Administrivia in the MMP

I was just shutting things down and realized that I never answered this.

No. We both expected something like that to happen but so far, so good. Due to the world ending, he went to anger management classes (while being held in jail because he couldn’t make bail) to help civilize him somewhat before court. He didn’t graduate because he grabbed one of the counselors by the nipple while calling her a bitch.

After it was all said and done, I really had very little involvement in the case, so hopefully I have been forgotten. There isn’t much time left for a civil case now and we have a million dollar umbrella policy because of his guns, so not much worry if we do get sued.

Long Night tonight, but it went well because I had a good crew. (There’s two guys I’ve started thinking of as TweedleDee and TweedleDumber who drive me nuts, but they were thankfully off tonight.) I worked directly with a guy who communicates really well, so it makes it easier to do my job, and frankly, he made me look good.

I was setting up the pizzas - endless “sauce and cheese, sauce and cheese” - but he has buttloads of back-of-house experience and is very good at calling out the upcoming orders so I could keep up with them, so he could keep up with the “add toppings” part of the line.
Basically, we work well together and it was a smooth, if long, night.

Oh, I did have a funny from last night. I had an order with “TEA” on it, and I asked to clarify, did they want a drink? We do sell 20 oz green tea bottles.
No, that’s the customer name.
Really? {shrug} Okay.

An hour later, I’m on the fryers and get an order with the customer name “COFFEE” on it.
I was like, y’all are straight up messing with me. I wound up standing in front of the fryers laughing like a complete lunatic at a simple ticket.

DANG!!

Just need “ME”

Got the breakfast cake in the oven - that will be hubby’s breakfast for the next 9 days. After that’s out I’ll make lunch. I have pineapple leftover from the breakfast cake, so I’ll throw that in with the panang curry paste. Should be edible, I think. There will be chicken, carrots, broccoli, bamboo shoots and rice as well, plus coconut milk.

Grocery store didn’t have any boneless thighs, but they did have breasts on sale, so I’ll put ⅔ in the freezer, after cutting them up, and cook ⅓. Makes a quick meal - thaw out chicken, add curry paste, veg and rice.

Still need to learn how to use the new (to me) software. Guess I’ll watch the video.

Happy Sunday!

Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffeinatin’. YAWN ‘Tis 52 Amurrkin out and clear with a predicted high of 79 and N.O.S. for the day. The big item on today’s agenda is deheathenization, followed by First Sunday Brunch and then I get to go to the marathon meetin’ about the results of the survey. Plus I have Chalice duty this mornin’. We shall go in separate vehicles as, needless to say, OYKW does not want to hang around whilst the meetin’ takes place. It will be tough, but I will squeeze in some sloth as well.

Now I need more caffeine and to feed rumbly tummy. Then, purtification for deheathenization must commence.

Happy Sunday Y’all!

Semi-busy day ahead. I need to empty the dishwasher, do the laundry, bake the russets, then scoop the innards and mix up the twice-baked filling, and refill the shells. The poke loin was small - I only got 3 bags of pulled poke, each with enough for 2-3 sammiches. I’ll send one bag to MIL and the other 2 are mine.

I finally remembered to message SIL and let him know that unless it’s an emergency, I will only watch the kids 3 days a week till I quit next year. It really surprises me how hard it is to deal with them - they’re not bad kids or troublesome, but they wear me out more than I’d have expected.

So, semi-chill day ahead, and I expect to read more of my trashy novel. Oh, and I adjusted my withholdings from my pension - since we don’t have to pay taxes on SS, I don’t need to have near as much withheld. I also took a look and our 18-months-same-as-cash account for our HVAC - I’d been paying extra, so I was able to divide the balance into 4 final payments that are less than what I had been paying. Which means, as we’re getting to a better place financially, something awful and expensive will hit us in the next couple of days… because that’s the way our lives go. :stuck_out_tongue:

Happy Sunday. Yeah.

Actions speak louder than words. :revolving_hearts:

It’s good to hear from you shoe!

Up, caffeinating and breakfasting. Not much beyond the usual Sunday chores on tap for the day. A pot of chili verde is on and I’ll commence KP soon.

Stay safe and healthy y’all!

Afternoon, mumpers! It’s currently 5c/41f outside and likely to stay that way, and also cloudy. Weather app says “Stratus clouds are definitely the shitbags of the meteorology world. Trust me, I know my fucking shit”.

Seanette so sorry that the job wasn’t a real one, I hope that means there’s something else out there waiting for you.

flyboy the pot roast sounds delicious, and I love living on leftovers for a while.

