Administrivia in the MMP

I’m awake, might as well get things going.

Big worry this week is organizing my workspace (would help if I knew what I’ll need to do here in a bit more detail!), possibly setting up a second computer once I’m more confident of needed hardware/software, and getting a report requested from the Social Security people for DH so he can apply for the exam for journeyman electrician. Bonus points for him not really wanting to deal with bureaucracy or a crowded office that will require him to wear a mask (he’s a touch claustrophobic and a bit grossed out by moisture and such being trapped against his face). I expect to be contacted by a supervisor sometime this week, per email the HR people sent. I’ve already sent them back the paperwork they requested. Still gotta cope with living room reconfiguration, which will require DH’s participation, between figuring out running network cables around and the limits on what furniture moving my back will tolerate.

At least we’ve got COBRA sorted out. A bit expensive, but copeable until my coverage kicks in in May (hopefully, they’ll offer Kaiser, but I don’t know yet). Also got my jury duty that was supposed to be the week following my start date postponed to June. Still also gotta check up on DH’s UI claim.

I’m sure more will occur to me, it’s going to be that kind of week.

Hope everyone has a calmer week than I’m going to, and hijack away!

First! It’s good to be juvenile!

Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffeinatin’. YAWN ‘Tis 62 Amurrkin out and cloudy with a predicted high of 81 and mostly cloudy for the day. Cleaner comes this mornin’ to spiff da cave, so that will be good. Since it’s been so warm here as of late, da cave yahd needs some attention. As much as I am loathe to do so, I need to mow and do some general cleanup/spiff up stuff. So, that shall be on the agenda this week. Le sigh. This will cut into my sloth time, which I find highly objectionable! Sup shall be grilled poke chops, peas 'n carrots, garlic smashed N.O.T. and rolls. At least that will be good.

Nettie I think it’s worth sayin’ conga rats again on the new gig. Hope you get everything situated this week.

Now I need more caffeine and to feed rumbly tummy. Then, onward into the day! Rah.

Happy Moanday Y’all!

I frequently say men never do grow up.

Hey, I have to grow older, but I don’t have to grow up!

My husband takes a similar view.

It’s 5:30 am and raining. I still have a fever. Drinking lots of fluids and taking Tylenol.

From the last MMP:

It’s a dye and it indicates fuel that wasn’t taxed for highway use. TPTB don’t want you driving your truck without paying your fair share for road upkeep, so if somehow you’re caught using untaxed fuel, you’s in biiiiiig trubble!! It’s always about money, isn’t it?

I bought a bench/shoe rack that sits at the end of our bed, and Higgs will use that (on the rare occasions when she gets in our room.)

And to the present:

I keep reminding FCD that we need to get our mower to Amish Dave to be serviced before the season starts. We’re getting close due to all the warmth… And I won’t talk about my garden beds. ugh.

Looks like the day is starting relatively clear, but rain is promised this evening. Roofing guy is due this morning - hope his estimate isn’t too awful. I’m terrified of FCD climbing up there.

Speaking of whom - he goes to his grief counseling session today. On the way to his mom’s yesterday (to drop off some meds we picked up for her) we found the Hospice facility where he has to go. Good thing we drove there - he’d have probably gotten lost. Anyway, as long as he doesn’t drive past the turnoff, he’ll be good - once off the main road, it’s almost impossible not to find the place. I hope they can help him.

And when he’s done, we’ll head back to the boat to see how it fared overnight - specifically fuel leakage. And that’s all I’m going to say about that, lest I bore one and all with our nautical tales of woe. You’re welcome.

I did launder the diesel-splashed clothes last night, and the whole load still carried the smell. So I spread all the jeans and shirts around the basement to air overnight - I need to check them. If it’s bad, I’ll rewash. Wish I could hang them out but with rain threatening, I dare not.

So, yeah, another exciting day at FairyChatEstates. I’ll probably push the vacuum around too - be still my over-taxed heart!!

Happy Moanday!!

Howdy all! Happy Moanday!!I know everyone is excited for a new workweek. Except us retired drains in society. We don’t care.

Plans for the week and day include cleaning of the house and laundry as usual. I am also going to plant some more tomato seeds. The few I planted a while back have done well with little tiny maters already. Our homegrown collards were extra tasty. Also extra tasty was the peach cobbler after dinner.

It’s hot here already. Y’all stay safe. Feel better soonest Wet One.

Mornin, all. Up and atom, off to the shop to do some good. It’ll be a bit of a complex week, as I have obligations at multiple places this week. I suppose it’s good to be needed.

Have a good one, all!

I do not know where you live but in my state that exam was really tough. I hope he has good luck

He’s already nervous, but the trade school he went to when he qualified as a trainee does have exam prep classes, and he’s actually quite intelligent. I think he’ll do better than he seems to think he will, if he calms down a bit. We’re in California.

