Yeah … I suppose North Korea’s been awfully quiet lately. It’s being reported over here but no details really. Hope all the people get rescued at least.
I just got a call (on my work phone… fortunately I was in a meeting so it was just a voicemail) from a recruiter with an opportunity either for me or for anyone I might know. But my company’s still hiring so I certainly wouldn’t give away any contacts I had (which I don’t). Do I need to call the recruiter back at all? I really feel like blowing him off. My job’s secure and I don’t think I’m going to need his services any time soon. But I don’t want to wake up one day in 3 years, ready to pursue a new opportunity and find I’m blacklisted throughout the Cities 'cause I ignored this guy.
If you didn’t go to the headhunter first, you don’t owe them a thing. They’re fishing for new people.
I took 3 hours off today, then took my sweetie to lunch. Yay for that!
Plus I came home to light in the hall bathroom! The sun tube is installed, and even tho it’s rainy and dreary, the bathroom and hallway are bright and lit up. I think it’s bright enough that I can put a plant or two into the bathroom. So yay for that!
All that’s left now are the gutters, which obviously won’t be installed while it’s raining. But maybe tomorrow? That would be great. Then I just have to write one last big-ass check to the contractor. Plans for tomorrow also include putting up the railing around the back deck, and maybe moving some azaleas. If not, I can move the azaleas on Sunday before the rain returns. Then they’ll get soaked in real good, so yay! I also need to lay some landscape cloth on the ground under the steps then cover it with gravel to keep stuff from growing back there. We’ve got a rock place just a few miles from home and we can get some granite lumps cheap.
Meanwhile, I’ve got laundry washing and the hunk o’leftover poke simmering in some BBQ sauce for future sammiches. It’s a good day at FairyChatEstates!
OK, thanks for the reassurance. I don’t want to hurt any future chances when I might be interested in a job, but right now I don’t want to support their fishing expedition.
I really want a sun tube for our bathroom, too, FCM. We’d have to convince the HOA, but KT’s VP of the HOA so that shouldn’t be too big a deal. They’re pretty laid back about changes to individual units as long as it’s not too wild or crazy, which the top of the light tube wouldn’t be. So we’ll see. Maybe in another year or two. I’m glad to hear that you really like yours. I’d love to have plants growing in the bathroom!
After a pretty dull last day and a half, I’ve actually got work to do! Gotta run!
Howdy Y’all! Quick driveby. Gotta get over to the churchhouse to cook up some fish 'n chips.
Later!
I want fish-n-chips…
I want Souvlaki and Lemon-Rice soup and french fries!
I want molten chocolate baby cakes!
I want a million dollars and a glass of chocolate milk!
That looks yummy, Taters. I just had a couple of crescent roll tuna melts. And 1/2 a grapefruit. Need some chocolate, I think.
Also, gotta go get a few things at the grocery. I’ve got a whole day of garden stuff tomorrow and need to pack a lunch. (Well, I could pay $10 for a box lunch, but I’m likely to prefer my own.)
I wouldn’t call them back either, taxi.
I woke up to snow, too. It’s pretty much all melted now. Only spots left are ones where it’s really shady. It’s supposed to be cold again tonight, but back up in the 50s tomorrow. Very odd.
Off to run errands.
Hugs.

I promise tomorrow I will go back and read over all the posts that I didn’t read today. Y’all remind me, ok? Oh yeah, open up that can of worms right?
Sneakin’ in a pre beddy bye post to say fish ‘n chips was a resounding success. I made an announcement that no one could leave until everything was eaten and they took me seriously. Not a single scrap left. Hee! Plus I got brownie points tonight for makin’ sure YP’s wife had a beer to drink with her fish ‘n chips. I really did save that beer just for her. Yeah, the cooks were supplied with “fuel” so that we would have the energy to cook. Reason number one bajillion why I love bein’ a Whiskypalian.
And on that note, off to beddy bye.
Nitey Nite Y’all!
Back from Lowe’s - their cover charge is way too high! But we got all the railing stuff, the last few deck boards, and new outside lights for the front porch, the garage, and the back deck. Tomorrow’s gonna be a busy day!
**FCD **got bit by one of his fish - and he’s being such a baby about it! He reached in to move a rock and the big puffer nipped his finger. Whine whine whine!!!
And I already love my new windows. It’s very cold outside, but the triple panes mean the inside pane isn’t cold - it’s not even cool! Me so happy!!!
In addition to Souvlaki and soup, they were giving away free chocolate cake! Who could turn down a free piece of chocolate cake??? Certainly not me!
Free chocolate cake? Yum.
Back from Target and grocery. Spent more than 1/2 of my Target cover charge on chocolate. The other part on dish detergent.
I arrived at the grocery store after the neighborhood’s evening excitement had pretty much ended. I’d seen EMTs at the little shop on the corner of our main drag as I was heading to Target. Thought it was odd that there were two ambulances. Turns out someone had slammed their way through the grocery store parking lot (took out a couple of cars and part of a pop machine, apparently). Then they crossed the street and slammed into the back of the corner store. Sounds like maybe only the driver was hurt, thank goodness. But still: :eek::eek: One of the car owners was still in the grocery while I was checking out, waiting to see if he could get access to the video from the parking lot.
Should be thinking about falling asleep; gotta be up early for the gardening extravaganza.
Happy Friday night, all.

Government isn’t saying whether it’s North Korea or not.
I am so annoyed. I just discovered I booked my flight back to London out of Dallas Love Field instead of Dallas Forth Worth. PAIN IN ASS, since I’ll be flying out of Philly to DFW - so now I have to find a quick way to get from DFW to Dallas Love Field. That is going to be a long day: NYC - Philly - DAL - DFW - LHR. Lovely.
I wanna go to Finland!
Bummer, Haze. Can you rebook?
I have found one from DFW that is only $50 more than the ticket I have. Unfortunately Korean UA offices are not open on the weekends and apparently there is only one more ticket left at that fare. I’ll have to try my luck on Monday morning. Otherwise I’d have to pay $150 at least. Argh.
Totally my fault for not being more meticulous though. But WHY would they include that fare when I specifically searched for DFW and didn’t click the box for “nearby airports”???
