I didn’t even realize it was lip synched.
All the group songs are lip synched.

I watch Idol for the non-music entertainment possibilities. Believe me, I’ll be saving the Idol performance show from this week forever, just in case I need a hilarious pick-me-up in the form of Adam’s “Play That Funky Music, White Boy.” Not to get off on a tangent here, but is anyone else annoyed and repulsed by his spongy tongue whenever he hits those high notes? It looks like two tiny red pillows are threatening to fall out of his mouth at any moment.
In any case, the aforementioned non-music entertainment possibilities are now gone with Megan being voted off (except for whatever Adam decides to pull out of his ass next). Yeah, Kris seems like he can actually sing a bit, and some of the other contestants seem to be nice enough, but really, is anyone sitting around their house tonight wondering what Gokey is going to do next week? Does anyone care what warhorse Scott decides to drag out and sing next week in a perfectly adequate but ultimately sleep-inducing voice? No! But Megan kept it interesting. She was fun and sexy and sweet, the most unique performer of the whole lot. Maybe her musical gifts weren’t on par with some of the others, but who watches Idol for the music?
Megan would have been tolerable-to-good after about a weeks worth of professional voice lessons. She has been listening to too many old female jazz vocalists, and the result was a tendency to badly distort or over-pronounce every syllable. She seriously needed to tone that down about 11 notches, but was a lot of fun to look at on stage.
Yes, and its worries me, what lurks in his mind…
About Allison, well, we know she has good pipes, and amazing presence for a teen. The morphing dressing thing, I give her a wizened old gal Go Girl! It might not serve her in the scope of the contest, but, I remember being that open and young, when a haircolor change of the week, and tweak of odd dress signified good freedom.
I love her for that: not wanting to get shuttled into a cute little waffle iron press of what plays well.
Well, whatever Gokey does is probably going to be on this lis. The theme next week is “year you were born,” and the internets say that the Goke was born in 1980. So I guess the thing to do would be to go down the list and determine either the douchiest possible song choice or a non-douchey song that he could most douche up.
I’m tempted to predict he’ll do “With You I’m Born Again,” but I think that “Working My Way Back To You,” though it’s a good song, has the potential for all the douchey excess that he likes, plus it’s a fairly easy song to sing.
Adam’s year is 1982, by the way. There’s a goldmine on that list of potential Adam fodder. “Ricky,” “Eye of the Tiger,” “Tainted Love.” Really, it’s hard to find a song on the list that wouldn’t be great transformed into an Adam Lambert cheese-tacular.
Please let Gokey sing “Sailing” or “Emotional Rescue” ![]()
I’d like to see Adam tackle Steve Perry and Journey “Open Arms”
Simply put, if Adam tackles “Open Arms” and pulls it off…he’ll have my undying love forever. But I do love Journey so…
I cast my vote for “Come on Eileen”
If you want Gokey to douche up a great song, “Hungry Heart” is the pick.
I dunno…“Tainted Love” may be just a bit too gay for Adam.
Young mothers missing their children too much to do a proper job of supporting them, cheeses me off. Megan was throwing the contest to go home. It is short sighted . Did she forget the top ten make a record and go on tour? Did she think long term at all? I guess an arm full of tatoos gave me a clue about that.
She has an unusual voice and in the right song could have some success. But she can not do that from home playing mother. Being a mother requires supporting and thinking of the babies future.
What an amazing list. It’s tough to choose, but if he did The Sweetest Thing, seriously, that would be great.
Gokey + The Rose = cheezy gold.
Adam has hinted that he wants to do a Journey song on the show…maybe he could do “Open Arms”…
I would love to hear Adam sing Gloria by Laura Branigan. I would vote my fingers off.
Or maybe “Open Arms”!