I had a late night and consequently got up late this morning but it’s ok as I have no real plans for today. Yesterday I made a batch of Tuscan butter chicken and rice to use for lunches this week, and made tarragon chicken for last night’s dinner. Today I plan to make a batch of chilli to use for dinner a couple of times during the week, and that’s about all I intend to do. I hurt my back yesterday and it’s still sore so there will be no serious housework today, the roll-suck will have to wait.

An afternoon of slothage then, and why not?

My Instant Pot makes incredibly tender pot roast. I’m lucky to get it out of the pot in less than 3 or 4 pieces.

I’m very fond of “cook once, get multiple meals for one cleanup” strategy myself. This is one reason I have an upright freezer (the other being to stock up on good sales). My husband thinks some things are better as leftovers than they are just cooked.

Take care of your back! Yes, pend the roll-suck. The filth isn’t going anywhere (sigh).

I have often wondered how this turned out

@purplehorseshoe

It is good to have you back

Morning all. Got up early and did the Krispy Kreme run, and after 6 hot glazed donuts and 2 bottles of chocolate milk, I am well-stuffed for the day (there is a reason I do this only once every 8-9 weeks). House cleaning and a gym visit are planned, at a minimum I will start the dishwasher here in a moment. Nice day after the storms, going to 71F.

shoe, could have been worse; the next person’s name might have been Fry…

JtC, forgot the rest of the story. Guess scumbags gotta scum. And husband-unit is a keeper, but you know that already.

boo fae, hope the back heals soon.

FCM, 3 days a week with the kids sounds like quite enough to me. And hope you can build up a little nest egg before the next big cost hits.

Dicey, doubt husband will complain; that breakfast cake looks good.

OK, I have enough sugar in my to be ambitious, so I’ll get the dishwasher started and who knows from there. All y’all have a good Sunday.

Up, caffeinated, and sheveled. Off today. I shall clean, then watch some afternoon hockey.

I hope they have extra baliffs on hand for the verdict reading.

“Honey, I bought a bigger boat!” - FCD

Good morning everyone.

It’s currently 29 degrees and dark outside. The expected high is around 49 degrees and the day will be cloudy to mostly cloudy until late afternoon when showers move in.

Today I will be doing laundry and should probably push the roll suck around.

boofae, I hope your back heals soon. Back injuries suck!

shoe! Good to see you!

FCM, have you had a response from the kids? I’m glad you sent the email so they can understand how serious you are about the end of daycare and need time for yourselves.

My son dropped by momentarily last night to pick up some mail. For some reason, his employer keeps sending his mail here. I am sure it’s because he didn’t submit a change of address to his employer. Given the problems in his area, that’s probably a good thing, but it does mean his mail can stack up. He was up this way to meet some friends to watch a UFC fight. It was good to see him, and we’re making plans for a longer visit.

Okay, I need to finish my coffee and run the dishwasher.

I hope you all have a great day!

Well, you just jinxed that… :stuck_out_tongue:

These are what he has in mind - the ones over 60’ long. Like we could afford, well, ANYTHING for a boat that big, to say nothing of the boats themselves. OK, maybe we could buy replacement light bulbs, as long as there weren’t too many… The man is nothing if not a dreamer.

Daughter obviously wasn’t happy to learn she’ll lose free daycare. Heck, when MIL used to be our daycare, I still paid her the going rate. I never got any for free. And I’m sure SIL is less than happy that he can’t engineer the surprise break for his wife, but he’s got a sister and a niece and nephew who live locally, not to mention his mom, so he’ll have to spread the burden around or figure out how to pay a babysitter.

Current situation:
I’ve showered and dressed. First load in the dryer, second in the washer, one more to go. Critter fountain has been cleaned and refilled with fresh water. Ice maker is making ice. Dishwasher had been emptied and refilling has begun. Crock from slow cooker is clean (it was gross!!) and there are 5# of oiled russets in the oven, baking.

WHEW!

I think I have some time to read before the laundry needs my attention.

FCM I have bad news for you. You, and the rest of us, no longer have stamina. Taking care of rug rats spends all your energy. I spent 8 hours at the barn yesterday and can barely move. There is a reason for the existence of recliners, heating pads, trashy books, and reruns of Law & Order.

Morning, all! It promises to be a lovely day here in the DC 'burbs: sunny, with a high of 61°F. And without yesterday’s constant wind, though gusts of up to 20 mph are possible. Too bad I don’t plan to step foot outside my house (except to take Bailey out back from time to time).

