Where did these contestants get the idea they have to use gangsta gestures with rock and pop songs? Paul, baby, sweetie, I’m looking at you. You’re beautiful, and you have a great voice under there somewhere, but the execution is lacking.
Can we vote for a whole new Top 12? These guys SUCK.

I don’t know what it is, but something about this Nick dude just annoys me.
I was going to skip this season, but I’ve got it on, see if there’s anyone I like listening to. So far, I’ve heard a bunch of amateurs.
My favorite of the first five was the fat guy with the chest hair. Sundance? His thick fingers & wide shoes remind me of my father.
Chris is a cute guy, but sang the Gavin DeGraw song a bit high & poppy for me. Nick was OK tonight, but not terribly special.
The Violent Femmes cover in this Wendy’s ad is in first place so far.
I don’t know, Nick struck me as being the first fellow tonight who actually took his performance seriously. It wasn’t perfect, but it wasn’t gimmicky either. (Then again, maybe he was just too nervous to try gimmicks…) I’m with Simon on this one.
My initial reactions as the songs are sung…
Rudy - decent voice, kind of fun, lots of energy, sounded like it belonged on a Vegas stage. Not bad, but Randy and Simon were right. By the way, did anybody watch Wayne Newton at the all star game? Holy lipsynching batman.
Brandon - I absolutely hated the song. Hated Hated Hated it. Pitchy, he over sang it, Randy was right on.
Sundance - What the hell? The arm movements were flat out creepy, not on pitch the whole song. He may have been nervous.
Paul - he’s a mediocre singer, shouldn’t have tried that high note. Kind of messy all around, kind of boring. Terrible song choice.
Chris - Kind of an easy song, he’s fun to watch on stage even if I’m not crazy but some of the things he does (thought he looked a bit silly at times). He didn’t show his voice off in any way but at least he didn’t screw it up.
lets take a little break to say, “what does paula contribute - at all?” Bring back Jewel.
Nick - Uh oh. He was off on a bunch of notes but who would know, he sang them so damn quiet. I like the song so I didn’t hate it…very mediocre thus far.
Sooo…essentially we’ve heard 6 one minute songs in an hour?
I think we’re like 0 for 6 so far. Somebody has to step up and not suck soon. At this point I’d rather just listen to Blake do his beat box thing than listen to anymore of the guys we’ve seen so far.
What is it with everyone singing so breathy and unsupported? I mean, not everyone has to sound like Pavarotti, but it would be nice to have a little bit of tone on top of all the wheezy breath!
Suckfest is right. I haven’t liked a one so far. They’re either nasal, out of tune, or nothing but breathy. Or a combination of all of the above.

I don’t want to like the beatboxer. But, damnit, he’s the only one actually singing (relatively) in key tonight.
Well this is disappointing. Blake was one of the guys I had hopes for, but this is pitchy and boring as hell.
He reminds me of Rod Stewart. I don’t know this song but I kind of like it. Blake is not sucking at all.
It must sound really different in the studio. His pitch was way off in spots.
I thought that was actually pretty good–a bit rough in the middle but otherwise good. Never thought I’d hear a Keane song on AI.
