Morning all. It started raining hard last night around 10pm, with thunder and lightning mixed in with a tornado warning siren, but I am still here–and it is still raining and will be until this afternoon according to the Weather Wizards. So a good reason to be inside.
Still very constipated so took some pills (Colace) that’s supposed to work in 6-12 hours. Will try them for a couple of days and if not back to normal will probably go see the doctor. Not feeling ill or anything, but I don’t want it to become anything serious.
And that’s quite enough on that subject. Should get the last pictures from my trip on the Book of Faces today.
FCM, Ouch!! on the potential boat repair.
nellie, did a check on caffeine and yes, Diet Pepsi and Pepsi Zero both have it, but they ain’t doing the stimulation bit. My diet is about the same as it always has been, so I am well and truly puzzled. And your description of sleepovers had me smiling. And boys have nights out, but slumber parties are for “girls”…
Morty, perfect rejoinder.
Boo fae, best luck with the interview; I never liked them much either, but no one seems to have thought of a better way after all these years. Hope you get the job anyway.
Ok, need to forage for sustenance and get on with the day, such as it is. All y’all take care.
Are you drinking water? Being well-hydrated can make a difference, and sodas can be dehydrating. Just a thought from someone who doesn’t play a doctor on TV…
Tobias and I are just back from a grocery run. I didn’t get a lot, but it killed about an hour, which is always good with him. He’s pounding on the piano at the moment and I’m counting down to nap time. FCD has gone to the boat. The rain has stopped and I’m hoping we’ll get sun soon - it’ll dry the playground and I can take the kids there later.
For now, tho, wranglin’ continues. Two hours to nap time.
Good morning All. We’re over the Hump. I’m planning to go to the Fitness Center and workout; it’s been a week, too long and my knee was feeling it yesterday. Then I have a meeting with Asst Director and new Asst Supervisor. Spartan women have a B1G tourney game early afternoon so I hope the meeting is short.
Yesterday Hubs mentioned that there is still a 1/2 lb of ground cow left from the cheeseburgers he made on Sunday and suggested spaghetti. I wasn’t feeling it but said I’d figure something out. A friend recently gave me a piece of Million Dollar Spaghetti Casserole which was decent so I googled it and found about half dozen recipes; chose one and made it with my revisions for our preferences (used penne and rigatoni instead of spaghetti and added Italian seasoning and oregano, neither of which were called for in recipe); turned out great, even Hubs was impressed.
yanker good that it looks like you’re starting to see the end of the tunnel (received $$$ from ins co and PT helping); just be sure it’s not a train coming from the opposite direction.
I like this. I’ve always called it keeping the balls in the air and not letting any hit the ground.
Rocky or Cookie I have several items that need to be glued back together. One teacup says ‘bone china made in England’ on the bottom. Would this be porcelain or ceramic? What would you recommend I use to put back together? (Not planning to use it again, just for display purposes and sentimental reasons-belonged to my mother)
AMEN! You said this much more diplomatically than I would have.
Howdy Y’all! As stated earlier, we are doin’ some serious honin’ of our sloth skills today. Nappage has been completed. Up next is day drinkin’. Then sup shall get fixed and et. Since turnin’ on the oven, puttin’ sump’n in said oven, and rememberin’ to take it out of the oven before it burns counts as cookin’, then I am makin’ lasagna. Seems only right to me!
Back from working out and meeting.
Only had time for 40 minutes of NuStep then went to meeting which was 39 minutes so I’m home and watching the DVR of the Spartan women who are playing the Cornhusker women.
Spartans came out inspired, turned over the Cornhuskers 4 times in their first 4 possessions. At the end of the first quarter the Spartans were up by 6… We’ll see how it goes from here.
Please be very careful. I’m not exactly sure where you are in 'Bama but it seems that part of the country, well maybe Arky and Oky more so, get a lot of destructive tornados. So, please take care! In re the constipation, Hubs gets it each time he goes for chemo, he takes metamucil which works well.
The dawter is coming for a visit and some Mexican food this weekend. My grandson won’t be coming, as he is at a goat conference. Yes, a goat conference. I didn’t even know he had horns.
The power is going to be out next Tuesday from 08:00 to 14:00 so the power company can replace a pole by our driveway. I reported it a couple/three years ago to tell them it looked like it was rotting. They sent an engineer to poke it with a tool, and he said it was fine. The guy today scoffed about engineers when I told him that.
I’ll be in Burien Tuesday, but Wifey, RN will be here until she leaves to see patients. Since she works before she leaves, that’s going to cramp her style.
There are goats in the barn where Ariel lives. It is birthin time so several soon to be mamas are, creating a helluva racket. Then the mama sheep join in. And there is an evil free range rooster that attacked me and my friend yesterday. It is like Animal Farm out there.
Kids have been returned to their mom. The silence is wonderful! Tobias loves yelling at the playground - his mom can hear him all the way across the parade field when she leaves school His voice is piercing!