I never did email my aunt yesterday, so that’s first on today’s “to do” list – well, after this post – and then I have some more volunteer-related stuff to do.

Today I’ll be sending welcome/thank you emails to folks who recently either joined the branch or renewed their membership. The applications go to my branch inbox, and every Friday morning I send a list of the week’s names to our secretary so he can confirm whether we’ve received everyone’s dues payments. He gets back to me within a day or so, and then I send either an acknowledgement or a gentle “don’t forget to pay” message to everyone. The applications indicate whether they’re interested in joining any of our committees, so after I email the individuals I notify the appropriate committee chairs about interested folks. I created templates for most of the communications, and there are typically only 5-10 applications a week, but it still takes a little time to send everything.

I also need to send a couple of emails related to upcoming events the branch might want to have a table/tent at. Yesterday I had a phone conversation with the co-founder of a local foundation about their annual music festival, which we’d definitely like to be at, and he gave me the contact info of the woman who coordinates everything. It’s not until June, but many festivals and fairs start getting organized 3-4 months in advance (one October event I’m looking at actually has an application deadline of mid-March!). There’s also a local pride festival in June that I think we should have a presence at, so I’ll contact those organizers as well. Though if the emails to my aunt and the new/renewing members take longer than I think, the events emails can easily wait until tomorrow.

Happily, I still have one roasted chicken slider to look forward to for lunch (there were three in the package). This was my first time having the sliders: they’re good, but I like the ceasar wraps more. The only downside to the weekend’s chicken sandwiches has been that every time I eat one, Bailey stares at me the whole time with a mix of hopefulness (“I know you wouldn’t eat my favorite food without giving me any!”) and haughtiness (“how dare you eat my favorite food without giving me any!”).

I plan to continue my LEGO adventures today, though I got stuck pretty quickly yesterday: the set came in 10 separate bags, and I only made it partway through bag #2 before not being able to reconcile a particular piece of the instructions with an earlier instruction (“now your thing should look like this, and now it should look like this”). My 21-year-old “nephew” is a LEGO expert, so I might see if he’s available to provide some assistance via FaceTime this afternoon. He’s getting ready to head to Texas for two weeks, though (to visit his girlfriend who goes to college there): he leaves on Tuesday and is trying to get a bunch of assignments done before then, so I’m not sure if he’ll have the time today. Worst case, I figure I’ll take some pictures and turn to the Dope for assistance.

(Hmm…would that thread go in Factual Questions, Cafe Society, or The Game Room? )

LOL! Hopefully that’s only a risk when there are others in the house, and I don’t think Bailey can reach the top of the kitchen table…but she better not move any of the pieces while I’m sleeping.

How cool for him! And yay for you! As a musician I can confirm that it’s impossible to overstate the value of groupies: audience members who buy food, pay attention/applaud, and tip (at all, let alone well) are gold!

OMG you made a pizza for Téa Leoni!!! :open_mouth:

…or, maybe not.

So it’s not that he can’t engineer the surprise, it’s that he can’t do it using you/for free? He’ll live.

“Price reduced”

This is what I was wondering. Obvi you are the best at taking care of your grands but certainly his relatives should help out if D & SIL are not willing to send the kids to daycare. I’m proud of you for standing your ground.

This is what Bella does when I’m cooking at my daughter’s. I hate not being able to give her some food, sometimes I will sneak some to her but never when we’re eating as that is absolutely forbidden.

Showered, breakfasted (on items with a lot of cheese that my Doc said I should avoid or cut way down on). Today is the last day of the regular season of the Big Ten for men’s basketball. There are 6 games. Normally I only watch my Spartans during the pre-season and regular season but today I’ll check in on all the games since the outcomes will impact the Spartans seed for the Big Ten Tourney. Also plan to go work out at the Fitness Center late afternoon and from there to early evening mass.

Have a blessed Sunday.

Oh, ye gods, I’m working with TweedleDee and TweedleDumber today, plus the guy I’m friendly with (and therefore acts as an emotional buffer) is off today.

Pray I make it through my shift without backhanding that damn bully, cuz then I’d be the asshole who loses their job!

I wish my manager would replace him; I suspect she’s trying but not getting hirable candidates. We already had one new girl who promptly, ah, “didn’t work out.”

I voice-called my boyfriend for the first time today, and it was the first time he heard my voice. He said I sounded calming.
And I also got to tell him I love him with my voice for the first time. It felt amazing. :face_holding_back_tears:
