Oh, poor dog! I hope she heals up quickly.
Okay. I am going to finish the dishes and then organize the fridge.
Right now.
Woot! First on 3!

OK- I’ve seen this twice now-- what is NOT?
Awww… poor Frankenpup, all shaved and stitched up like that. Glad to hear she’s already back to her old self, though… won’t be long before her fur grows back and she looks like her old self too.
Haze, glad to hear the BBQ was fun and drama free (though I’m sure rigs is sorely disappointed not to get her fix of Haze of Our Lives).
It’s a quiet day at the office, since half the staff are off celebrating our founder’s 75th birthday. I decided to skip out, since I wasn’t much in the mood for “team building games”, chowing down on hot dogs and popcorn, flag-waving, saluting The Big Guy Himself, and other corporately-endorsed squeaky-clean fun.
Some days if feels like I’m stuck in an episode of The Office. Thankfully, we haven’t been coerced into a fun run to raise money for rabies… YET.
It’s very cold and windy here today. What the hell happened to yesterday’s hot muggy weather?
ETA: Soapy, NOT stands for Not Our Taters. We may like our spuds 'round here, but us Mumpers ain’t cannibals.
Huh? You live in the desert–wherefore the humidity?
Smarty–Warner Bros/Disney–whatever. His float included gold nuggets, the seashore (with palm tree), a Lego movie set, the La Brea tar pits and the Road Runner. I also stuck Minnie on at the last minute, just in case…
Hazel–I am severely disappointed. I am leading a very boring but insanely busy life at present. I was hoping for a bit of vicarious drama. (how about if VH is only pretending to not know and really does know and is plotting a dastardly call to INS and the job prospects of TG…and she was seen buying rat poison not 2 days ago! Who is the man who was observed leaving her apartment? Could she have had another love interest this whole time?)
Tis cold outside. I just finished re-re-re-reading HP7. I have to say it’s uneven at best and I no longer read the epilogue because it’s so bad. I’m still not clear on the whole wand thingy, but I give up now until the movie comes out. I am supposed to read War and Peace this summer, but found some Joan Hess that I haven’t read, so instead of broccoli, I’m eating Twinkies. Got a problem with that?
rigs, I live on a desert island - surrounded by water, lots and lots of water (but not a drop to drink )! Now, if I were in Riyadh (Og forbid, what a hellhole that place is), I would be dealing with 120[sup]o[/sup]F weather, but it would be dry heat. Worst I have ever encountered was in Abu Dhabi, where it was 53[sup]o[/sup]C/127[sup]o[/sup]F and quite humid - that was real staying inside weather!
That’s excellent. Glad to know our Taters is safe.
Ah. And at least you don’t have moronic people saying, “but it’s a dry heat!”. But you probably have moronic people saying, “it’s not the heat, it’s the humidity!”
some people need killing.
Augh! And I thought the 45C/115F with 99.99999% humidity just pre-typhoon in southern Japan was awful! (Especially since we were in that “calm before the storm” – there really is such a thing.) My niece recently moved away from Phoenix, and she complained the whole time she was there about how everybody thought it was a dry heat, but so many people have moved there and planted stuff that now it’s far more humid. Same with central Texas; I remember Austin being fairly low in humidity once upon a time. Us peoples can really screw up climates, can’t we?
I gave up on working for a bit and took the Idiots out for a drive while I ran a couple of quick errands – it was too hot out to leave them in the car for more than about 2 minutes, so I had to skip the bookstore, alas, but at least I got the other vital errands run. And then Isaac sat there flirting with two women in the car next to us on the way home; he was greatly admired. He’s quite the flirt when he wants to be!
Now it’s back to the salt mines. At least the job I have after I finish this one – which I can get done by COB today if I stick to it – is, although insanely late before I ever got it, much lower on the priority-to-the-reporting-company scale (i.e. not nearly as big a contract for them), so when I get today’s job done I am not doing ANY more work tonight. Instead, I will crawl into bed and veg out with the cat in front of mindless TV and then go to sleep really, really early. Sounds like a plan! And (knock wood) it should be a quiet week work-wise otherwise, so hopefully I’ll have a few days to clean my office, sort out crap in the back room, and, most importantly, get myself feeling healthy again.
Back to work so I can implement step 1 of that highly desirable plan, the crawling-in-bed-and-vegging part!
Nothing, NOTHING, beats getting out of an ice cold air conditioned car (where your extremities are now cold and blue) into the midst of an Illinois cornfield in August, when the temp is in the low 100s and the humidity is 100%, with no breeze. You can feel and almost hear the corn transpiring, adding more moisture to the environment as you gasp for breathe and your pores melt. It must be what death feels like.
I loathe heat and humidity. Loathe, hate, despise and abominate. Grrrrr…
Off to do some housework. toodles!
I’m either a hopeless romantic or hopelessly crazy.
I just booked DH and myself onto a honeymoon cruise to the Caribbean next February. The weird thing is that the ship isn’t even built yet. Well, it is built and floating, but it’s not fully fitted-out yet.
A quick scroll through the ship’s blog makes it look like a floating construction site, which I suppose, it really is.
For now, I’m just a mix of giddy and queasy after committing quite a few dollars to a vacation. But, it’s been over six years since we’ve been on an actual vacation that didn’t involve sleeping in a family member’s spare bedroom, the camper, or a crappy motel with a number in its name. We’re due.
