Administrivia in the MMP

Happy Hump Day!

No daycare today as Ripple goes to the oncologist Friday and I’ll put Echo and Cerby in daycare then.
We didn’t go to the park either as I slept through several alarms.
I missed seeing Bandit, who seldom comes anymore.
Bandit is a big sweet Rottie. The first time he came to the park, Echo went after him and chased the big wussie into the trees.

I wanted to go to bed early last night, but Cerby was being an asshole and wouldn’t come in. When he finally came in, he knew I was pissed. He scurried past me and ran upstairs to bed before I could give him his pills.
My son got off at 230, and he had to call me 11 times before the phone woke me at 250. By the time I got home it was almost 4.
It’s no wonder I slept through the alarms.

I looked at the map and saw where I made the mistake in the directions last time we went to the oncologist. I stayed on Rt 15 instead of taking the bypass. Downtown Leesburg is very nice, but in the wrong direction. I hope we don’t get lost this time.

Found out my parking lot friend has cancer in her bones. Two of her sons irk with my son, and they don’t drive either. Well, now they are going to have to start driving because she is probably not going to be able to for much longer. She has to be careful because her bones are fragile. I hadn’t seen her for a bit and I was thinking about her.
She said her sons have really stepped up to help her. I’m glad to hear it. My son does so much to help out around the house, I’m always surprised when other sons who are living at home don’t do the same.
Well, her sons are now.

I finally got Cerby in tonight. So I’m going to bed early.

Oh, forgot to tell you JtC, my son made the cinnamon rolls from a can. Pillsbury. They were on sale so I bought two cans of each kind.

Evening all. Got swimming and sauna in and then stopped at Kroger for a couple of laxative/stool softeners, which I’ll employ tomorrow if my bowels haven’t heard my threats by then… Rain is due to start shortly and the thunder and lightning will be along just about at bedtime, so have that to look forward to. Should get another set of pictures from my trip up tonight, one more big packet tomorrow and it should be done. Outside of that nothing much planned.

JtC, can sympathize with your husband, the cabinets above my washer/dryer are filled with random cables and such, probably should see if they can be donated or otherwise disposed of (Best Buy looks like my best bet). And giving FWT a measure of dignity says much about you (and it’s all good).

flyboy, your wife has a wicked sense of humor; she ever think about joining us in the MMP?

wet one, don’t have any Boston Markets around here, but I’ve tried their frozen meatloaf and it’s pretty good; I expect the fresh stuff would be even better. Glad you’re feeling better.

FCM, if he wants to, FCD can save me some money by coming out and doing my ductwork…

nellie, when you stop sneezing, let us know how the spray did…

Godbod, hope he feels the same way about you. But if you’ll take a grumpy old man’s advice, don’t get so tight that a possible breakup (it happens some with you young’uns) would break you, cause that would make me sad. But while the feeling is strong, revel in it!!!

OK, onward into the night. All y’all take care and I’ll catch you Thorsday.

That’s still cooking. He had to grease a muffin tin, heat the oven, try to put the fragile rolls into the cups or on the baking sheet without mangling them and then take them out of the oven when they were done. It is a fairly complicated process for someone who doesn’t have much kitchen time under their belt.

Have you ever thought about getting some of those frozen stir-fry dinners to cook? They are also good for newby cooks.

The big issue is inertia. If it was left up to me, I would just dispose of everything, but noooo, he will need to check every cable to be sure we don’t need one, despite the fact that we have done very well without it for years.

Thanks for your kind words, they are good people who got pooped on by life. They are doing what they can to get over it but it is taking time.

If it will become a mostly decorative item, you can use nail polish. I use silver and rarely gold nail polish for my version of kintsugi. I’ve only done one plate. Most of the things I put back together are decorative.

They do sell kintsugi kits. I find that nail polish works well and holds things together.

Up from naptime. I dreamed I bought my old house in Durham, and it came with a bear( Ursus americanus americanus, not swamp or Cocaine). I’m having a martini, to go with the chicken and cavatappi with my home made sauce.

“The two best days in a boat owner’s life are the day they buy the boat, and the day they sell the boat.”
Hopefully it will be cheaper than the money saved on the roof repair.

Works for me!

Awwww.

Because some day, he’ll defeat the alien menace because he’s the last person on Earth with a left handed male to male SCSI cable, then who will be laughing then, ma’am!
(dogbutler, who still has a Blackberry data cable in his Big Box O’ Cables)
Too bad Gordie and GG never got to meet. He loved cats, and they were on the same intellectual level(the main purpose of his cortex was to keep his eyes from rolling back down into his throat) :slightly_smiling_face:

I can’t really see (hah!) much of a difference but will give it a few more days. BTW, I wonder if your “bathroom problems” have anything to do with your change in beverages. Caffeine stimulates the bowels. There’s a reason swampy calls it “Diet Poopsie.”

I gotta da shots. The nurses keep telling me I’m tough, as most people grimace, whimper, and/or cry. I’m not tough, honestly. I once had an optometrist tell me I have “wimpy” eyelids because hard contact lenses cause unbearable pain. Humans be weird.

Well, that makes me feel better. When my daughter was young and had sleepovers, I always made the canned cinnamon and orange Pillsbury rolls for breakfast. The other moms made pancakes with smiley faces. I was just not up to pancakes after innumerable trips upstairs to say a) “Let’s try to keep it down so people in the next county can sleep!” b) “Don’t you think 3 a.m. is a good time to catch some Zzzz’s?” and c) “For the kove of all that’s holy, shut the frick up and lie the frick down!”

