Administrivia in the MMP

My dad emailed a little while ago to ask if I had a copy of the program from his mother’s funeral — nope (it was in 1997 and before I even owned a computer, let alone a scanner) — and when I replied I told him about being ready to go north if/when needed. He shared that the plan seems to be that the funeral home will collect my uncle’s body, cremate him, and send the cremains to my dad; then, there will be a funeral and interment sometime in mid-to-late April. It will be a little warmer then, and the delay will help the two siblings who’ll need to buy plane tickets. I’m glad there will be plenty of time to make plans/reservations.

:joy:  :joy:

Do NOT encourage him!!!

I am so going to steal that! Cracking up!!!

The storm moved in last night and we woke up to snow falling and 4 inches on the ground with drifts against the fence. It was still snowing and the wind was blowing and there was snow in the catio and it was snowing in the catio and GG was in the catio and it was all just too much fun for one cat so he kept running inside and yammering at us before running back out to attack the falling snow again.

He’s only going to be a kitten once, we let him have his fun and cleaned up the big wet smeary footprints at least a dozen times before he wore hisself out.

I would happily attend a goat conference, I think goats are way cool.

swampy, when it snows, the front steps usually ice up and the landing for the ramp turns into a mud pit cause hubs hasn’t managed to arrange for a load of river rock like he said he was going to do last winter. If the snow sticks, the steps get icy, so it’s best to sweep the steps clear while the snow is falling so we don’t slip and break our necks on them because we can’t use the ramp due to the lack of a ton of rock.

You better believe I waited until he was stretched out in his recliner for a nap before verbally worrying about icy steps and putting boots and jacket on and going out to sweep. How’s that for getting on each other’s nerves?

Yeah, I could arrange for the dump truck, but where’s the fun in that?

Evening all. The pills worked some, I did have a most satisfactory poop around noon, now we’ll see if it’s recalibrated my system or not. FCM, I’ll take your advice and try to drink more water, but the rest of my diet hasn’t changed much, so I am still somewhat puzzled. Ah well, it’ll all come out in the end…

No rain yet, but tomorrow morning is supposed to be stormy, so just as well I was able to get to the gym and get some exercise in today. Cheeseburgers for dinner, used up the last tomato so need to acquire one for tomorrow’s Big Bowl O’Sallit.

Oopsie, sounds like your dad has a good handle on things. Sad about the uncle, me turning 70 here soon does make me aware that I’m playing against the odds from now on and need to keep taking care of myself. As for sleeping, I usually go to bed around 11am but when I wake up seems to be a ‘whenever’ thing; sometime 5am, sometime 9am and anywhere in-between.

Wet one, sounds like a barnyard in there…

Cookie, goat herder is an interesting career move…but if it helps put some money in his teenage pocket and does good for the environment, I’m all for it. Would like to see the agenda for a goat conference…

CatGlove, I am in North Ali-bama, not far from the Tennessee border, and yeah, we take tornado weather very seriously down here. Tomorrow morning is supposed to be nasty, woulnd’t be surprised if the siren goes off again.

Well, if I drank coffee and/or smoked (neither of which I have done in my entire life) I would try that…

OK, finally finished posting all the travel photos I’m going to post on Facebook, so need to find something else to distract me. All y’all take care.

Took the roommate in for shoulder surgery today. No drama in the surgery itself. the waiting room was another matter. There was a young boy in for some sort of surgery. Mom brought a couple of other kids, in violation of hospital policy, and got bent out of shape about it, and security had to be called. Then the young man stole and ate a nurse’s lunch, which meant the surgery had to be postponed. And security was called. He also tried to eat several crayons Then his surgery had to be cancelled, and Security had to be called again To be fair the kid was friendly, and it’s hard to explain to a 7 year old why he can’t eat for 12 hours.
Also:
Anesthesiologist: “the nerve block will leave you unable to feel or move the arm.”
Roommate: < whines about things >
Me: “Can you do a nerve block on that jaw, too?”
Anesthesiologist: “Are you sure you’re not related?”

Set off some C-4 in the bilge and clain “U-boat torpedo attack” on the insurance form?

Political commentator.

I feel your pain. People need to trade in more phones, so we can both eat.

that’s a long nap…

PM of course…I am not doggio

Ugh, the cable woes. I spent about 3 hours going through the pile of random cables that were occupying a few tables (like 6’ x8") in the shop I’ve been working in. I turned it into 11 sorted bins of labeled cables. And delightedly throwing away random crap. There are still no HDMI cords in the place.
At least the purge emptied out several tables and a couple of carts, so now we’ve got more space to work.

doggio Couldn’t you just have lied and gotten the kid jabbed in the jaw? Prolly would have made everyone’s life easier…

I feel your pain. I’m being forced to retire because of a progressive medical condition. I can’t hork gear around anymore. Even if I were I were in perfect health the biz has change so much that pretty much everything I know how to do has become irrelevant. I’ve made a valiant attempt to up with the technology but it’s about time to hang it up.

I used to read the trade mags and drool over the gear ads. I’ve gotten to the point were I no longer care about the latest and greatest.

