:o You made me blush! I’m glad you enjoyed the photos.
I really do want to come…maybe something will happen between now and then to make it possible…

This is one we forgot about.
If y’all wanna cook out (hamburgers, dogs, etc.), who among us feels him/herself best qualified? My Dad always did it for us, and I haven’t done it since I was married (about 18 years ago), and if I remember correctly, the only one ever satisfied with my cooking prowess was me, since I like my meat rare!

This is excellent. Mapquest says 3 hours but Mapquest is usually BruceSpeed * 0.5.
Bruce_Daddy are we still maybe considering carpooling?
Quasi, is that 40 bucks per person or just 40 bucks, period?
Forty bucks period, hon.

I don’t see why not!
Cool.
And, OMG Quasi, that is ridiculously cheap!!!
Well, I’m a ridiculously cheap guy, torie.
Put me down for aluminum trays, plates, cutlery, charcoal, cups, ice, soft drinks, chips and uh, other kindsa drinks.

This picture looks like it could be the one you reserved.
I’m so excited!!! This is gonna be fun. I’m gonna think about what I’ll bring food-wise, and let you know, torie.
a question, quasi, the description of the picnic shelters says that some of the shelters have grills…do you know for sure that the one you reserved has at least one?..just askin’!
That ain’t it, earthpuppy. Sorry!

Our shelter does have a grill, and I am looking forward to meeting you and all the others. Let’s try to get a definite head count at least a week and a half prior to the event, so that if we grill out, we waste as little as possible.
Thanks

Ohmygawd! I just looked at the park website, and they have a yurt! I’m gonna see if it’s available for that weekend.
Forgive my ignorance, but, A yurt???
A yurt is a domed dwelling originally used by nomadic mongoloids. Now used as temporary shelters in parks and such.

Sigh I am a ditz sometimes.
Would everyone please start RSVPing me via e-mail if you know for sure you are going? I’d like to get a rough idea of how many people we are talking about. That way, I can tell everyone HOW much food they need to bring.
Apologies to everyone. I should have used Mongolians instead of Mongoloids in my post to torie, who appears not to be as much a ditz as her pal Quasi.
Tell me what the date is again? August 28?
It’s Sunday the 29th
I’d love to attend but I don’t know about hauling my old butt all the way up to Cartersville (isn’t that exit 312 or so on I-75, so about 300 miles or more north of the state borders. One way about 500 miles). I’ll have to see if’n I can get it to coincide with some business in Atlanta or something. Long road trips are for young bucks like Bambi and the Bear. Speaking of bears, maybe you can have the next one of these at Swampbear’s place. I hear tell he has a cement pond. Or an above ground one, either way.
And in the words of The Atlanta Rhythm Section, we are gonna have ourselves “A Large Time!”
Or was that Fiver who wrote those words?
Y’all please write our torie and let her know what you’re bringing, and I will endeavor to starve myself one week prior to the picnic so that I might partake of all your good “vittles” with no guilt!
I hope that we will meet all the fine folks who were at the GeoBills housewarming again! Y’all were terrific, and the conversation was great! Of course, I will miss DoomTrain and Morelin (unless they decide to come down), but we will have a great Sunday afternoon on Red Top Mountain, and if DoomTrain will send me his number in an e-mail, we’ll give them both a call and let them know how much we miss them.
The rest of you South-East (or nationwide) Dopers, remember: this ain’t just for us Georgia “red-necks”. It’s for anyone who wants to attend. If you’re coming from way out of town, send me an e-mail and I’ll help with your accomodations.
“Y’all Come!”
(and bring guitars and other instruments of mass-devastation!)

Aw, if it’s Sunday, Robert probably won’t be able to make it (works Sunday.)
But I should be able to be there.
