Sometimes bar singers are actually good!
I dug the welder too. He seemed sincere, and the kind of person Idol was made for.
Gotta get behind anyone who doesn’t butcher a Janis song!
Nobody should ever sing Janis on Idol. Even if they have a good voice, like that girl clearly did, it’s just not Janis.
I totally agree. Although she was charming, all I could think was, “vanilla girl version of Janis, this blows!”
Wikipedia lists the dates of the city auditions, but not Hollywood Week.
Does anyone know when Hollywood week was?
I like that the big sister (I’ve already forgotten which is India and which is Asia) didn’t pout or look upset when Simon told her no, but just immediately started pointing at and lobbying for the little sister. When the little sister made it, the big sister was just as happy as if she’d made it herself. Not a second of self-pity or jealousy. Just support. What a great sister.
Sad story guy was pretty good!
Heard It Through the Grapevine was good and he looks like Robert Downey Jr, who I am in love with ever since Iron Man. But I always hate weepy back stories.
Cynical me thinks that big sister went to make little sister look better.
Dead wife guy had a great voice, but damn, that story broke my heart.
There are a lot of ‘voice don’t match image’ people. Maybe it was always that way but since we didn’t get to see all of this, we didn’t know.
I am on the Anoop train, yo.
Yeah, I dug the folklore guy too. I’d love to read that thesis–it sounds fascinating.
It was kind of cheap the way Simon tried to belittle his thesis as having “studied barbecue.”
It’ll be interesting to see if Folklore Guy has any versatility.
Never mind the thesis, that guy is gorgeous! … Oh, and he can sing, too.
Simon does do the quote-the-bio-out-of-context thing a lot.
The cheerleaders were just trying to get on TV. Mission accomplished, I guess.
Contestants who bring props, including human props, should be summarily banned. I am tired of this crap.
Band director guy is smokin’ hot. He had some minor pitch issues, but that’s a tough song.
