaaaaay sufficient. My belly is a really nice shade of red. Not to worry though it does not hurt. I showered and put some aloe vera jel all over it and my shoulders. I feel fine. Really.

I think I need a nappy poo. Not a happy poo. I had that earlier.

I also have a very nice ensemble put together for tonight. I mention this because I know how worried y’all must have been about what I would wear tonight. I am aware of how the minutiae of my everyday life effects everyone after all. I’m all sensitive like that. It’s a blue shirt with subtle shades of pink and gray, a pair of navy blue slacks and a tweed blazer in nice muted tones of blue and gray. Tweed you say? In Jawja this time of year? Remember, this will be inside and knowin’ Stonebridge Country Club as I do it will be nice and chilly inside so tweed will be good. I have been asked several times to consider joinin’ up at Stonebridge but always say no. First, I’m not really the “country club type”. Second, Stonebridge is a good fifteen mile one way trip from da cave. Sorry but a thirty mile round trip to go to a club that one must pay obligatory dues to whether one makes use of the amenities or not does not mesh well with da bears propensity toward cheap. If Ima shell out a few hunnert bucks a year for sump’n I dang well would intend to take full advantage of it. That, however, is to far too far to take regular full advantage IMO. Besides, could y’all really picture me at a country club? I thought not. :stuck_out_tongue:

Ok, Ima go nap now.

Bye!

The swan looks quite menacing. I’m half afraid he’s going to bite my finger off through the screen.

Ack, hungry, what to do for lunch.

I believe it might just about finally be summer!!!

'bout frigging time.

Summer? I don’t think so. Though our summer rates kick in tomorrow.

It’s lovely weather. About frickin’ time. :: clinks beer bottles with MBG ::

Here’s the menu for tonight:

Irish Lamb Stew
Dinner Rolls
Pots de Creme

We had a nice thunderboomer sweep thru, dropping the temperature at least 10 degrees - yay! The dust is settling, slowly, but there’s a lot of dusting and vacuuming to be done. I’ve got a load of clothes in the washer, soon to be tossed in the dryer.

Supper was a chicken teriyaki stirfry. We’ve eaten already because no one had lunch and everyone was staaaahvink!! Which means there’ll be some serious snacking in a few hours. Ah well.

I returned the concrete saw and picked up a jack hammer for more floor breaking tomorrow. That’ll be interesting, I’m sure. It’s all starting way slower than we’d hoped. With luck, we can pick up the pace.

'Night, everybody!

Just got back from driving Special Teen back to school in Jerusalem. She came home on an “uneven” weekend (one she was supposed to stay at school on), so had to be back by 11 PM tonight – so I drove her.

Other than that, I spent most of the day napping, trying to get back some of the hours of sleep I lost during the week. Of course, I’m writing while connected to work right now, during a lull, so I’m going to be losing a few of those hours right back… :smack:

Swan pic is great, SnowBunny! Them’s an angry species… I’ve found out first handed in the past – and that one looks like their King of Mad

**Pie **-- have you considered maybe **Ivory **wants to encourage me?

Why is it that swans are so purty and sooooo mean?? And how does that translate to me being nice, dammit?

Happy Saturday everyone!

We just spent a whole whack of The Boy’s money… it’s his birthday today, and he decided that he’d treat himself to a new lens for his camera - a 1x-5x macro lens, to be specific. He’s now in full photog mode, running around the house trying to find things he wants to see at 5x magnification. Of course, he also had to buy a tripod and a rail focuser to go with, because they’re Absolutely Necessary Accessories for this new lens.

…I’m so throwing that in his face next time he teases me about buying a new purse or new shoes for a particular outfit.

It also happens to be our 3 yr anniversary tonight, so we’re going to purtify ourselves and venture out for a nice dinner here. Sadly, it is raining buckets at the moment, so we won’t be able to sit on the patio as we’d originally hoped… poop. :frowning:

Here’s a helpful household hint - doing laundry is quicker and easier if you ensure the water supply to the washer is, in fact, turned on.

:smack:

Everything translates to you being nice, dammit, Moooom!

We had to get a new router last week, as reported, from Verizon; while we got the wired computers up and running immediately, we couldn’t get a wireless connection on either laptop. So today Papa Tigs finally got on the phone with Verizon – getting a real live person who actually (1) was an occupant of North America and (2) admitted he’d never seen this particular problem before but could figure it out, instead of just running through a stupid script, and between them they finally got it all straight. So now I can computer on two 'puters at once, just like Papa Tigs – one for work and one for games.

We’re also seriously considering upgrading my desktop; it’s at the point where it’s soon not going to have enough computing power for everything I do on it, and right now desktops can be found on great sales. So we shall probably take advantage of one shortly. Computers have turned into such byte hogs, it’s not surprising that the microprocessor in this computer – which is, after all, nearly five years old, even though it’s had a memory upgrade so it has about four times what it originally came with – is getting out of date. You can put all the memory you want in, but if the processor is too slow…and last night really was the limit: My Firefox chose to crash just as I was nearing my desired score in an online game I’d been playing for two days. Grr…

Back to doing not very damn much. And looking forward to the IDIOTIC dog grooming reality show on Animal Planet tonight. I’ve seen some dumb TV shows, but that one just about truly takes the cake for pointlessness. It is, however, a good show to point and laugh at.

Daughter and son-in-law are working together to finish their thank-you notes. Yay! My nagging paid off!

In honor of the last day of May: A selection from all three advice mavens.

You know how I know my university library is cool? They have a copy of “Reefer Madness” with the Mike Nelson commentary in the DVD collection. My dear god, that is a wacked-out movie!

But the more important question is: Is Special1 trying to encourage me?

**
Snowbunny- Angry Swan**, hmmm- I like it!

Yeah, I’m seriously considering it. The only thing I’d wonder is if people who don’t know about the actual swan would think I am angry, which I (usually) am not! But I’ve been wanting to change my name for awhile, I just haven’t come up with any possibilities until now.