I got smiley face pancakes at home. Pancakes are cheap and Mom was feeding six. Those Pillsbury rolls were too spendy for everyday breakfast so I would have been happy to get a special treat for breakfast.

Understood. I only had one slumber party, and Mom didn’t offer either one pancakes OR sweet rolls, but I will say my daughter’s friends seemed thrilled to get the rolls. I gather their parents didn’t buy sweet rolls made out of chemicals and optimism.

Which brings up another question: Why don’t boys have slumber parties? My son occasionally had a friend spend the night, but never more than that. How did this get to be a “girl thing”?

Gosh! Sounds like you caused a lot of damage!

Up, caffeinated, and sheveled. Off to work.

LMAO

Aaaaand Morty wins the day! Excellent post!!

It rained overnight but we’re supposed to see sun and near 70° this afternoon. So I should be able to take the kids to the playground instead of sitting around their house waiting for their mom. So yay for that.

And it’s my last kid day this week - another yay! Dunno what’s in store for the next few days but I shall venture into the unknown and find out < cue Indiana Jones theme music > I’m hoping to get a little work done in the yard one of the days. Not to mention the never-ending chore of laundry. Or who-knows-what awaits on the boat. So, yeah, adventure ahead!

I should be ashamed, bragging about all the excitement in my life, knowing what a boring, mundane existence most of you lead, but I like to think I bring a little ray of hope and happiness wherever I go. You’re welcome.

OMG, I crack me up!

Happy Thursday!!

Excellent!

Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffeinatin’. YAWN 'Tis 67 Amurrkin out and mostly cloudy with a predicted high of 80 and mostly cloudy for the day. Plus, the annual pine tree orgy is in full swing. We shall hone our sloth skills for the most part today. There is nowhere we either want or need to be today. Sup shall be boxed lasagna (don’t judge!), sallit, and cheesey garlic bread.

Nellie glad you survived the shot.

I feel a little sinusy so I have retained very little of what I have read. Thus, yays, boos, hugs, noogies, trouts, chitlins, and how you doin’s all around, as needed.

Now I need more caffeine and to feed rumbly tummy. Then, onward into the day! Rah.

Happy Thursday Y’all!

Such a deal!!!

Good morning, everyone.

It’s currently 37 degrees with light rain falling. The expected high is 46 and the day will contain various kinds of rain; light rain, rain, showers, few showers and finally end with clouds.

I read in the news yesterday that Seattle has received more snow than New York this winter, lol!

Yesterday proved to be as irksome as I thought it would be. More irksomeness awaits today. On the other hand, I made a couple of people very, very happy so I guess I’ll take the small win.

FCM, I hope the fuel tank replacements are not outrageously expensive.

I had slumber parties growing up, but I usually cooked the breakfast which was almost always pancakes, but sometimes we settled for cereal. My daughter only had a few slumber parties, but with only one or two friends and I usually made them breakfast and took them all to lunch before running the girls home.

I really don’t have much else to report; just the same old mundane stuff going on around here.

I hope you all have a terrific day!

Fuel tank replacement involves moving/removing the generator, literally cutting the old fuel tank(s) out because they’re too big to remove intact, and replacing them with multiple smaller tanks plumbed together in order to keep the total fuel available around 400 gallons. So, I’d say beyond outrageously expensive. We’ve been discussing options.

You made a funny joke! :stuck_out_tongue:

I should hear from SIL soon that he’s on the way with the Toddler Tornado. I may take him grocery shopping today, just to break up the boring routine. Or not. I haven’t decided yet.

Ouch! I had a bad feeling, but I was trying to be optimistic.

Afternoon, mumpers! It’s 6c/44f with a predicted high of 7c/45f and partly cloudy. That’s why I have had to pull the blinds down to block the sun from my screens so I can see what I’m typing. Weather app says “Asking someone to be positive about the weather is like asking them to smile more. It’s totally fucking annoying”. However, it’s sunny and bright out there, that’s pretty positive!

I had a half-hour interview for the History Dept secondment this morning. Reminds me just how much I hate interviews :frowning: I had some notes with me, and I managed to ramble my way through it, so now I am just waiting to hear the results which should be today or tomorrow. The work rotation would be Wednesday-Friday on campus which is the opposite end of the week to what I normally do, but not a massive hardship. I like the idea of it being consecutive days too, that suits me very well.

Moooom sorry to hear about the boat expenses, that sounds very ouchie indeed. Also, from your pic I am scandalised to find out that 1974 is now antique!!!

nellie glad to hear you got the shots and were all Big Girl about it. Definitely means you should have a shot of something to get over it all, and shots do make nice cocktails

JtC 'im indoors is the same, he has filing cabinets and shelves full of stray cables and computer bits, very few of which will ever be required, and half the cables belong to things we don’t even have in the house any longer. I keep telling him if I outlive him, I’ll get a skip and chuck the whole lot in there. Might not even wait until he’s dead!

Is it even worth anything for parts?

I can’t imagine any of it is worth much of anything. But maybe if that particular bike holds special memories for someone??

For the most part, I’ve found that people who sell their old crap are to emotionally involved to figure out that the crap is essentially worthless.

The Tobester has arrived. I’m thinking we will do some grocery shopping when he’s done noshing on the cheese stick.
