A Mountains, Furniture, and Dogs MMP

I envy you. How was dinner?

Sigh. There’s a big pile of WWII photos of my uncle’s family, mostly taken during the internment. It doesn’t seem right to throw them out, but I have no idea what to do with them if we take them. Mum says they’ve still got all of Dad’s family’s internment memorabilia, so we’ve got lots of photos. I took their wedding portrait (mid-Fifties), and I think I’ll put it up. It’s very cool.

Anyway, anyone want a lot of WWII Japanese photographs?

Nope, you missed.

I’m a big fan of downloadable audio books from the library. Perhaps your library has that service. I know that most Overdrive collections that I’ve seen have Terry Pratchett novels in them.
:: pointing and laughing at Soapy’s attempt to be first:: It never works when one is trying. It’s the way of things. Hehe.

Good morning everyone. Up and caffienating, finally. Well, I was up and awake before eight, but I seem to have issues with the coffee maker today. First, I forgot to turn the damn thing on, second, when it first started brewing it was exceptionally light in color. Like see through. This is not coffee. It seems to finally have straightened itself out and the coffee is of an acceptable strength now.

What? I like my coffee strong and black. I was all worried that I was going to have start over.

Welcome, Phil. Best thoughts to you and your family re: your son-in-law.

So last night I entered the true world of WoW geekdom. I did my first ever Karazan run. Yeah five and one half hours were spent in this instance. I also had to respec my character and turn into a healing pally vs the retribution pally I always was before. This meant getting new gear and a new weapon, but there wasn’t any really great gear. So, I’m wearing pretty crappy gear vs the really good gear and weapon I had a retribution pally. I’m used to jumping in and pounding on mobs with my sword, it was really hard to just stand back and send heals out to our tanks. I’m kind of WoWed out at the moment, but Mr. Taters wants to play some more, I’m not going to either; at least, not for now.

I’ll bet you just all wanted to really know about all that WoW stuff huh? Wasn’t that exciting?

Weather here is crappy. When the hell is summer going arrive and stay for more than one freakin’ day at a time.?

My husband’s nephew and wife are supposed to drop by today. We’re also supposed to go out to breakfast this morning. Finally, I have to drop my daughter off at a schoolmate’s house again so they can continue working on a movie they’re making for their AP Lit class. I was so hoping to just take my time putzing around the house this morning and then maybe taking my daughter to the mall so we could get her a “professional” looking outfit for her Scholarship Tea.
I guess that’s not happening.

Happy Anniversary Mahna! Here’s a toast to having many, many more together.

I guess I should get my sorry ass in gear.

Big smoochies to everyone!

I’m up, have to be to work in less than an hour.

I’m eating a big bowl of cantaloupe that I cut up yesterday with a big hunk of bread.

Also, remember when I did dishes yesterday? There are now (no joke) two dishes full of dirty dishes, including over a dozen cups/glasses. WHERE DO 15 DIRTY GLASSES COME FROM IN ONE NIGHT?

This sounds some how naughty… And yet, I made pancakes and sausage for breakfast. Very tasty! Now I’m perusing the grocery store ads to see if anyone has chicken on sale so I don’t have to go to the crazy land that is Sam’s Club on a sunday.

Congrats, herbs, on 4 weeks!!!

You know, beebs darling, I love reading your posts. However, when I’m following along on my phone it’s terribly difficult to read what’s in your spoiler boxes. :stuck_out_tongue:

Your phone.

I spit on it.

Pa’tooey… pa’tooey.

I dunno, but for some reason I’m picturing your roommate(s) pouring and drinking glass after glass of beverage and piling them in the sink while giggling and masturbating furiously. This is your fault, BTW!

It’s all cloudy and less than pleasant out there… I want to go do something but I look out the window and say “blech” and then nothing happens. Grump.

YAY! to herbs! That’s very cool–the combined benefits of quitting the horrible habit and tanking up on fruit & veg will have you so healthy you’ll be busting outta your socks!

I’m still sleepy and my feet are cold. Bleah…

See? This is why we can’t have nice things… :smack:

Dinner was fantabulous. We both ordered the 8-course tasting menu, and we were pleasantly surprised to discover that they gave each of us a different dish for each course (which means we each really had 16 half-courses, because we stole bites of each other’s food and switched plates for some of the courses). My favourite dish was a tomato stuffed with shredded beef ragu and topped with seared foie gras and drizzled with a demi-glace reduction, though the strawberry sponge cake with ice wine mousse was pretty darn good too. Nom nom nom.

