Huzzah for productivity!! So far, I’ve re-done 3 of the 4 lost drawings, plus I took care of 2 quickie fixes for Jason. After lunch, I’ll attack the last drawing - it’s a messy one.
One thing I’ve noticed here - the language among the engineers is rather, um profane. I’m not offended by cussing, but I still come from a time and place where profanity isn’t part of normal, non-frustrated/angry conversation. It’s interesting how casually these young engineers toss off 4-letter words. Different times, I guess…
Other than that, just another day in paradise. At least time is moving lots faster today.
I’ve heard lots worse, but it just struck me how casually these younger engineers use such language. I do believe that in ordinary conversation, profanity is a sign of a lazy or uneducated mind.
I remember standing in line behind a couple of young guys who dropped the f-bomb every 3rd or 4th word. They sounded like absolute idiots. If they were trying to impress those around them, well, they made an impression on me, and not a particularly favorable one.
i just finished with accounts payable… now onward to other stuff… i swear this place is like Grand Central Station when one is trying to concentrate and do stuff. Dang fire dept. decided today was a good day to check the alarm system, phone ringing ever 5 seconds, someone knocking on the door. I guess I will have to start working very early or stay late if I want any peace and quiet.
Interesting, FCM. I remember visiting my brother when his kids were just finishing HS and starting college, and the almost casual use of the F-word by all the kids (including my niece) was almost as shocking as their parents indifference to it. Heck, I’m the liberal agnostic here, they are rock-ribbed conservative Lutherens, and I was the one that was nonplused!!
Well, that didn’t last long. I’m done everything that was given to me. I thought the one project from Jason would take longer - it didn’t even take an hour.
Correction - I can work on modeling a part for him. That may take me to the end of the day.
Moooom, I’ve worked among rough and tumble dock workers, factory workers, maintenance guys, truck drivers and engineers most of my career. The language has always been a bit vulgar among the men, but it has just been in the last decade or so that the women have given them a run for their money. I’ve found that the further you get up the food chain, the better people are able to situationally switch.
They’ve taken pictures of my knee and I’ll likely have the results by the end of the day. Meanwhile, heat packs and a brace are making getting around a little easier.
butters, that was a fairly…robust…blurf. Hope it ain’t that bad. Maybe this will give you a grin.
Went out to lunch at Burger King and brought it back to my desk. This was about 2 hours ago. Just a minute or so ago a guy I didn’t know came by my desk and said the lady at the front desk said she thought my car was running!! It sure was, I had left the engine running as I collected my food and simply forgot to turn it off. Fortunately I had enough gas so I can get home and to the gas station, but damn, I’m dumb. Worst thing is that this is the second time in my life I have done this (the other was nearly 15 years ago). Beginning to think I need a new set of brain cells, these are decaying much to rapidly.
METALMOUSEThat was good for a chuckle. Sounds like you were anxious to get inside to eat.
It has been a crazy day here and it’s not over yet. Tonight is our annual Tree Lighting and Winterfest. Santa arrives on the firetruck and he and the CO light the tree and then there are all sorts of activities for the kids to do while waiting in line to see Santa. Santa comes here to my building to get dressed and then awaits the word from my boss when to head around the bend to the event. My job is to make sure Santa and the fire truck know the exact moment he is to arrive there. After that I am done.
I am off to the pubic store now to stock up on pomegranates. Loves me some pomegranates.
Howdy Y’all! The irk week is over! YAY!!! I even have a goooooooood dindin planned. Pot roast (cooked overnight in the slow cooker), N.O.T., carrots, green beans, and cornbread. Oven is pre-heating for cornbread as I post. Plus, Mayfield Turtle Tracks Ice Cream for later! Life is good.
flytrap maybe the eight tiny reindeer are really fire truck transformers.
I reckon I should begin heatin’ stuff up and get the corn bread ready to get all baked up.
Home, mentally fried, and in need of serious relaxitating! I’ve got the comforter in the washer - it’ll hang out on the line all night and all tomorrow. **FCD **doesn’t want to eat, so dunno what I’ll do for supper. Higgs has been fed, so there’s that.
The bracket Jason asked me to model is much more challenging than I’d originally thought - the biggest part has some weird angles and cutouts, and just figuring out certain dimensions has been a challenge. But I was talking to my sweetie and he told me something about the program that I didn’t know, so tomorrow should go lots better. So yay!
I think Jason likes me, but not the kind of like that leads to giving jewelry…
I had mini-bagels and cream cheese for supper. Boring, but I’m not starving, so there’s that.
The comforter has been laundered and is out on the lines. It’ll air and dry all night and all day tomorrow. And Taz has been allowed to live another day… so far.
Someone’s knocking on the door, someone’s ringing the (fire) bell. Is it Paul McCartney?
You did get the check out to SBT Co, right? How else can the Spidey Beer Tasting Co purchase beers to taste & give you recommendations for the NCO Club?
When your town has two interstate exit ramps & one of the few bridges over the river is it really a good idea to close a major road from 4-8 for a tree lighting parade? :smack:
