I am but only if we can get the opening act gig for Sheep On Drugs

(really depends on the job site how SFW it is)
May have to run down your way for a funeral ------ if I can get the slavedriver to let me have the time. With this being right after vacation and all and not a blood relative I’m being given a lot of grumbles about it.
I was going to volunteer to play acoustic accordion, but **BBBobbio **insulted my instrument, so I shall pout instead.
Nice surprises at the award ceremony. I thought I was just getting a retirement certificate, but I ended up getting a medal (!!) and a certificate of appreciation. That means I had to walk up front THREE TIMES! Twas a nice surprise, tho. And I’m the retiree with the most years heading out the door. The next closest has 34 years.
It’s hot. I don’t feel like cooking. I may let my sweetie take me out. We’ll see how he feels about that.
I read this fast and thought you said you were paying off the car and yarn.
No you would not. It consisted of everyone having a big bowl of Bitch Flakes for breakfast and coming down to take it out on me and Squirrel AGM. I deleted it from my memory as soon as I got off work. Today tried to start that same @#$@ but I put a stop to that. Second shift keeps starting fires for me to put out. See the workplace griping thread for my rants related to same.
Did you name your dog after the TV show? I just started watching Louis CK and he is indeed as funny as I had been told.
RIP Kitty.
I’m really enjoying my afternoon commute. Culinary Boy had to work a double today, so that meant it was Walk Home Day for Spaz. I always come prepared–I have a backpack with a change of clothes and shoes and my mp3 player loaded with listening material. I’ve just refreshed my stash of Wait Wait Don’t Tell me so I got to listen to last week’s show. I learn something every time I listen to it–like the real names of the construction worker and Native American from Village People.
Now I’m gonna go hang out in the rants thread because people were being annoying again today.
Spaz, Indeed Lucky Louie is named after that show.
First call at work today was from another dept. employee that her dog had died and what was she suppossed to do with the body. I guess she called me because i manage a vet clinic as a part of my three facility set.
It is damn near implossible to dig a hole in this rock so I told her to take it to local vet for disposal. my clinic is only staffed by a vet 3 days every other month plus i sell stuff once a week.
Two days in a row with the dead pets:(
Hot, rainy and buggy here. have a great night everyone.
Spaz, I admit I have a lot of yarn, but I have yet to take out a loan to buy some… And I should have said car and truck - we no longer have a van. I’m so confused…
Supper is leftover pasta. **FCD **didn’t want a meal - he was happy with grilled cheese, so I just heated up some leftovers for me.
Speaking of meals, last night, the aquarium denizens got some shrimp for supper. The arrow crab grabbed one. He was sitting at the bottom of the tank clinging to it, and every time a fish swam by, the crab would wave a leg to chase it away. Cracked us up!
Tomorrow is team lunch/cookout. It’s gonna be hotter’n Hades out there. I’m hoping they take lots of water. Even tho the party is partly for me, I’m taking some crackers and a jar of peach preserves, because I’m nice, dammit.
I’ll take the fiddle but i did take one lesson in the 5th grade and hauled it, the stand, books uphill til i couln’t take it anymore. dibs on the violin.
MOOOMMMM–Dammm congrats and thank you for your navy service. we rock.
Thanks, **FedEx **- people badmouth federal employees (there’s a thread about that in another forum) but I can honestly say for the most part, I’ve worked my butt off for the last 37 years. And I know I made a difference in the world. Heck, I may still make a difference, because some of the stuff I did became part of contingency planning.
MOOOOOOM, what is the difference between what I think of as an accordion and an acoustic accordion? I feel like there should be a punchline, but I can’t think of one.
B]mom** i am DOD but at Navy instillation. I lurked here. No, you were in the Navy. You should write a book.
I am short of staff due to pcs, hired new lady; today she got a call for an interview that is GS and pays more. I need to go to the work rant thread, is that in the pit?:smack:p:mad:
I work at a large Army medical center. I’ve worked for three Army commands; FORSCOM, IMCOM, and MEDCOM. I have the most years with MEDCOM.
We have a very large military presence in this state. If I wanted to commute north or across the Narrows, I could work for the Navy too. I choose not to do that; too far to drive with our sucky traffic.
taters. i drive 32 miles each way on a very dangerous hwy but i have the most beautiful view and i am a careful driver. OJT. not like driving for an hour on the freeway with nothing to look at. could be worse.
**donkeybear **- acoustic vs. electric, like guitars, right? I have no idea - I never heard of acoustic accordions, altho my dad did have one that hooked up to an amp. He used to play parties and stuff. It was a feeble attempt at humor.
**FedEx **- OK, which Navy installation - did you tell us and I forgot that? I actually did only 11 years on active duty - the rest of my time is as a GS-7 thru 13 engineer, starting in 1985. Twenty-six years as a side-steppin’ beach creature, divided between NAS Jax and NSWC Dahlgren Division.
Bremerton and Bangor which are over on the Kitsap Penninsula are a lot further than that from my house. The naval stations up north of Seattle are even further from my house.
I work at Joint Base Lewis-McChord which is about 34 miles round trip for me. Still and all, it still takes me an hour, sometimes longer, to get home because our traffic is so awful.
Hmm. Should go to bed, probably. Amazing how a post-work 2 hour nap makes you more energetic!
Dinner was a peach with banana ice cream on top. I am absolutely in love with this ice cream, and of course it’s a “seasonal flavor”. It’s supposed to be like banana cream pie, and even has little crust chunks in it!
Also, a truly mundane poll: what are my obligations to return a shirt to an ex-boyfriend from almost 2 years ago, who both defriended me on facebook and doesn’t talk to me IRL either? I don’t feel particularly attached to it, although he loved the shirt, and at the same time, I am not going to wear it, because it’d be awkward if we saw each other somewhere.

And here I was thinking you played air accordion. The cool kids played air guitar, but us nerds played air accordion or air piano.
I should be going to bed, but that’s an iffy proposition with a screaming sciatic nerve. I’ve finished off the prednisone and I don’t think the stuff has had any discernible effect. Maybe I’ll be lucky with my scan on Thursday, and they’ll find something like the example on their site. Probably nothing that dramatic, but I’ll be happy if they find anything and can have a sensible plan of action.