It was quite pricey, but then again, we only do this once a year… plus we were there for nearly 3 hrs, which means they didn’t have the option to turn over the table several times the way mid-range restaurants do.

donkeybear, clearly this was the work of the Dish Gnomes, who sneak into your house at night, dirty up all your dishes and cutlery, and then scurry off into the depths of the furnace room. The only way to appease them is to leave a pot half-full of fermenting couscous on the stove.

Speaking of food… someone ordered Swiss Chalet for lunch, which I’m heartily sick of at this point (it seems to be the free lunch of choice around here, unfortunately), but at least it’s a) free and b) edible.

What Smarty said.

Graduation stuff:

now my mother is nattering on about (of all things) my pension(!). She’s worried I don’t have one. I think she may be going slightly ga-ga…

LiLi--find a museum and ask if they’d like them for their collection (the photos).

I refuse to contemplate anyone masturbating while creating dirty dishes.

Gorgeous day here–perfect for an outdoor graduation.

LiLi, I have a thing for old photographs, if it’s between giving them away or throwing them away, I will very happily take them off your hands and promise them a good home.

Mr. McUne and I just got back from going to the casino for their brunch buffet with a buy one get one free coupon. Was delish. He was in the mood to gamble a bit, so we did, and I left even and he left down $15. It was fun, though now I smell like cigarette smoke. Yuck. Need to shower and wash clothes now. I think what I enjoyed most was the drive there and back, we went through the country roads and I so love the country. Was fun.

I think I’m going to be off to play with my plants and then possibly scrapbook. Relaxing fun day.

A couple of wise guys, huh.

Funny, funny girls.
Why is beebs spitting on things? (hides my iPhone, which can’t do spoilers either)
ETA: Yeah! I’m post #514!!! That’s the really cool one to get!

No relaxation here at Casa De Taters. We’re heading out to breakfast, then I have to drop my daughter and son at daughter’s schoolmate’s house, then back here for some cleaning, then nephew and niece and law are coming over, and between all of that I somehow need to hit the grocery store and pick my daughter and son up again.

**Mr. Taters ** was trying to talk me into another raid tonight on WoW. I told him I really didn’t want to, especially with everything else going on today.

Oh, I also need to squeeze some laundry into the mix! Too much to do, not nearly enough time.

I so want a nice, do-nothing, go-nowhere weekend. It doesn’t seem like it’s ever in the cards for me, though.

My daughter’s graduation is June 14th. sniff Where did my little baby go?

Don’t feel like doing anything. You can’t make me!

:: sits in corner, clutching coffee ::

Am exhausted and have to leave for the grad ceremony. Am wearing a dress and heels which is probably why I’m exhausted. Parents are already at the HS–with the best seats in the house (why do older folks do that? Neither of them is infirm or in any way disabled). Daughter is there. We leave in minutes. No idea why I’m posting this, then–surely I have other things to do?

see you all later…

Also donwanna.

But today and tomorrow are the only nice days in the 10-day forecast, so I need to get back outside to mow and plant some more and generally clean the place up.

I’ve been to church and brunch and a nursery for a few fill-in plants and Lowe’s for a trellis for my lovely mandevilla. I know you wanted to know. Of course, I’d rather be at work, just like Muppet, of course.

I have all the pictures my Dad took in Japan, LiLi. He traveled in Japan a bit after his tour in Korea. I have no idea what the pictures are of or who the people in them are, but I can’t bring myself to throw them out. At least they don’t take up much space (a bunch of them are slides). I keep thinking I’ll scan a couple and print them and hang them somewhere, but haven’t gotten to that. (I like the museum suggestion, too.)

My right arch and instep have been kind of hurty lately, so I’m icing them down before going back out. I’m learning to use my left foot for anything that requires strength for the moment.

Back later…

The nine-year-old won’t shut up, the fourteen-year-old keeps fighting with him.

iPhones are evil. The tools of the devil.

Just like the telephone, the radio, the automobile, television…

Happy anniversary, **Muppet **
Hmm… Working on Sunday and off on Friday – I think you’re just about ready to move to Israel!

Li-li – don’t throw those pictures out; I’m sure there is some historically interesting stuff there! There must be some place that will be happy to have them.

**Ivory **-- it’s not as important to be first on the page, as to be first in someone’s mind

**Rigs **-- I guess it’s too late to wish you a successful and stress-free graduation ceremony, but I hope it *went *well!

Tired. **Haze **-- can I join you in the corner?