I’ve been doing broadcast and corporate A/V production and installs for the past 38 years. I’ve accumulated SO much stuff. Got many road cases full of XLRs, data, video cables and associated stuff. I’ve got 2-3 year old digital gear that is already obsolete. Got racks full of perfectly serviceable analog gear. Specialized tools and test equipment. Nearly all of it is in near mint condition because I took care of my stuff. But I don’t have anything that would be considered collectable. Nearly all of it is obsolete and worthless today.

Can’t really sell it online because shipping costs would be more than the gear is worth. I’m in the middle of nowhere, I doubt anybody is gonna drive from “the big city” to pick up something that is too expensive to ship.

It pains me to think that my business and much of my life is going to end up in a dumpster and I’m going to have to pay someone large dollars to haul it all away.

But due to my OCD, most of my cables are labeled and well organized. I’ll know exactly what I’m throwing into the dumpster.

Up, caffeinated, and sheveled Off to heave.

It was discussed.

Outstanding!

Hey, y’all. I’ll catch up wirh you soon but want to let you know I’m thinking about you.

Just popped in to say that…yay! The 4-month secondment is mine!

Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffeinatin’. YAWN* ‘Tis 66 Amurrkin out and cloudy with a predicted high of 81 and mostly cloudy with a WIND ADVISORY in effect for the day. No plans at all for the day except goin’ to the good place for some catfish for N.O.L. Both of us have a gnawin’ and a cravin’ for fried catfish. No candle duty, bein’ as it is Lent and there are a grand total of two candles that need to be dealt with. This can be accomplished easy-peasy on Sunday mornin’ before deheathenization.

BooFae YAY! I gathered you really wanted to make that move.

MetalMouse glad things are ummm… movin’ on for ya.

Now I need more caffeine and to feed rumbly tummy. Then, onward into the day! Rah.

Happy Firday Y’all!

Regarding miscellaneous cables - does no one recycle them? Copper is stoopit expensive and cables are full of it, right? There’s a part of me that hates throwing things away, altho I recognize that in some cases, it’s more expensive to recycle than reuse, but still… Haul them all to Best Buy! [/end lecture]

I think I had a pretty good night - all the way till 6AM with only one potty break! I’ve tended the critters and I’m caffeinating. When FCD wakes and we’re both showered and dressed, we’re going out for breakfast, then to his mom’s to pick up the insurance check (FINALLY!!!) and deposit it in a CD. She’s still waiting for the refund of the balance of their homeowner’s policy plus another check from cashing in a small life insurance policy. They’d bought some policies that they’d been paying into forever - I’m pretty sure they paid in more than the face value of the policies. And now the insurance company has been fighting them to cash them out. Feels scammy to me.

ANYWAY, apart from that, I don’t know what we’ll do today. It’s supposed to be rainy and chilly all day. ick. While we’re out and about, I’m going to run into Aldi since we need bread and cat treats.

Supper will be sirloin sous vide and the last of the twice-baked spuds. I guess that’s my day. So far.

Happy Firday!!

Good morning everyone.

It’s currently 36 degrees and dark outside with an expected high of around 43 degrees. All the different forms of moisture are supposed to start falling from the sky starting later this morning. That moisture includes occasional bouts of snow or snow/sleet mix. None will stick of course.

boofae, congrats on the job!

When I did the big purge, we threw away so many cables. Best Buy didn’t want them, so they all went into the dumpster that I rented. I’m pleased to say we have not accumulated more than we need, but I’m always on the lookout because I don’t want to accumulate anything that is not being used or doesn’t have value.

Thank goodness it’s finally Friday. It’s my so-called short day, but I will probably end up working late.

Oopsie, I’m sorry about your uncle, but am glad your Dad has a good handle on things.

Sleep has been elusive for me, as always. I’m hoping to catch up this weekend, but I never do.

Time to finish my coffee and get the dishwasher loaded. I hope you all have a terrific day!

Many communities have an electronics recycling/refurbishing place. That’s where I’d take old printers, cables, plugs, etc.

That was funny about GG and the big snow JtC. Being a Maine Coon, he should be in kitteh heaven out there.

doggio, I’m with you about trade ins. We got rid of Brown’s competitor.a couple of years back, so they make two outbound pickups a day at irk. Incoming tends to come via USPS and inbound everything else varies.

Up, caffeinating, breakfasted, bed stripped, sheets / towels in the dryer, jeans in the wash and everything else on deck. Shortly, I’ll do KP and start houseirk. Such excitement!

Stay safe and healthy y’all!

Morning all. Awaiting the storm that is due to pass through here in about an hour or so, on the radar map it looks bad but should be over relatively quickly and the afternoon will be clear. Outside of the usual gym visit nothing much on the schedule, so some sloth is probably my basic plan.

Thanks for the morning grin.

OK, onward into the day. Take care all.

Hooray! :confetti_ball::tada::clap:t3::clap:t3::clap:t3::clap:t3::confetti_ball::tada:

Happy Friday!

It is a happy day!

Ripple went to the oncologist today and the tumors in his leg are gone.
The tumors in his chest and his lymph nodes are half the size they were.
His white blood count is off, so he has to skip Palladia for a week, then he will go on a lower dose.
The doctor said he could see the difference as soon as he saw Ripple.
He was smiling telling me the news, I feel so much better.
Ripple was a good boy, they said he was exceptionally well behaved.

Yay, Ripple!
