Afternoon, mumpers! It’s 6c/42f with a predicted high of 7c/45f, with rain showers. Weather app is displeased and says “Not just bullshit, but fucking wet bullshit”.

It’s been a busy day, had a meeting with one of my team following an Occupational Health report that went better than I thought it would so that’s quite positive. Other than that, it’s been a day of getting little odd jobs finished, haven’t progressed much but I feel like I’ve done quite a bit. I was trying to do some preparation for tomorrow’s secondment interview but I am really struggling with that because it’s a sideways move so it’s not taking me into anything I can’t (or don’t) already do, it’s just doing it somewhere different.

hippie those blocks look amazing! I can’t wait to see the fully assembled version. Ralphie looks like he is doing a great job of quality control too.

flyboy nice pic, I would not have bothered either. That looks like the perfect excuse to stay inside.

I have a few bits to finish off then I can declare my work day complete, log out and pack up my laptop to haul it to campus tomorrow. Oh, the joy.

My boyfriend is all I ever think about nowadays. He’s so cute and sweet. I love him so much.

Hippy So gorgeous! I love the patterns and I love the colors.

{{{Quietly}}} I think that you and the kitty on your chest were consoling each other.

When I graduated, I lived in an apartment in San Antonio. We looked out on a ranch, mostly scrub trees and on occasion some horses would come over and hang out near the fence; I’d go and talk to them. We went to the Alamo bowl 25 years later and for old times sake, visited some of the sites we used to frequent. Same as you, there was a massive housing development; kind of sad.

Was a thespian in HS; was in the chorus in Brigadoon and I did dance on a platform. I’m sure you’ll do a great job for the kids.

Do you know that the men’s basketball team is in first place in the Big Ten and have clinched at least a share of the regular season championship?

Not only is it Wednesday but first day of March. Is it coming in for you like a lion or a lamb?

It was my spousal unit. And the phone died. He’s already gotten a replacement. And it’s all good because he hated the one that died and he likes his new one. The drowned one was a cheapie - cost maybe $80? I think that’s part of why he hated it.

FCD called to tell me the absorbent pads he put by the fuel tank were saturated, so the leak is getting worse. Next step is to transfer all the diesel to the other tank and figure out how we’ll replace the bad one. And, of course, we’ll also have to replace the other one as they’re the same age and if one leaked…

I never followed Purdue sports, even when I was there. One job I had, the first question they asked was where you went to school, followed by questions about “the team” - they learned right away how little I cared.

Just got the Tobester down for a nap. Gonna try to read for a bit.

I’m working up my courage to try the nasal spray. I’ve read the detailed instructions and have watched the video twice. The doc talked about a particular point on the nasal wall I’d need to hit, but the video makes it look like I just have to hit the nerve. Ugh.

Forgot to mention that this is The Big Hand-Off. I’ve experienced it before. When a new hotshot doc gets bored/runs out of ideas, you get a parting gift (free sample of nasal dynamite) and a referral to another doc (yet another optometrist). And the biggest tip-off: no return appointment. Oh, well. Back to my old neighborhood: square one.

Today is my daughter’s first day at the new job. We’ve joked about Less Nessman, but she just texted me she has a real office with a door. For those not born in the Stone Age:

Today is shot day. I still think if you’re good, you should get a shot of tequila or something. A shot for a shot. Doesn’t that sound fair?

FCM, hope FCD is able to get the leak fixed without further complications. It sounds frustrating as all get out, but then, I’m no mechanic.

VanGo, hope the platforms work out.

Taters, hope you do get to have the meetings mid-state and away from offices. Wait. When are the meetings? Hopefully not during snow season at Snoqualmie Pass?

GodBod, that’s so sweet!

flyboy, you’re a good guy. Hope you can fix the sugar bowl for your honey.

is it porcelain or ceramic?

if it is porcelain you can use milk.

Howdy Y’all! Provisions were procurred and N.O.L. picked up, brought back to da cave, and et. Then we accomplished nappage. Quite the flurry of activity for us. Now we chill and shall day drink soon.

Taters hope all the budget woes are sorted out soonest.

Yanker yay on the insurance payout.

GodBod first loves are da bomb. Glad you are enjoyin’ yours.

@JaneDoe42, quick question about cauliflower rice. You were talking about pre-cooking it, then freezing. Would that apply if I’m planning to use it in casseroles?

I assume it’s ceramic.

ceramic is an epoxy fix.

Seems to me I bought a ceramic glue at Ace Hardware some years ago, but epoxy will definitely do the job. Ceramic is too porous for superglue, I’m thinking.

You have my sympathy silenus.

We dismissed early again today. It’s the slow time of the year for us. I took Nelson to the dogpark for ~.5 hour, then came home and worked on the family cookbook.