Afternoon, mumpers! It’s 6c/43f with a predicted high of 7c/44f, and mostly cloudy. Weather app says “Mild cloudy days are the best days for fantasising about your fucking coworkers. I’m going to hell.” I am more likely to fantasise about my cow-irkers going to hell, to be honest.

I totally missed the last three days in the last MMP, life just got away from me. Anyway, I am all ready to get ahead of the game today!

Seanette congrats on the new job! I hope it works out well for you and you manage to sort out the working arrangements with DH.

** swampy** now that you have someone to come and spiff the cave, you need to get someone to do the mowage for you, just so that you can maximise your sloth time.

WetOne I hope you feel better soon, fluids and pills sounds like a good way to go.

Mooooom I don’t know about marine fuel, but we have red diesel here for agricultural machinery. There are occasional flurries of testing that catches people driving away from farms with the wrong colour fuel in the tank.

Busy week coming up for me and I’ve had to swap some of my work from home days. I’m in the office today and will now be working from home for the next two days, then the last two days of the week I’ll be on campus again. I need to be here on Thursday 'cos I’ve got an interview for the secondment in the History dept, and on Friday we only have one person who’s going to be in the office all day, so it’s better than I come in then to provide some extra cover.

Morning all. 63F early and getting into the 70’s later, so if we dodge the 25% chance of rain it should be nice and dry here (at least until Thorsday). For Administrivia, I have a HVAC appointment this afternoon (all they could tell me was between 12-5) so swimmin’-n-sauna may be delayed some. Otherwise it’s sloth and sorting through my pictures from my Feb trip. Did look at my checking account and it’s all balanced, so that’s one more thing done.

From the last MMP, {{nellie}}, sorry for the loss of your friend.

Seanette, happy that you are starting irk again and hope hubby does well on his tests; I’m a big pessimist when it comes to tests too, but once it is in front of me and I get started, I seem to do pretty well, hope the same is true of DH.

boo fae, nothing but good vibes on the interview.

VanGo, may all your obligations be easy.

Butters, mmmm, tomatoes…

FCM, fingers crossed on a reasonable roofing estimate. And I hope the session is of help to FCD.

OK, need to check my Moanday on-line comics and be about the day. Ally’all have a good week now…

It may well be the same here as it’s definitely an agricultural county. So I’m guessing red diesel is non-road use universally.

Well, one more bite of the poop sammich - yesterday, FCD’s phone fell out of his pocket into the terlit. He dried it off, and it seemed to be working OK, but this morning, it’s dead dead dead. So we pulled the SIM card and he’s on his way to get a new phone. I hope he controls himself - he always wants the newest and shiniest and I really don’t like the idea of weighing down our VISA now that it’s getting under control. But he needs a phone and I can’t go with him to control his impulses, so we’ll just see. Dammit.

Worst part is he may have lost a lot of info - I don’t know if he kept his contacts on the SIM or not. But that’s for him to deal with. Anyway, it’s a sucky Moanday here.

I just finished a quick vacuum over the main traffic areas. Waiting for the roof estimate guy to call - I’m hoping it won’t be obscenely expensive, but I don’t want FCD climbing up there, so we’re kinda stuck. Fingers crossed…

I haven’t either but, unfortunately, I can’t use that excuse. LOL

Guess who didn’t save his contacts on his SIM… go ahead - guess! But he has a replacement phone, so that’s good. And the roof guy has come and gone - he’ll get back to me with an estimate later today or tomorrow.

Chillage time for a while.

Last time I switched phones, once I had my Google account registered, they restored all that for me. I’m pretty sure Apple can do something similar, if that applies in this case.

Reasonable heave for a Monday, although they have started doing the layoff thing with the drivers. I suspect corporate treachery. Anyways, naptime. I wonder what madcap zany adventures my subconcious will have today?

Good luck on the home office, nettie, and : fingers crossed : for DH

Google, and possibly the phone maker might have the data in The CloudTM if he set it up to back things up(saved my bacon a time or 2)

Feel better, WetOne

Bosses.

For the moment my temp is back to normal. Fortunately there is a Law & Order marathon (original, not that SVU). I never watched it during the initial run, but now I’m hooked on it.

Congrats on the job, Seanette!

I hope you feel better soon, wetone.

I did a dumb thing this morning and managed to get the snot beaten out of me by a trashcan lid. This is why you don’t go out for a waddle when there are hurricane-force winds. I stopped to help someone whose recycling bin was escaping and the lid whipped up from a particularly strong gust of wind and slammed me hard in the left side of my face, hard enough to leave a good-sized mark. It hurts even when I don’t touch it, but I can’t stop snickering about it. I’m pretty sure I’m not concussed but it does remind me of the time I got lanced by a stingray and wouldn’t stop insisting I was fine until it got infected a week later.

Anyway, hope you guys had a better morning than that.
