Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffienatin’ here. I feel much better. However, it’s back to work, so boo. Ok, gotta go forage some brekkies and purtify for work.
cb I didn’t make the pie but google lemon icebox pie and you’ll get a good recipe. They ain’t hard to make.
Everybody else, yays, boos, hugs, etc. as needed.
Later Y’all!
Can I tuck you in with a cup of tea?
Funny, that’s what struck me too! I vote for “The swan that ate Idaho” as the new improved title…
Must work today- two end of the year reports to write and I Am Not Motivated.
I need motivation, please
Mornin’. Blech - work.
I got a voicemail yesterday evening, that was left on Sunday afternoon. From my engineer, asking where was the stuff I didn’t know had to be finished before I left Thursday.
I hope he’s not too pissed. But he didn’t tell me the deadline!
Up and off to work again.
:: Unlurks ::
Mornin’, y’all.
Back at the office to get my rest. I pulled 2 ambulance shifts, the first Thursday night/Friday morning to make up the one I missed because of pinkeye; the second was Sunday night/Monday morning. The first shift was another exercise in butt-picking. The other one had me running until 3 AM. I won’t regale you with details, 'cept to say I had my 4th CPR call. The national average is 25% are successful, so I figgered I was due. Alas, it didn’t happen.
There were 2 other calls I took outside of the shifts, too. One got a little rough.
In happier news, I finished planting th garden, planted a flower bed, and put up a gazebo Friday. Promptly took it down yesterday after the wind threatened to do the job for me.
Oh well, back to the salt mine.
ETA: I wanna add a plug for this thread, cuz it’s a Mumperish thing to do.
The blessed child let me sleep till seven today. I love him! Even more!
Morning, everyone. Laundry, clothes sorting, dishes, tidying, maybe vacuuming. We’ll take an exciting trip to the grocery store for more laundry detergent, too. Oh, the thrills! I’m three-quarters through another dress, this one made from only one t-shirt. I’m a little unsure about it, but Mr. Lissar (who’s very very tactful) says it doesn’t make me look fat, and in fact makes me look less fat than some of my dresses.
Yes, he’s still alive.
Why does this thread think I signed up for once-a-day email alerts? Stupid…whatever…that makes the board send emails to me!
skimskimskim rigs, you should add a mini immigrant crossing sign to the shoebox float. That’s the image that stayed with me the most clearly when I was in California.
Apparently yesterday was “Everyone Go See Indiana Jones Day.” Which is why my day for that is Friday’s afternoon matinee. Spazes do not do well in crowded movie theaters. Spazes tend to yell at the yappers unless there is a nephew present, thereby forcing Spaz to be A Good Example. (Until he’s 15, then he gets to see the real me. )
I have “Bel Mir Bis Du Shoen” stuck very firmly in my head.
LiLi, what do you expect? He’s a man. It’s almost on par with The Boy’s compliment the other day of “you’re the most un-stinky girl I know”. Admittedly, he said it because I was complaining about being stinky after gardening all day, but still…
Rebo, don’t you love people who get flustered because you’re not done something yet, even though they were horribly vague on a deadline? I tease one of my old bosses mercilessly about his habit of walking up to you and casually asking “Hey, you know that spreadsheet/report/analysis/etc I asked you to do the other day? Ummm… I kind of need it right now. Is it done yet?”. This calls for more
Up and caffeinating. Pondering whether to eat my apricot-almond square now, or save it so I can use it to combat the mid-afternoon slump.
beebs your dream sort of reminds me of the weird dreams a had a lot of after my (second) husband I got married. Weird and upsetting dreams that I was still married to the first one, to the both of them simultaneously (which is rather Lissla-like) … or that I was just married to the superior second model, yet somehow still stuck with the first. On telling this last to my husband, he remarked that it is, in fact, true. :smack:
Anyway, despite being laid low by hideous allergies, I gamely planted and potted all the afternoon away yesterday. My nose is a glorious shade of red, as well as being cracked and peeling. Currently my eyes are watering, sending a cascade of mascara down my cheek. I’ll wow 'em at the office today!
A month ago my boss told me not to bother about my expenses for this month, since I’m on per diem.
Now she wants my expense tickets and says that the per diem is only when we’re on location.
I have explained that the deal between her boss, my agent and me is that I’m on per diem and that I happen to be on location by the way. “Base” for me is 3h away from the chair I’m now sitting on; if she says I have to travel that daily, Spanish Work Safety law says that, since my “base” is the one 3h away from this chair, I’m to count the time spent traveling as worked time Methinks the boss wouldn’t like that. Basically, either I’m “on location” (in which case I’m entitled to having travel expenses, which can be done as expenses or as per diem) or I “work from base,” in which case any trips from base are part of the workday.