Chillage is on the evening agenda. And, I hope, sleeping in…
Tuesday night I slept terribly, which isn’t like me. I went to bed and started reading at 10:30pm: normally I’m only good for 20 minutes or so, but I wound up finishing the book…and was amazed to see that it was after 12:30am! I wasn’t sleepy, and when I was still awake an hour later I decided to get up. By then I needed to pee, plus I decided that food would help: I ate a banana and a protein bar, and went back to bed with The Big Bang Theory playing on my iPad. I finally fell asleep about 25 minutes later, and then suddenly woke up a good hour before my alarm was set for. *sigh* Needless to say, yesterday my brain was quite mushy! I went to bed early last night and seemed to have slept well; I feel fine today. <channeling nellie> Brains be weird. <\channeling nellie>
I think I mentioned a few MMPs ago that one of my uncles, my dad’s big brother, isn’t doing well (I was feeling guilty about being annoyed that his death could have messed up my jazz festival plans). He’s been in the ICU since late January, and yesterday morning he got moved to the hospital’s hospice/palliative care ward: he’s in multiple organ failure, he pulled his nasal feeding tube out and refuses to let them reinsert it (and they can’t insert one surgically), and basically he has indicated to the staff that he is now DNR. He was taken off ventilator support, and they’ve stopped dialysis. We’re all frankly surprised he made it through the night; I don’t expect him to see Monday. His 76th birthday is a week from today.
When he finally passes, it won’t really be a personal loss for me. We aren’t close: his lifelong mental health issues prevented much of a relationship, and I can’t remember ever even having a conversation with him. But I’m sad for my father and his four other siblings. I’m a Hilton Honors member and have identified a Homewood Suites near the family cemetery, and I can go to NJ at any time if Dad winds up wanting help with any logistics (I’ll get 3 days of bereavement leave from my company, and could also work from the hotel if needed).
The waiting sucks. I remember this from when my mom died: we finally decided to remove her life support, and then just had to wait (but she was comatose and died within 24 hours). I don’t think my uncle will hang in there for much longer. I just hope they really are keeping a close eye on his comfort, because at this point he’s had no nutrition for a few days and starvation is no way for anyone to go.
Well, you’re having quite a week…
Good for you! A year is plenty of notice; she’ll figure something else out.
Homophobia.
Seriously. Boys aren’t inherently homophobic, but fathers traditionally were.
Howdy Y’all! We have supped and cleanded up the kitchen. Now we continue to chill.
GodBod I am a retired old fart/grumpy old man. I do both in style! Imagine two old farts/grumpy old men who have been together forever and take great delight on gettin’ on each other’s nerves. That’s us!
Cookie I would imagine goats need to get together from time to time to discuss the latest trends in stuff like head buttin’ and other goat things. How else do they keep up?
Oopsie glad you had a better night’s sleep last night. Sorry about your uncle. Even though you are not close to him, still he’s family. Hope his passin’ is peaceful and soon.
Howdy all. Spaghetti and garlic bread was supper. I haven’t felt well today at all. Didn’t get much sleep last night but I was up early and refused to allow myself a nap. Hopefully tonight will be a full night of much needed sleep.
The pollen storm has commenced here too and it doesn’t take much to set me off so I am all sinusy too.
It was 90F today. Much too early. We had all of two days of winter around Christmas. I am not looking forward to summer already.
Had the yard man here today. It was getting shaggy. It’s much better now.
Madonn’. Why did I start reorganizing? I started with a cupboard, but then I realized I needed to move some stuff to a closet. No room in the closet, so I’m reorganizing that. But then I have to find space in yet another closet.
Then I didn’t realize I hadn’t clicked on the final Submit thingie on Instacart, so now my order won’t get here until it’s too late for the gym. I did 7.5 miles walking yesterday, but that doesn’t give me carte blanche today.
Misnomer, I think I accidentally stole your sleep. I was literally out when my head hit the pillow and slept straight through. Sorry. I’ll send the sandman over with extra sleep tonight.
I’m also sorry about your uncle. It’s hard to know a parent is grieving.
Oo! A future teacher or an opera singer?
cookie, the goats had ME laughing! What do people do at a goat conference? Can the bring their kids if they also bring nannies?
oopsie, even as an auxillary mourner, the death watch is still stressful. Being the support system for the primary mourners is an important position. Hugs to you all.
We were dismissed a couple of hours early again today for lack of irk. While the time off is nice, it hurts come payday. Today wasn’t nearly as pretty as the last two were, so no dog park. Instead, the little beast has cuddled in my arms whenever I wasn’t irking in teh studio.
Full disclosure: the boy works for a company that rents out goats to clean up overgrown areas. Goats will eat most anything that grows and are great for getting rid of plants that can be toxic to humans, or are just invasive. He really likes the job (he’s in middle school) and the animals, and the extra jingle in his pocket doesn’t suck, either.
Oh yeah, the resident pig is TuTu but she doesn’t wander around or make noise. I should explain the barn has a traveling petting zoo for birthday parties, etc. The animals are well taken care of.
