American Idol March 13-14

Sanjaya was HORRIBLE, but I think that his hair was even worse!

This is without a doubt the worst Top 12 debut show ever.

Melissa did a decent job with a boring song, and the rest has been utterly forgettable to dreadful.

I love it when Cowell’s zingers fall flat!

I think he was trying to butch it up a little but it just did not work.

I have a confession to make…I can’t join the Sanjaya hair hate because that’s my hairstyle. Almost exactly. In my defense, I’m a female-type person, and my hair does that naturally. I need to crawl under a rock now. :frowning:

I’m rooting for Gina, but she does tend to get a bit shouty if she’s not careful. Some of them have the big voice effortlessly, Gina’s got to reach for it and work for it more, but we shouldn’t be aware of that.

The best part of Sanjaya’s performance was Randy’s speechlessness.

Who is this girl? What is she doing on the show?

Is Haley’s dress double empire waisted? And, surprise, surprise-- I liked that. It suited her Carnival Cruise voice.

Did… Haley just forget the words too? The hell?

Haley confirms.

Now Bradley, or whatever his name is, has a chance to stay in this. There’s been a bunch of shitty performances. Can we move to the smaller stage?

Haley forgot the words but looks kind of hot. She still defines forgettability.

Ooops, Haley forgot the words too. And she is crying. What’s with all the crying today?

I have to agree with Simon, Haley wasn’t too bad…at least graded on tonight’s curve. Is the whole Diana Ross thing freaking the contestants out or something?

Wow, Sanjaya at least learned his song and controlled his nerves.

This is go time, if they can’t handle it now, they should just get gone.

Way to compliment the audience there, Paula, “The audience doesn’t know anything?” That’s pretty much TRUE, but you don’t say it front of them.

I thought Haley was wretched. She was so shrieky. She forgot the words and lost her mind. But she did look cute.

Hippy … when you say “Melissa,” do you mean “Melinda?” And when you say “Bradley,” do you mean “Brandon?” Please forgive my idiot questions, but I am blonde and easily confused.

Also, since everybody else kind of sucks tonight, I would like to point out that Seacrest kind if sucks, too. Is he also dragging from the time change? I know losing that hour makes me very cranky.

I just got home and am watching it DVRed. I don’t much care for anything Diana Ross has ever done so it’s probably a good thing I can do a lot of fast forwarding.

Brandon wasn’t good.

I didn’t sing the song Melinda sang but I haven’t liked ANY of the songs Melinda has sang. She’s good, I’ll give her that but I’d love to hear her sing a song I enjoy, that’s be neat. Does it look like to anyone else like she was in the fifties made a wrong turn and ended up on the American Idol stage? Not that I’m criticizing her, it’s just a comment.

Chris Sligh’s version was an inch away from being techno Endless Love…bleech.

I don’t think those jeans fit Gina right at all. I have no comment on the song.

I’d do Haley…that’s about all I have to say. Man I hate Diana Ross. It took me 20 minutes to watch the first hour.

OK, what the crap is going on here … Phil? Alien-headed Phil? With the distractingly dark eyebrows? Is giving the best performance so far? I mean, it’s the whitest version of a Marvin Gaye song I’ve ever heard, but … he’s good. Isn’t he? My entire worldview is shattered now, and I don’t know what’s happening.

I just can’t get past how creepy Phil’s head is. It occurs to me that his choice of song is somehow appropriate: he is going to make us love him, isn’t he? Yick.

Stacey…bah…pitchy on the verses and his tone on the chorus sounds really unpleasant somehow. Not really out of key, just a grating sort of timbre. He cheated on the second chorus.

It wasn’t good for me, dawg.

Cancer man is safe. Phil wasn’t bad at all.

Heh. rockle, it’s not you, it’s me! Correct. These folks haven’t earned the right to be remembered in my mind. Except for Melinda.

Phil delivers an adequate performance, and it is probably the best of the night simply because he a) did a recognizable song and b) sang it straight. That’s enough to move on to next week, folks!