For those keeping track, DH has finally been hired. He started with a children’s’ health charity today as the assistant to the local director. Not fabulous, but it is a job in his normal profession. Thus ends six months of unemployment.
LiLi, I say skip the godets.
Also, Nat is very very cute.
Stop itching, you stupid ovaries. For the last time, we are NOT having a baby. Grrrrr.
Yay for honeymoon bookings and DH finding a job, gotti! February is the perfect time to jaunt off to the Caribbean for a nice dose of sunshine so that you can make the rest of us horrendously jealous as we freeze our butts off.
What a waste of a day. I had to go to a stoopit meeting at 9, run by my favorite Idiot Stupidhead who proved how stoopit he was again and again. First off, he’s a lousy speaker - he’d start far too many sentences with multiple false starts or disclaimers so that once he got to the point, listeners were totally confused. Plus he obviously doesn’t understand the proper usage of I and me. I lost count of the times he said something like “You can send your questions to Joe or I.” AAARRRRGGGGGHHHH!! The man has an engineering degree from the Naval Academy and he can’t speak proper English. I weep.
Anyway, his moronic meeting involved most of the folks in my office, so we spent some hours dissecting his idiocy. Bottom line - mostly a wasted day.
But I’m home, alone, planning to make a meatloaf and smashed N.O.T. for supper, and some veggies, too. I’ve got to go pick up my car before 6, so as soon as someone gets home, I’ll tend to that.
I found out **FCD ** gave the newlyweds some tasks to do today that didn’t involve finding work. I could smack him with a wet trout. Sheesh! So I can’t use my subtle line today. But I do have a website to direct SIL to peruse - usajobs. He’d do well to try to get a job with the Feds. He won’t do it, but he’d be smart to try.
It’s overcast and I think I may have heard thunder, but I’m not sure. Temps are supposed to plummet overnight as a front graces our area. Yay - I can avoid turning on the AC for yet another day.
**puggy ** - your Frankenpup looks so pathetic. Glad the surgery went well.
**MBG ** - you are such a guy, I swear!
**Rebo ** - doncha love deadlines? heh
**Dotty ** - dang - you make me less inclined to whine about our heat. I’ll still whine, but I’ll be less inclined to do so.
Hugs all around!
naptime…
zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz
Oh my. My my my! God Bless Zyrtec!!
Dotty how many cute kittens did you see wandering around Abu Dhabi? I’ve always wondered how many are really there.
I got new glasses today! No pictures because I don’t have the USB cable for the camera. They’ve still got that “new glasses oh god the lenses are slightly different my eyes they are adjusting” feel to them.
Wasn’t Abu Dhabi where Garfield always said he was going to send Odie?! It does sound pretty bad, weather-wise that is!
LiLi, the dress looks great on you! And cute pic of little Nat too.
FCM, excellent suggestion on the USAJobs website.
Aww, poor Frankenpug! I’m glad to hear that she’s doing better, though.
Two down, three to go! laughs And I didn’t even have to “do” the first one.
Page 3 already! Jeez, I can’t keep even when I do try!
Yay **Gotti **and DH for renewed employment!
**Aleq **-- it’s me you want to swap weather with right now. Or just come visit – I promise to make it an enjoyable stay
**Dotty **-- I consider it a **really **bad day whne temps hit 40C here!
**Haze **-- sorry to say, but if The Guy hasn’t told VH yet, he’s expecting Drama; which probably means he’s right… I think you (all of you) need for the other shoe to drop before you can be sure what’s really going on.
Which means Rigs may well still get her fix
I was cancelled for tomorrow, which is fine by me. I still don’t get why someone hasn’t died and left me independently wealthy, but perhaps the letter of notification went astray? Anyway, I will have to work Thursday and Friday. Of course, Wednesday is our late start/easy day; I’d rather work Wednesdays than any other day of the week, but I’ll take what I can get.
I pumped gas about 20 minutes ago. $54 to fill my tank, which wasn’t completely empty. Agh. And it was freaking cold outside. I like it cold, but this is unusual for this time in May. #2 to soccer soon. #1 is at scuba–it takes me an hour round trip to get him there with traffic. I am either so lazy it’s a sin or that’s a lot of traffic. Perhaps both…
The cat is sucking up because her food dish is empty.
Thanks, tara. I think the baby is cute, too. I’m glad the dress turned out okay. Now to explore the colour option in the $2.99 t-shirt bins at Ends.
Which reminds me- I just found a container full of shirts I can’t wear while pregnant or breastfeeding, and I’m pondering giving them away or having a yard sale or something. We intend to have more kids, probably in not too long, I’m probably not weaning till January, if then, and I’m likely going to be pregnant again (and then breastfeeding) in a year or two. I don’t know that I love the clothes more than the space. I just hate to get rid of things that fit and that I like, even though they’re impractical.
rigs, I keep waiting for someone to die and leave me leave me a reasonable sum, oh, nothing fancy. $5 million should cover it.
Just put Gnat to bed. Mr. Lissar had to run a lot of errands after work, and should be home quite soon. Supper is pasta e fagioli with added stuff (mushroom, ground beef, wine), and some slightly stale homemade bread.
And a lot of merlot to drink. It’s a wine night. Long day.