Stay safe and healthy y’all!

It is snow all over Southern California right now. Disneyland is reporting snow, of all places!

Took the day off school to be with the kitties. We are all coping. Thanks for being here.

Got home from the playground to discover FCD repaired the roof. He’d gotten some stuff he was going to use to stick the patch over the hole - turns out the adhesive had fibers in it and the hole was small enough that he was able to fill the hole, then spread the adhesive around the area. So no $650 repair needed. And no waiting 7-10 days for the $650 repair. So yay for that! Altho I was a tad ticked that he did it without me standing by to dial 9-1-1 if he fell off the roof… men - sheesh! :stuck_out_tongue:

Time for chillage.

My first day out since Saturday. Hung at the barn for 4 hours then decided I needed real food, as opposed to the soup I’ve been eating for 4 days. Stopped at Boston Market for meatloaf, mashed taties and corn. Now I am stuffed, with a leftover piece of meatloaf for tomorrow. And it’s the end piece!

Taking a bath cuz I’m old and cold.

Like 5-minute epoxy? (The only epoxy I know is in two parts that need to be mixed.)

I’m not sure the local store knows what ‘ceramic glue’ is ISTM I tried to get some once, and they gave me Super Glue. The little shot glass-sized ceramic cup is still holding together. We use it to hold a Zippo for the fireplace. Isn’t there a Super Glue ‘gel’?

That’s pretty much the definition of epoxy. Since it takes several minutes to set, I suggest using tape to hold the pieces together while that time passes.

Snow at Disneyland and 80F on the first of March in middle Tennessee. Think there might just be something to this climate change thing.

flyboy, I would be leary about putting sugar in a vessel that has been glued / epoxied back together. I would be worried that bacteria might get into some of the cracks and cause a vunky reaction.

Yeah, I doubt it would be used again.

Mrs. L.A. is using her deer cup.

She says it goes well with the puking cat creamer.

I’ve been assured that I’m gettin paid with no “teaching requirements.” I just build shit.

Aren’t they sending you any voluntold muscle?

Hubs has several filing cabinet drawers and a couple of desk drawers filled with random computer cables and stuff. I keep trying to convince him that if we haven’t used them in four or five years, we don’t need them. He never seems very receptive.

You don’t live to get as old as I am without learning a thing or two about zombies!!!

I’m glad you set a date to get your life back. You worked hard to be able to retire comfortably, now you should be able to enjoy it. I know you love your grands, but we have gone through menopause because Mother Nature says we are too old to have babbies, who are we to argue?

I’m assuming you have a top loader? That sounds like a wonderful idea, btw, but my first thought was to wonder how you got it going fast enough to not smash the screen from dropping as the tub got up to speed.

:frowning:

Awwwww!

I have thought that was more than fair for years!

I’ve never heard of this before. How very cool!

Yeah, I wasn’t really clear, was I? When I get a head of cauliflower, I cut up enough bite sized pieces to fill a bell jar for pickling (and pickle them), then I grate the rest to make rice. I use what I need for that meal and then I press the moisture out of the leftover rice and freeze that to use within a couple of weeks.

I once kept some in the fridge for a week and it did not work out well, I have since read that it will keep for 3-4 days in the fridge, but once burned…

More hugs and sympathy. Stay warm!

Yeah, I know just what you mean!

Today I had to make the surplus produce run alone because LWT was working. It was clear and 40F when I left but by the time I had gained 500 ft altitude, the snow had started. The wonderful volunteers were out there smiling at us, so I came home and ordered a box of chemical handwarmers to hand out next week.

We got potatoes, eggs, celery, onions, lots of sugary breakfast cereals and baked goods and a couple of cases of some sort of clear sport drink that the MWT made very clear were welcome. They must put their food away as soon as they get it because I saw MWT crutch himself through the mud to get to the fence so he could pitch the empty boxes into our yard less than 20 minutes later. I hated watching him struggle like that, but I knew that he would hate it even more if I were to suggest he call me to come and get them.

I waited for him to get inside before I got the boxes and put them on the deck cause it’s too wet to put them in my car.

We haven’t had any snow here but there are weather alerts and warnings and closures happening. There is no reason for us to leave our property for a few days, so we won’t. If not for the yard flock and litter robot, we wouldn’t need to leave the house either. Rotten beasts!

VBC is of the firm belief that we give COC the best food and likes to nosh out of his bowl when the baby gate is open. Today GG saw me open the monster gate and saw a cat go through it and FLUFFED and ran behind the kitchen island to hide. When he realized that COC wasn’t in the same room and the gate was closed again, he crept over to look in the door and saw a cat that looked just like his sissy, but couldn’t possibly be because she was in the monster room, so he FLUFFED again and scarpered off to the spare room to hide under the bed.
