Elliot sounds pretty good. He at least “gets” Stevie, if that makes any sense. (What? I said I was cranky!) But there is something about him that is disconcerting to me. He’s about as exciting as lint, but there’s something else. He needs his eyebrows done, that’s for sure. Am I a bad person because I think Elliot’s singing is not good enough to make up for his not being particularly attractive?
Elliot was good, but it’s still missing something.
Man, I could hardly stay awake for the Pickler. But at least she can sing, unlike Ace, who just stands there and looks pretty and has the teenage girls squeeing themselves half to death.
I liked Elliott. I thought he sounded great. But I’m a sucker for a good voice.
“I’m always sweaty?” Is that what he said? Oh, Elliott.
My daughter, home for spring break and not keeping track of Idol since auditions thinks Elliot is adorable and she looooves his voice. Thinks he’s cute. My son, on the other hand thinks Elliot had his teeth done.
Am I the only one that noticed the best part of Pickler’s “I’m not really familiar with Stevie Wonder’s work”? She started crying when they introduced him!
I wish we lived in a world where a mensch like Elliot would win this competition.
No, you’re not. He also needs to get something done to his teeth. He should try some flashy sunglasses, like Bono.
He has a great voice but that performance wasn’t very good. The second half was much better than the first half–it didn’t seem like he knew the song very well.
Right now I’m afraid Ace will. And then I’ll go off in the corner and barf. He’s so totally generic boy band it’s hard to tell him apart from any of a thousand others.
Okay, Mandisa looks gooood!
The Picklers seems to be always trying to say something adorable to the audience. “I Bought 'em on sale! I hope I don’t bust a seam! I never wore no face make-up before!”
What. The. Hell. Is. He. Doing???
Why did Seacrest just do that to Mandisa?
First time I’m really watching an entire show (rather than bits and pieces), and Picker is ADORABLE. Average singer, but just a genuine person. Very Dolly Parton-esque in conversation. I didn’t think Seacrest was being snarky, just he was saying the conversation was coming so easy, they could talk for 3 hours… Hell, I’d probably enjoy it too.
Elliot has been the best so far. But no… knock it out of the park.
Okay, it is absolutely fabulous to see one of the women take off those ghastly high heels they all wear all the time – half the time they can barely move in them anyway.
It’s official, nobody can sing Stevie, except Stevie.
Mandisa’s really having trouble staying in tune. She’s gone way out of key a couple times. That’s unusual for her. Maybe she’s just nervous but she sucks tonight,
Definitely not one of Mandisa’s best performances.
Prediction: Simon says “you should have left the heels on.”
Man, that wasn’t very good was it?
They always seem to have trouble getting used to the acoustics in the bigger hall at first; between the bigger band, the larger crowd, and the sound guys never, ever getting the levels right, the first couple of weeks are always hard on everybody.