I’m refraining from resending her her own letter from a month ago, for now, as well as from giving her that Safety Law information, because we’re only at the beginning of the project and I don’t want to draw the claymore too soon but dangit this gives me the grrs
<wishes she worked in Europe but then remember that nurses there (in UK at least) have to clean the pt’s rooms after discharge so shuts up>
I took #2 son to school with the float. We found a Road Runner figurine to use instead-way cooler than Minnie Mouse. I just hope that the Legos don’t get stolen or wrecked.
It’s about half as warm today as it was yesterday–it’s now 45 and yesterday it was 82. Canada came to visit. I have some errands to run and then the insanity of Tuesday afternoons starts–#2 to soccer; #1 to SCUBA etc. I now hate Tuesdays.
Ok, everyone pile on and yell at me.
I felt really good, knee-wise this weekend. Haven’t had any soreness or swelling, the Marquisa DeSade of therpists said I should get back to light-ish duty things, so I took that to mean I could do a little raking, trimming, watering and the like over the weekend.
Alright, yes I cut the grass. And cleaned the garage. Oh, and washed/waxed the car.
Ow.
I wonder what your idea of “heavy” is, lifting buses one-handed?
No virtual chocolate for you!
OK, that’s cruel. Here, have some.
Morning, all. I hope everyone is feeling better than I am this morning. I don’t know if I’m sick or what, but whatever the case, I feel like I’ve been run over by a freight train this morning. It may be the weather – it’s getting heavy and humid, and I get about 100 times more achy when the barometer and humidity are going up or down. Stable, no matter whether it’s humid or dry, I’m fine; as it changes, I hurt from head to toe. Which really sucks.
Anyway, I hope everyone else is doing better than I am this morning. Off to try to finish that job this morning; I hit the wall last night far too early.
Evening all.
Another day, another dollar. Man, it was hot today. Actual temperature was about 100°F/38°C, but with humidity it was more like 111°F/44°C - Gah!!! I still feel overheated and drained, even though I only spent about 10 minutes in the mid-afternoon heat, walking from open-air parking to the office, after the end of the conference (very exciting stuff - Islamic Funds and Capital Markets). I think the temp’s gone down to about 90°F/32°C now that the sun has set!
Awwww, {{{Tigs}}}
Forty lashes with wet noodle for MBG, check!
How’s your head, Haze?
Rigs, but Road Runner is Warner Bros, I thought the idea was to convey Disney? Color me confused…
Is it in any way fair that the weather is cloudy and rainy? Not cold–it’s getting up near 70F every day, but cloudy. And rainy. Yuck. My poor daughter went to Colusa, CA for the weekend and it should have been miserably hot (which she was looking forward to–she hasn’t quite developed her webbed feet yet) but instead she brought the Oregon weather with her. She’s bummed, poor thang.
Yuck. Phooey. I need some sun, dammit!
ETA: Swap ya, Dotty! Well, on second thought maybe not. That’s a little TOO hot!
Hello, all! I bring you Frankendoggie! Poor thing got all surgified on Friday and had three teeth pulled to boot. She looks like she found the wrong end of a pit bull, no? I am glad to report she is doing great and pretty much back to her old self.
mama tigs, loved your OP. It brought back tons of memories from my days in the Tetons. Northern Idaho is gorgeous. I remember as a kid driving along a road that followed a river where the opposite bank was a cliff with hundreds of waterfalls. Fantastic!
fcm, good luck with the children. Don’t be too nice.
nava, my condolences.
Feel better all who aren’t well.
Tupug
Owwwww, that looks painful. Glad to hear she’s doing all right.
My head’s all right. I actually stuck to one kind of alcohol for most of the night, so that might explain the lack of the hangover. I wasn’t drunk until we started playing Fuck the Dealer, in which I got, er, fucked, and then we played a few rounds of mafia, which was pretty fun. The Guy and Minister’s Lad and I were the last ones standing and we ended up having some weird argument over teeth-whitening strips and breast implants. Hey, it made sense at the time.
Victorian Heroine still doesn’t know, and obviously The Guy and I were pretending there was nothing TO know. There were a whole bunch of people there so it wasn’t a big deal.
The weather was so nice yesterday! And now it’s all cold again. Blech.
Good Morning…er…afternoon, everyone.
It was a great long weekend. Hawkeye and I went on a tour of Fenway Park, the home of the Boson Red Sox, yesterday. It was neat to see the stadium, especially from the press box with their comfy seats and lan connections. The tour guide was meh though.
I planned on making BBQ chicken and baked NOT, but we ended up with scrambled eggs because we got back late and didn’t reallly want to cook. I miss going to my Grandma’s for a holiday cook-out. Ah well.
Happy Tuesday everyone!
